고역률 고압나트륨램프용 전자식 안정기 (An Electronic Ballast wish High Power Factor for High Pressure Sodium Lamps)

  • 본 논문에서는 역률 개선용 제어 IC를 사용하여 고압나트륨램프의 역률을 개선시킨 전자석 안정기를 제안하였다. 또한 인버터 회로를 설계하여 시동전압의 과도특성을 해석하였으며, 전원측에 EMI 필터를 설계하여 전자식 안정기 시스템을 보호하였다. 자기식 안정기와 전자식 안정기에 대한 역률, THD 및 광속 등의 전기적 특성을 비교 측정하였다. 제안된 고압나트륨램프용 전자식 안정기의 출력을 측정한 결과 역률은 99.9[%], THD는 4.51[%]로 나타났다.

차아염소산나트륨을 이용한 천연가스 부취냄새 효과적 탈취방법 연구 (A Study on Effective Removal Method of Odorant Smell in Natural Gas using Sodium Hypochlorite)

  • 도시가스 회사는 설비의 유지보수 및 점검을 수행할 경우에 가스를 방산하는 경우가 있는데, 가스누출 오인으로 신고 및 주민불안이 발생하게 됨에 따라 활성물질을 통한 천연가스의 부취냄새를 효과적으로 탈취하는 방법을 연구하는데 그 목적을 두었다. 본 연구에서는 천연가스 부취냄새 탈취를 위해 활성물질인 차아염소산나트륨을 이용한 산화법을 통해 천연가스 부취제와 활성물질간 효율적 혼합방법을 위해 간이 탈취방산장치를 제작하여 현장에서 실험을 통해 부취농도를 확인하였다. 탈취실험장치의 기본원리는 방산되는 가스(0.8~1.0MPa)의 에너지를 이용하여 활성물질용액이 첨가되도록 하여 가스 내 부취제와 혼합과정을 거친 후 방출구를 통해 대기로 방산된다. 도시가스 부취제의 활성물질인 차아염소산나트륨을 이용하여 산화반응을 통해 벤츄리와 혼합용기의 직렬연결방식을 적용하여 제작한 장치를 통해 현장에서 효과적으로 부취냄새를 제거할 수 있었다. 하지만, 실질적인 효과를 거두기 위해서는 도시가스의 다량과 고압에서 방산되는 조건에서의 적용하는 문제해결 과제가 남아 있다.

이온성 고분자를 이용한 나트륨 섭취 감소 효과 (Effect of Ionic Polymers on Sodium Intake Reduction)

  • 염화나트륨은 우리 몸의 체액에 존재하며, 혈액 속에 약 0.9 wt%의 농도로 존재하여 삼투압을 유지하는 중요한 역할을 하고 있다. 그러나 사람들이 섭취하는 소금의 양은 증가하는 추세이며, 과량 섭취로 인해 고혈압 등의 원인이 되기도 한다. 본 연구에서는 생체적합성 이온성 고분자들의 특정 반대이온을 칼슘과 칼륨으로 치환시켜 나트륨 이온과의 이온교환을 통해 고분자에 나트륨이 흡착되어 대변으로 배출시킬 수 있는지를 in vitro 실험과 in vivo 실험을 통해 연구하였다. 조사된 고분자들 중 칼슘과 칼륨의 폴리스티렌설폰산, 칼슘 치환된 카라기난과 타마린드가 우수한 나트륨 치환 능력을 보유하고 있음을 확인하였고, 체온과 인공위액 및 인공장액의 조건에서도 나트륨 치환능을 유지하는 것을 확인하였다. 이러한 고분자들의 난용성 특징을 통해 구강 내에서는 맛의 변화를 주지 않으면서 나트륨을 흡착해 배설하는 메카니즘을 나트륨 과다 섭취에 따른 문제 해결을 위해 활용할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

Novel Antihypertension Mechanism of 𝛽-Glucan by Corin and ANP-Mediated Natriuresis in Mice

