  • Knowledge of the solar radiation components are essential for modeling many solar photovoltaic systems. This is particularly the case for applications that concentrate the incident energy to attain high photo-dynamic efficiency achievable only at the higher intensities. In order to estimate the performance of concentrating PV systems, it is necessary to know the intensity of the beam radiation, as only this component can be concentrated. The Korea Institute of Energy Research(KIER) has began collecting solar radiation component data since August, 1996. KIER's component data will be extensively used by concentrating PV system users or designers as well as by research institutes.

  • Achiral-chiral column switching HPLC assay was developed to allow the separation and quantification of the enantiomers of terbutaline in human plasma by means of fluorescence detection. Plasma samples were prepared by solid-phase extraction with sep-pak silica, followed by HPLC assay. The enantiomers of terbutaline and the internal standard were separated from the biological matrix on a silica column, and the two enantiomers were resolved and quantified on a Sumichiral OA-4900 column. The two columns were connected by a switching valve equipped with silica trap column, The trap column was used to concentrate the terbutaline in the eluent from the achiral column before back flushing onto the chiral phase. For each enantiomers, the assay was linear between 2.5-125 ng/$m\ell$ (r=0.9999) and detection limit was 1.0 ng/$m\ell$ .

  • The plunger speed of solenoid actuator is affected by mass of plunger, magnetic motive force, inductance, and return spring. These factors are not independent but related with each other according to design characteristics of solenoid actuator. So, it is impossible to change the designed value for the purpose of increasing plunger speed. In this study, we have analyzed the characteristics of high-speed solenoid actuator having a non-magnetic ring which plays a role to concentrate the effective magnetic flux into plunger. For more detailed analysis, we have performed FEM analysis and decided the optimal attaching position and length on the guide tube based on these results. And, we proved the propriety of the non-magnetic ring effect by experiments.

  • Foveated vision has the big advantage of exhibiting a wide field of view, along with a high resolution fovea. However, in the case of using optical flow, foveated vision kas one demerit. The demerit is a concentrate of optical flow. For foveated vision, an object moves almost only around the center of the field. In this paper, we suggest how to segment motion of some objects, and how to discriminate a hand and another object. In the future, the method we suggested may be useful for recognizing human actions by foveated vision.

  • A fluid-solid conjugate solver has been newly developed and applied to an actual engine disk system. Most of the currently available conjugate solvers lack the special thermal modeling for turbomachinery disk system applications. In the present new code, these special models are implemented to expand the applicability of the conjugate method and to reduce the required computational resources. Most of the conjugate analysis work so far are limited to the axisymmetric framework. However, the actual disk system includes several non-axisymmetric components which inevitably affect the local heat transfer phenomena. Also the previous work devoted to this area usually concentrate their efforts on the steady-state thermal field, although the one in the transient condition is more critical to the engine components. This paper presents full 3D conjugate analysis of a single stage high pressure turbine rotor-stator disk system to assess the three-dimensional effects (Fig. 1). The analysis is carried out not only in the steady-state but also in the engine accelerating transient condition. The predicted temperatures shows good agreement with measured data.

  • This research was aimed at developing new catalytic membrane reactors to be used for : i) partial oxidation of toluene (to benzaldehyde and benzoic acid) ii) oxidative dehydrogenation of propane iii) complete oxidation of propane and toluene. The reactor is particularly useful for the optimisation and the industrial development of heterogeneous catalytic processes, particularly for those processes where it is necessary to control the reactants stoichiometry in the reaction zone. This control limits consecutive reactions, thus obtaining high selectivity with industrially interesting conversions. This presentation will concentrate on the partial oxidation of toluene.

  • In tall building construction, the equipment operation plans have an effect on productivity. Equipment, used in tall building construction, has operating plans of each it and restrictively operate owing to the first placed equipment operation. Therefore the interference of equipment was occur frequently. As it, the productivity is less effective and the construction delay occurs. This research was analysis the interference elements between the equipment for constructing the efficient equipment associated operational processes. The interference elements between the equipment derive through expert advice and analysis using IPA. Through the IPA, this research deducted the interference elements located 'Concentrate Here' which is the highest importance and the lowest performance.

  • Virtual wavelength path (VWP) is the optical path when a wavelength conversion is possible in a wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) network that is transmission infrastructure for the next generation high speed backbone networks. To achieve efficient design for VWP networks, we must consider VWP routing, wavelength assignment, and wavelength conversion while satisfying many technical constraints of the WDM networks. In this study we propose an integrated model for efficient VWP design in WDM networks. We also develope a 3-phase algorithm, each of which deals with routing, wavelength assignment and route and wavelength reassignment, respectively. In our computational experiments, phase 1 algorithm can solve the problem to the optimality for medium size test networks. Phase 2 algorithm is an efficient heuristic based on a reduced layered network and can give us an effective wavelength assignment. Finally, phase 3 algorithm reconfigure VWP routing and its wavelength assignment to concentrate wavelength conversion nodes in the suggested VWP network.

  • Due to the rapid progress in the field of robotics, it is a high time to concentrate on the development of a robot that can manoeuvre in all type of landscapes, ascend and descend stairs and sloping surfaces autonomously. This paper presents details of a prototype robot which can navigate in very rough terrain, ascend and descend staircase as well as sloping surface and cross ditches. The robot is made up of six differentially steered wheels and some passive mechanism, making it suitable to cross long ditches and landscape undulation. Static stability of the developed robot have been carried out analytically and navigation capability of the robot is observed through simulation in different environment, separately. Description of embedded system of the robot has also been presented and experimental validation has been made along with some details on obstacle avoidance. Finally the limitations of the robot have been explored with their possible reasons.

  • This study investigates the relationship among Appraisal outcome Satisfaction. Perceived Organization Support and Perceived Appraisal Justice. Several important findings emerge from this research. First. both distributive and procedural justice have a significant power in accounting for Perceived Organization Support. Second, it is evidenced that perceiving justice has a positive relationship with perceived organization support. Third, appraisal outcome satisfaction was higher, the level of distributive, procedural. interactional justice and perceived organization support were high. Future study. therefore. have to concentrate on the survey of casual relations among each concept in the framework of a longitudinal study. And to apply the results of this study to practical management, it is suggested that replicate research on various populations and through various experiments should be mand in the future.
