In this study, a novel method for dimension measurement of large-scale moving objects using stereo camera with 2-degree of freedom (2-DOF) mechanism is presented. The proposed method utilizes both the advantages of stereo vision technique and the enlarged visibility range of camera due to 2-DOF rotary mechanism in measuring large-scale moving objects. The measurement system employs a stereo camera combined with a 2-DOF rotary mechanism that allows capturing separate corners of the measured object. The measuring algorithm consists of two main stages. First, three-dimensional (3-D) positions of the corners of the measured object are determined based on stereo vision algorithms. Then, using the rotary angles of the 2-DOF mechanism the dimensions of the measured object are calculated via coordinate transformation. The proposed system can measure the dimensions of moving objects with relatively slow and steady speed. We showed that the proposed system guarantees high measuring accuracy with some experiments.
Purpose: This ethnography in communication aimed to explore the changes in consciousness on time and temporality as an elderly became older. This study focused on time as a primary message systems of Edward Hall. Methods: The assumption of the study was that the aging body as an expression of biological time is a meta of physical, personal, and social time. Data were collected from iterative fieldwork in a clan between Jan, 1990 and April, 2007. The key informants were 13 women and men aged 70 years old or more at the beginning of study. Changes in physical time and temporality as the women's body declined in its physical function was analyzed. As the cultural context, informants' every life and the history of the clan were also analyzed. Results: The meta-time of the informants were constituted as follows: In the low-contextual dimension, physical time perceived as longer and personal time perceived as shorter than they were young; In high-contextual dimension, informant and residents had a polychronic perspective and aged-centered time perspectives.; In the supernatural dimension of time, sacred time were reinforced by rituals. Informants extended temporality to their springs' world and ancestors' world. Conclusion: As the informants recognized slugged body movements and time-limited present life, their views on their life world towards the future of spring and of the sacred world of ancestors. Thereby, their identity as a member of a clan was reinforced. This result informed us on what we should focus on when caring with older women.
This study is designed to identify the dimensions of clothing shopping motives and clothing involvements which influence consumers' store choice behaviors and to find out what variables have a direct influence on the attitudes of customers toward stores. The empirical research was made through the survey on 300 female and male shoppers who purchased clothing. The major results of this study are as follows : 1. The dimension of clothing shopping motives is composed of leisure-related shopping motive, products-related shopping motive, and economy-related shopping motive. And the dimension of clothing involvement consists of pleasure involvement factor, fashion involvement factor, and symbol involvement factor. 2. The dimension of the store choice criteria is composed of such five factors as promotion, products, prices/salespersons, service, and location. 3. There is a positive correlation of the products-related shopping factor and the leisure-related shopping motive only. And the store choice criteria have a positive correlation with all the factors of clothing involvement. 4. The high-shopping-motive group turns out to pay more importance to such factors as products and location than the low-shopping-motive group. 5. The variables which have influences on the attitudes of customers toward stores tum out to be such factors as fashion involvement, promotion in the store choice criteria, and gender.
Instructional objectives clearly show what teachers should teach in the class and how they lead the class, focusing on a certain activity for their students in the class. Clear instructional objectives are a prerequisite for teachers to accomplish effectively their curriculum. The revised Bloom's taxonomy table of educational objectives has been introduced in 50 years since the publication of his original taxonomy table in 1956. Bloom's revised taxonomy table of educational objectives has two-dimensions, the "cognitive process" dimension and the "knowledge" dimension, and it classifies class objectives more elaborately and clearly. This study was designed to classify instructional objectives stated in elementary science guidebooks for teachers into Bloom's revised taxonomy table, and see how the objectives of elementary science classes were categorized by grade level and areas. In addition, this study examined how the objectives of elementary science classes by study area were classified into the new taxonomy table. This study classified 618 elementary science instructional objectives of third- to sixth-grade science guidebooks for teachers into Bloom's revised taxonomy table. The results showed that the objectives of elementary science classes emphasized disproportionately some of the knowledge and cognitive process dimensions. In the area of subjects while the percentages of factual knowledge were very high, those of meta-cognitive knowledge were low.