  • Many of the 𝛽-glucans are known to have antihypertensive activities, but, except for angiotensin-converting enzyme II inhibition, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Corin is an atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP)-converting enzyme. Activated corin cleaves pro-ANP to ANP, which regulates water-sodium balance and lowers blood pressure. Here, we reported a novel antihypertensive mechanism of 𝛽-glucans, involved with corin and ANP in mice. We showed that multiple oral administrations of 𝛽-glucan induced the expression of corin and ANP, and also increased natriuresis in mice. Microarray analysis showed that corin gene expression was only upregulated in mice liver by multiple, not single, oral administrations of the 𝛽-glucan fraction of Phellinus baumii (BGF). Corin was induced in liver and kidney tissues by the 𝛽-glucans from zymosan and barley, as well as by BGF. In addition to P. baumii, 𝛽-glucans from two other mushrooms, Phellinus linteus and Ganoderma lucidum, also induced corin mRNA expression in mouse liver. ELISA immunoassays showed that ANP production was increased in liver tissue by all the 𝛽-glucans tested, but not in the heart and kidney. Urinary sodium excretion was significantly increased by treatment with 𝛽-glucans in the order of BGF, zymosan, and barley, both in 1% normal and 10% high-sodium diets. In conclusion, we found that the oral administration of 𝛽-glucans could induce corin expression, ANP production, and sodium excretion in mice. Our findings will be helpful for investigations of 𝛽-glucans in corin and ANP-related fields, including blood pressure, salt-water balance, and circulation.

추출 시간을 달리하여 제조한 대구 육수의 품질 특성 - 고압 가열 추출 방식으로 - (Quality Characteristics of Cod Stock with Different Extraction Time - Using High Pressure Extraction Time -)

  • In this study, cod bone were used as the main ingredient of a stock that can be eaten with Korean dried noodles. The stock was produced with heating for 30, 40, 50, 60, or 70 minutes using high-pressure extraction methods. Moisture content, chromaticity, pH, sugar content, salinity, mineral contents, quantitative analysis, and overall acceptance were studied to determine the optimal heating time. In our result, S1 the showed highest water contents 98.10%, while S5 showed the lowest moisture content (97.47%). There were no significant difference in pH between samples, while salinity and sugar content increased with increases in heating time. In terms of mineral contents, sodium and potassium showed proportional difference with increases in heating time, however, magnesium, calcium, and iron did not change. The results from a quantitative analysis test showed that transparency, fishy smell, delicate flavor, savory flavor, salt taste, and umami taste became stronger with increases in heating time increase. From the above results, the overall taste of the stock increases with increases in high-pressure heating time. Specifically, S4 high-pressure heating scored the highest on appearance, flavor, taste, after-taste, and overall acceptance. Thus, 60 minutes of high-pressure heating time is most desirable when producing stock with cod bones as a main ingredient.

