In recent years, Magnesium (Mg) and its alloys have become a center of special interest in the automobile industry. Due to their high specific mechanical properties, they offer a significant weight saving potential in modern vehicle constructions. Most Mg alloys show very good machinability and processability, and even the most complicated die-casting parts can be easily produced. The die casting process is a fast production method capable of a high degree of automation for which certain Mg alloys are ideally suited. In this study, step-dies and flowability tests for AM50 were performed by die-casting process according to various combination of casting pressure and plunger velocity. We were discussed to velocity effect of forming conditions followed by results of microstructure, FESEM-EDX, hardness and tensile strength. Experimental results represented that the conditions of complete filling measured die-casting pressure 400 bar, 1st plunger velocity 1.0 m/s and 2nd plunger velocity 6.0 m/s. The increasing of 2nd plunger velocity 4.0 to 7.0 m/s decreased average grain size of $\alpha$ phase and pore. It was due to rapid filling of molten metal, increasing of cooling rate and pressure followed by increased 2nd plunger velocity. The pressure should maintain until complete solidification to make castings of good quality, however, the cracks were appeared at pressure 800bar over.
We present the results of HI 21 cm line observations to explore the nature of the high-velocity (HV) HI gas at - 173${\circ}$, which appears as faint, wing-like, Hi emission that extends to velocities beyond those allowed by Galactic rotation in the low-resolution surveys. We designate this feature as Forbidden Velocity Wing (FVW) 172.8+1.5. Our high-resolution Arecibo HI observations show that FVW 172.8+1.5 is composed of knots, filaments, and ring-like structures distributed over an area of a few degrees in extent. These HV HI emission features are well correlated with the HII complex G173+1.5, which is composed of five Sharpless HII regions distributed along a radio continuum loop of size 4.4${\times}$3.4, or -138 pc ${\times}$ 107 pc, at a distance of 1.8 kpc. G173+1.5 is one of the largest star-forming regions in the outer Galaxy. The HV HI gas and the radio continuum loop seem to trace an expanding shell. Its derived HI parameters including large expansion velocity (55 km/s) imply the SNR interpretation. Hot xray emission is detected within the HII complex, which also supports its SNR origin. The FVW172.8+1.5 is most likely the products of a supernova explosion(s) within the HII complex, possibly in a cluster that triggered the formation of these HII regions.
In the present study, capability of improving the liquid atomization of a high-speed liquid jet by using wall impingement is explored, and its application to a jet engine atomize. is demonstrated. Water is injected from a thin nozzle. The liquid jet impinges on a wall positioned close to the nozzle exit, forming a liquid film. The liquid film velocity and the SMD were measured with PDA and LDSA, respectively. It was shown that the SMD of the droplets was determined by the liquid film velocity and impingement angle, regardless of the injection pressure or impingement wall diameter. When the liquid film velocity was smaller than 300m/s, a smaller SMD was obtained, compared with a simple free jet. This wall impingement technique was applied to a conventional air-blasting nozzle for jet engines. A real-size air-blasting burner was installed in a test rig in which three thin holes were made to accommodate liquid injection toward the intermediate ring, as an impingement wall. The air velocity was varied from 41 to 92m/s, and the liquid injection pressure was varied from 0.5 to 7.5 MPa. Combining wall impinging pressure atomization with gas-blasting produces remarkable improvement in atomization, which is contributed by the droplets produced in the pressure atomization mode. Comparison with the previous formulation for conventional gas-blasting atomization is also made, and the effectiveness of utilizing pressure atomization with wall impingement is shown.
This study was performed to evaluate the effects of input ratios of bulking material in aerobic composting of food wastes on variation of colony forming units of heterotrophic bacteria. Wood chips were used as a bulking material. Volume ratios of food wastes to wood chips in reactor of Control, WC-1 and WC-2 were 10/0, 10/5 and 10/10, respectively. Reactors were operated for 24 days with 1hour stirring by 1rpm and 2 hours of the forced aeration per day. WC-2 reached high temperature range faster than WC-1, and the maximum temperature of WC-2 was higher than that of WC-1. This means that the reaction velocity of composting of WC-2 was faster than that of WC-1. Judging from the profile of pH changes, composting of WC-1 proceeded slowly and continuously. Composting of WC-2 proceeded rapidly in the former half reaction period, and kept steady state of high pH in the latter half reaction period. Namely, composting of WC-2 was nearly completed in the former half reaction period. In the case of WC-1 and WC-2. the maximum temperature was followed by the rapid pH increase in 2-3 days, and this was followed by the maximum Colony Forming Units(CFU) in 3 days. But, these three items of WC-2 always appeared faster and higher than those of WC-1.
HRP(high rate pond) which had kept the manufactured clay of 3cm-thickness as benthic clay in reactor and the 6 flat-blade turbine as impeller for agitation was named HRASP(high rate algae stabilization pond). And the experiment for treatment of artificial synthesis wastewater containing COD :300mg/$\ell$, NH$_3$-N : 300mg/$\ell$, T-P : 9mg/$\ell$ as nutrients was been performed successfully. This reactor was been operated under conditions : 24hrs.-irradiation and water temperature, $25^{\circ}C$ and pH 7 and agitation velocity, 15, 30, 45rpm and the effect of agitation velocity on algal bioaccumulation of nutrients was been studied with view point of fluid dynamics. The next followings could be obtained as results. 1. The agitation with a turbine impeller blade in HRASP makes clay particle indicate superior suspension effect by means of forming of excellent curl/shear flow in reactor. 2. The excessive suspension of clay particle which is created at 45rpm as rotation velocity of impeller blade of turbine disturbs the light penetration and algal photosynthesis reaction. 3. Efficiencies for removal of nutrients come out as COD : 93.9%~94.3%, ($NH_3-N + NO_3-N$) : 81.9%~99.0%, T-P : 46.8%~53.6%. 4. Kuo values of $K_1$for algal growth come out seperately as 15rpm : $1.876{\times}10^{-2}, 30rpm : 4.618{\times}10^{-3}$. 5. Kuo values of $K_2$for removal of N, P come out seperately as 15rpm : $8.403{\times}10^{-1}$ and $1.397{\times}10^{-1}$, 30rpm : $4.823{\times}10^{-1} and 2.052{\times}10^{-1}$. 6. It can be guessed easily that the excessive agitation can inhibit the algal and bacterial symbiotic reaction if it is considered that micro organism\` sense to preservation of life is relied on natural function of metabolism. Therefore the studies for this matter should be followed continuously.

