  • In this study, CT specimens were prepared from spring steel(SUP9) processed shot peening which was room temperature, low temperature and high temperature experiment. And we got the following characteristics from fatigue crack growth test carried out in the environment of room, low temperature and high temperature at $25^{\circ}C$,$-30^{\circ}C$,$-50^{\circ}C$,$-70^{\circ}C$ and $-100^{\circ}C$ in the range of stress ratio of 0.05 by means of opening mode displacement. The threshold stress intensity factor range $\Delta K_{th}$ in the early stage of fatigue crack growth (Region I ) and stress intensity factor range $\Delta K$ in the stable of fatigue crack growth (Region II) was decreased in proportion to descend temperature. It assumed that the fatigue resistance characteristics and fracture strength at low temperature and high temperature is considerable higher than that of room temperature in the early stage and stable of fatigue crack growth region.

  • In this study, CT specimens were prepared from spring steel(SUP9) which was used in suspension of automobile for room temperature and low temperature service. We got the following characteristics from fatigue crack growth test carried out in the environment of room temperature and low temperature at $25^{\circ}C$, ­3$0^{\circ}C$, ­5$0^{\circ}C$, ­7$0^{\circ}C$ and ­10$0^{\circ}C$ in the range of stress ratio of 0.05 by means of opening mode displacement. The threshold stress intensity factor range ΔKth in the early stage of fatigue crack growth (Region I) and stress intensity factor range ΔK in the stable of fatigue crack growth (Region II) was decreased in proportion to descend temperature. It is assumed that the fatigue resistance characteristics and fracture strength at low temperature and high temperature is considerable higher than that of room temperature in the early stage and stable of fatigue crack growth region.

  • The fatigue crack propagation behavior of the SA516/70 steel which is used for pressure vessels was examined experimentally at room temperature, $150^{\circ}C$, $250^{\circ}C$ and $370^{\circ}C$ with stress ratio of R=0.1 and 0.3. The fatigue crack propagation rate da/dN related with the stress intensity factor range $\Omega\textrm{K}$ was influenced by the stress ratio within the stable growth of fatigue crack(Region II) with an increase in $\Omega\textrm{K}$. The resistance to the fatigue crack growth at high temperature is higher in comparison with that at room temperature, and the resistance attributed to the extent of plasticity-induced by compressive residual stress according to the cyclic loads. Fractographic examinations reveal that the differences of the fatigue crack growth characteristics between room and high temperatures are mainly explained by the crack closure and oxide-induced by high temperature.

  • The fatigue crack propagation behavior of the SA516-Grade 70 steel which is used for pressure vessels was experimentally examined under the condition of at room temperature, $150^{\circ}C$, $250^{\circ}C$ and $370^{\circ}C$ with stress ration of R=0.1 and 0.3.   • The lightness of components required in automobile and machinery industry is requiring high strength of components. In particular manufacturing process and new materials development for solving the fatigue fracture problem attendant upon high strength of suspension of automobile are actively advanced. In this paper, the effect of compressive residual stress of spring steel(JISG SUP-9) by shot-peening on fatigue crack growth characteristics in high temperatures($100^{\circ}$, $150^{\circ}$, $180^{\circ}$) was investigated with considering fracture mechanics. So, we can obtain followings. (1)Compressive residual stress decreases in high temperature, that is, with increasing temperature. (2)The effect of compressive residual stress on fatigue crack growth behavior in high temperature increases below ${\Delta}K=17{\sim}19MPa$ (3)It was investigated by SEM that the constraint of compress residual stress for plastic zone of fatigue crack tip was decreased in high temperature as compared with room temperature.

  • The lightness of components required in automobile and machinery industries is requiring high strength of components. Therefore this requirement is accomplished as the process of shot-peening method that the compressive residual stress is made on the metal surface as one of various improvement methods. Special research is, therefore, needed about compressive residual stress on the metal surface in the process of shot-peening method. Therefore, in this paper the effect of compressive residual stress of spring steel(JISG SUP-9) by shot-peening on fatigue crack growth characteristics in environmental condition(temperature) and mechanical condition(shot velocity, stress ratio) was investigated with considering fracture mechanics. By using the methods mentioned above, the following conclusions have been drawn. (1) The fatigue crack growth rate(da/dN) of the shot-peened material was lower than that of the un-peened one. In high temperature range. fatigue crack growth rate decreased with increasing temperature range, while fatigue crack growth rate increased by decreasing temperature in low temperature. (2) Fatigue life shows more improvement in the shot-peened material than in the un-peened material. And compressive residual stress of surface on the shot-peen processed operate resistance force of fatigue crack propagation.

크리이프-피로 상호작용하의 균열성장속도 예측에 관한 연구 (A Study on Prediction of Crack growth Rate Under Creep-Fatigue Interaction)

  • High temperature low cycle fatigue shows that cycle-dependent crack growth owing to cyclic plastic deformation occurred simultaneosly with time-dependent crack growth owing to intergranular deformation. Consequently, to estimate crack growth rate uniquely, many to investigators have proposed various kinds of parameters and theories but these could not produce satisfactory results. Therefore the goal of this study is focused on prediction of crack growth rate using predominant damage rule, linear cumulative damage rule and transitional parameter ${\Delta}J_c/{\Delta}J_f$. On the basis of these sinusoidal loading waveform at 600$^{\circ}C$ and 700$^{\circ}C$.