일부 성인남녀의 무기질 (Ca, P, Fe, Na, K, Zn) 섭취와 혈압 및 혈중 지질과의 관련성 (Relation among Mineral (Ca, P, Fe, Na, K,Zn) Intakes, Blood Pressure, and Blood Lipids in Korean Adults)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relation among mineral intakes, blood pressure, and blood lipids for health management of Korean adults over 20 years old. Subjects were recruited from the district where they lived, which included rural (Yoju, n = 137) , coastal (Taean, n = 100) , and urban district (Suwon, n : 117) . hnthropornekical measurement, blood pressure measurement, dietary intake assessment using 24-hour recall method, and blood collection and analysis of blood lipids were conducted. The average age, height, weight, and BMI were 54.1 years, 168.5 cm, 67.3 kg, and 24.5 kg/$m^{2}$ for men and 53.9 years,153.8 cm,59.2 kg, and 25.0 kg/$m^{2}$ for women, respectively. The mean daily intakes of total food and energy were 1219.1 g and 1740.9 kcal for men and 1071.3 g and 1432.6 kcal for women. The mineral intakes of men and women were 448.5 mg and 400.4 mg for calcium,955.3 mg and 803.7 mg for phosphorus, 13.3 mg and 11.1 mg for iron, 4302.8 mg and 3393.3 mg for sodium,2588.0 mg and 2264.9 mg for potassium, and 8.9 mg and 7.3 mg for zinc. The daily intakes of energy, calcium, zinc, vitamin $B_{2}$, and vitamin I were $76.1\%$, $60.1\%$, $73.1\%$, $68.6\%$, and $80.4\%$ of RDAs, respectively. The intakes of energy, calcium, zinc, vitamin $B_{2}$ and I were not meet Korean RDAs. Especially, calcium, zinc, and vitamin $B_{2}$ were less than $75\%$ of RDAs. Blood pressure of the subjects was 128.3/75.5 mmHg for men and 124.1/73.7 mmHg for women. Serum lipids of men and women were 180.2 mg/dL and 184.9 mg/dL for total cholesterol, 160.8 mg/dL and 137.6 mg/dL for triglyceride,41.5 mg/dL and 44.7 mg/dL for HDL-cholesterol,106.6 mg/dL and 112.7 mg/dL for LDL-cholesterol, and 3.5 and 3.3 for atherogenic index. While serum triglyceride and AI of men was significantly higher, HDL-cholesterol was lower than those of women. In the relation among mineral intakes, blood pressure, and serum lipids, we found a significantly negative correlation of intakes of calcium, calcium/phosphorus, calcium density with systolic blood pressure. There were significantly negative correlation between intake of calcium/phosphorus and serum cholesterol, calcium density and serum cholesterol, sodium intake and serum HDL-cholesterol. Based on these results, we concluded that high intakes of calcium, calcium/phosphorus and low sodium intake were associated with favorable blood pressure and serum lipid profiles in adult men and women.   • A reduced NaCl intake for the general population of the world has been recommended to reduce the overall blood pressure level and hence to reduce the overall incidence of cardiovascular disease. A high NaCl diet convincingly contributes to elevated arterial pressure in humans and animal models of hypertension. Among individuals there is considerable variability of blood pressure responsiveness to NaCl intake. In normotensive as well as hypertensive subjects, blood pressure can be judged to be salt sensitivity (SS) when observed to vary directly and substantially with the net intake of NaCl. The prevalence of SS in normotensive adults in the U.S. ranges from 15% to 42% and in hypertensive adults from 28% to 74%. SS is a risk factor for hypertension and may be an important marker in the identification of children for hypertension prevention programs. High NaCl intakes produce expansion of the extracellular fluid volume and thus increase blood pressure. Nonchloride salts of sodium does not expand the extracellular fluid volume and does not alter blood pressure. Blood pressure response to NaCl may be modified by other components of the diet. Low dietary intakes of potassium or calcium augment NaCl-induced increases of blood pressure. Conversely, high dietary intakes of potassium or calcium attenuate NaCl-induced hypertension. A greater intakes of potassium or calcium may prevent or delay the occurrence of hypertension. SS occurs when dietary potassium is even marginally deficient but is dose-dependently suppressed when dietary potassium is increased within its normal range. Orally administered KHCO$_3$, abundant in fruits and vegetates, but not KCl has a calcium-retaining effect which may contributed to its reversal of pressor effect of dietary NaCl. Since nutrients other than NaCl also affect blood pressure levels, a reduced NaCl intake should be only one component of a nutritional strategy to lower blood pressure.

Association of dietary calcium, magnesium, sodium, and potassium intake and hypertension: a study on an 8-year dietary intake data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: There has been an increased interest in determining calcium magnesium, sodium, and potassium's distinct effects on hypertension over the past decade, yet they simultaneously regulate blood pressure. We aimed at examining the association of dietary calcium, magnesium, sodium, and potassium independently and jointly with hypertension using National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey data from 2007 to 2014. MATERIALS/METHODS: The associations were examined on a large cross-sectional study involving 16684 US adults aged>20 years, using multivariate analyses with logistical models. RESULTS: Sodium and calcium quartiles assessed alone were not associated with hypertension. Potassium was negatively associated with hypertension in the highest quartile, 0.64 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.48-0.87). When jointly assessed using the high and low cut-off points, low sodium and corresponding high calcium, magnesium, and potassium intake somewhat reduced the odds of hypertension 0.39 (95% CI, 0.20-0.76). The sodium-to-potassium ratio was positively associated with hypertension in the highest quartile1.50 (95% CI, 1.11-2.02). When potassium was adjusted for sodium intake and sodium-to-potassium ratio assessed among women, increased odds of hypertension were reported in the highest quartile as 2.02 (95% CI, 1.18-3.34) and 1.69 (95% CI, 1.12-2.57), respectively. The association of combined minerals on hypertension using dietary goals established that men meeting the reference intakes for calcium and exceeding for magnesium had reduced odds of hypertension 0.51 (95% CI, 0.30-0.89). Women exceeding the recommendations for both calcium and magnesium had the lower reduced odds of 0.30 (95% CI, 0.10-0.69). CONCLUSIONS: Our results suggest that the studied minerals' association on hypertension is stronger when jointly assessed, mostly after gender stratification. As compared to men, women increased their risk of hypertension even with a low sodium intake. Women would also reasonably reduce their risk of developing hypertension by increasing calcium and magnesium intake. In comparison, men would somewhat be protected from developing hypertension with calcium intake meeting the dietary goals and magnesium exceeding the nutritional goals.