To obtain high quality component with thixoforming process, it is important that the homegeneous distribution of solid particles without liquid segregation. In closed-die semi-solid forging process, liquid segregation is strongly affected by injection velocity than any other process variables because the material has to travel relatively long distance to fill the cavity through a narrow gate before solidification begins. The optimal injection velocity and die temperature were investigated to fabricate near-net-shape compressor component called Al frame.

In recent years, Magnesium (Mg) and its alloys have become a center of special interest in the automotive industry. Due to their high specific mechanical properties, they offer a significant weight saving potential in modem vehicle constructions. Most Mg alloys show very good machinability and processability, and even the most complicated die casting parts can be easily produced. The die casting process is a fast production method capable of a high degree of automation for which certain Mg alloys are ideally suited. Although Mg alloys are fulfilling the demands for low specific weight materials with excellent machining and casting abilities, they are still not used in die casting process to the same extent as the competing material aluminium. One of the reasons is that effects of various forming variables for die casting process is not closely examined from the viewpoint of die design. In this study, step die and flowability tests for AM60 were performed by die casting process according to various combination of casting pressure and plunger velocity. Microstructure and Victors hardness tests were examined and performed for each specimen to verify effects of forming conditions.
We conducted an analysis of a selected region from the FCRAO $^{12}CO$ Outer Galaxy Survey. The selected region is located between galactic longitude $117^{\circ}$ and $124^{\circ}$ with the velocity of -23 km $s^{-1}. Molecular clouds in this region show a peculiar velocity field, protruding from the Local Arm population. The selected region is divided into 7 clouds by spatial location. Though we were not able to identify the direct driving source for peculiar velocity of our target region, we find that there are several internal YSOs or star forming activities; there are many associated sources like an outflows, a high-mass protostellar candidate and $H_2O$ maser sources. We attribute the driving energy source to older generation of episodic star formation. Masses of main clouds(cloud 1-4) estimated using a conversion factor from $^{12}CO$ luminosity are larger than $10^4M_{\odot}$. Other components have a small mass as about $10^3M_{\odot}$. Among main clouds, cloud 2 and 4 seem to be marginally gravitational bound systems as their ratio of $M_{CO}$ to $M_{VIR}$ is about $2{\sim}3$, and the internal velocity dispersion is larger than the centroid velocity dispersion. Total mass estimated using a conversion factor from $^{12}CO$ luminosity is $7.9{\times}10^4M_{\odot}$.

In the previous experimental study about extrusion of circular product with four helical fins, it was known that product with helical fins may not to be rotated during extruding with rotating extrusion dies in spite of using twisted dies. According to the results of experiments with Plasticin material, it was anticipated that the extrusion load could be reduced if rotating dies could be used, because it needs high pressure in order to twist billet and form fin shape on the surface of product in the case of using conventional fixed helical dies. So, in this paper, according to the extrusion load analyzed by DEFORM-3D software, optimal rotational velocity of rotating dies can be obtained, and the twisting, angle of product can be analyzed during extruding product with helical fins in the case of two types of rotating of dies. The results of analysis by DEFORM-3D show that the twisting angle of product can be controlled by twisted angle of extrusion helical dies and the rotational velocity of helical dies.

We implemented a real-time radar system for an unmanned ground vehicle designed to run on unpaved or bumpy roads. The system must be able to detect slow targets in a cluttered environment and cover wide angular sections with high resolution at the same time. The system consists of array antennas, preprocessors for digital beam forming, and digital signal processors for the detection process which uses sawtooth waveforms and high-resolution estimation, and is called forward/backward spatial smoothing beamspace multiple signal classification (FBSS BS-MUSIC). We show that the sawtooth waveforms enhance the angular estimation capability of FBSS BS-MUSIC in addition to their well-known advantages of removing the ambiguity of targets and detecting slow targets with improved velocity resolution.