소금 섭취 행태와 혈압: 맛에 대한 민감도와 선호도의 영향 (Salt Intake Behavior and Blood Pressure: the effect of taste sensitivity and preference)

  • The literature suggested that a small reduction in overall blood pressure can have a large effect on overall prevalence of hypertension, and therefore, the affect of taste preferences of the population on salt intake should be considered for long-term blood pressure intervention programs. The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of salt taste preference and salt taste sensitivity on salt intake behavior as risk factors for high blood pressure. We collected information on blood pressure, diet and lifestyle behaviors, salt taste preference and salt taste sensitivity from 540 respondents from Suseo-dong, Seoul. Salt taste sensitivity was assessed by administering a 1% NaCl solution to the subject's tongue and measuring the perceived intensity on 10 level scale. Salt intake behavior was classified into 3 categories: frequency of high-sodium foods, practice of salt-reducing behavior and frequency of vegetable and fruit intake. Salt taste preference showed a significant relation to the subjects' blood pressure, i.e. subjects with a higher salt preference had higher blood pressure. Salt taste sensitivity did not show a significant relation to blood pressure. However, there was a positive correlation between salt taste preference and salt taste sensitivity. Among the 3 indicators used to measure salt intake behavior, the practice of salt-reducing behavior remained significantly correlated to blood pressure. Moreover, salt-reducing behavior and salt taste preference showed a significant correlation, i.e. people who do not like salty foods tend to practice more salt-reducing behavior, leading to reduced levels in blood pressure. In a population, a small reduction in overall blood pressure can have large effects in overall prevalence of hypertension, in contrast to clinical studies where achievement of an individual's normal blood pressure is emphasized. Therefore, taste preference of the population should be considered for long-term blood pressure intervention programs.

정상생활을 하는 고혈압 여성에 있어서 일상적인 나트륨, 칼슘 섭취습관이 혈압조절 관련 호르몬에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Habitual Calcium and Sodium Intakes on Blood Pressure Regulating Hormone in Free-Liveing Hypertensive Women)

  • In order to evaluate the effect of habitual Na and Ca intake on blood pressure regulation, we measured the habitual dietary intakes of Na and Ca, urinary excretion of Ca, Na and K, and plasma level of renin activity, aldosterone, and indices of Ca metabolism in 27 untreated hypertensive women and 30 age-matched normal women on a free diet. Hypertensive and total subjects were divided into four groups according to habitual dietary intakes of Na and Ca as low Na-low Ca(LNLC), low Na-high Ca(LNHC), high Na-low Ca(HNLC), and high Na-high Ca(HNHC). HNLC hypertensive group showed the lowest level of plasma renin activity, 25-(OH) Vit D$_3$, calcitonin and serum total Ca, and presented the highest level of PTH and urinary excretions of Na/K and Ca/Cr. There were no significant difference in plasma level of aldosterone and urinary excretion of Na and K among four hypertensive groups. When all subjects were divided into four groups according to the same method, HNLC group showed the highest level of blood pressure with no statistical significance and the lowest level of calcitonin and total serum Ca. The above results indicated that renin-aldosterone system and Ca regulating hormone has a mutual relationship in hypertension. Na and Ca may interact each other, rather than affecting independently blood pressure control. As a result, considering the fact that daily balance of Na and Ca intakes affects Na and Ca regulating hormones and urinary excretion of Na and Ca, it may be involved in blood pressure control. These results suggest that maintaining an adequate intake of Ca with less intake of Na may prevent from the risk of hypertension. (Korean J Nutrition 34(4) : 409~416, 2001)