In this thesis, characteristics of compact PIFA are analyzed for operation in dual frequencies (dual-PIFA) as variety of parameters. The antenna is composed of two patches. These are operated in high frequency and low frequency. The dimension of experiential antenna is fixed for attaching at the handset. The variable parameters are dimension of small patch, length of shorting strip and dimension of folded conductor plate, the frequencies are 900 MHz and 1800 MHz. The compact antenna is implemented with 2-layer type, electric field intensities and radiation patterns are simulated. In order to analyze characteristics of a performance as variety of parameters, FDTD method is used.
Effects of the cross-sectional dimension and moisture profile of wood specimens on the ultrasonic sound velocities of radiata pine heartwood and sapwood. Each moisture profile model specimen was made by composing five wood pieces with various moisture contents. As the cross-sectional dimensions decreased the ultrasonic velocities of both heartwood and sapwood decreased by 4~8%. In the ultrasonic signals transmitted through the specimens low frequency components more dominated than high frequency components as the dimension of cross section increased. The specimens with the same average MCs and different moisture profiles showed different ultrasonic velocities. By plotting the ultrasonic velocities against the average moisture contents of the inner three pieces of the moisture profile model specimens it was revealed that three distinct plot patterns existed.
This study reviews the influence of culture in interpersonal servicescapes by examining the restaurant retail setting. Two cultures (Canada and France) are surveyed in order to better understand their retail expectations towards interpersonal servicescapes. Using Hofstede's (1991) cultural dimensions to explain some of the differences between Canadian and French restaurant patrons, this study demonstrates a potentially interesting research avenue in the field of cross-cultural interpersonal services marketing. It demonstrates that cultural dimensions do not operate independently but interdependently. Understanding this can help retailers better explain complex service interactions between countries that may appear similar in terms of various socio-demographic features. In this exploratory research, a measure via exploratory factor analysis was developed, one that encompasses both the physical and service aspects common to interpersonal servicescape by using personality traits. This measure was tested in order to better understand the service expectations between two cultures, Canada and France. Five dimensional structures were uncovered in both cultures but with different traits and groupings. The differences between the traits uncovered and the overall Canadian and French personality structures find some explanation using Hofstede's (1991) cultural dimensions. The results of this survey point to a possible explanation as to why when services are transferred between cultures, the perceptions of them can be different and sometimes even lead to service failure. There are clearly some cultural differences between the Canadian and French consumers and their overall expectations regarding their consumption experience. Reviewing the first factor of the French and Canadian personality structures shows that the individualist/collectivist differences are apparent between the Canadian and the French cultures. The second dimension also has quite a few traits in common, five, all of which have the personal treatment aspect of the restaurant experience that a service provider would be responsible for: polite, respectful, and dedicated. Notable is that the French dimension does not include the authenticity or the hospitable aspect of the experience but includes even more features that are inherent to the personal interaction, such as charming and courteous. The third dimension of the Canadian and French structures reflects completely different expectations. Whereas the French dimension centers around energy and enthusiasm, the Canadian version is more laid-back and relaxed. There is extroversion in the French dimension to introversion in the Canadian dimension. This could be explained by differences on the Uncertainty Avoidance dimension as outlined by Hofstede (1991). The fourth dimension seems to confirm previously outlined cultural differences. Whereas Canadians, being a bit lower on uncertainty avoidance and power distance, prefer an intimate and private experience, the French continue to expect extraversion and inclusive features to their experience. The fifth dimension is in the French personality structure a clear expression of the high power distance society, where the roles of the players in the restaurant experience are clearly defined and the rules of engagement preserved. This study demonstrates that different cultures clearly do relate to different expectations regarding interpersonal services. This is apparent in the dimensions that come up in both the French and the Canadian personality structures, not only in terms of how different they are but also in with which cultural dimensions these can be explained. For interpersonal servicescapes, the use of personality traits is interesting as it allows for both physical and service features to be accounted for. Furthermore, the social component inherent to interpersonal servicescapes surfaces in most of the dimensions of the service personality structures. The quality of social exchanges is extremely important, and this even more so in cross-cultural situations, where the expec tations regarding the service experience may vary. As demonstrated by this research and using Hofstede's (1991) paradigm, not all societies will have the same expectations pertaining to the interpersonal services. Furthermore, the traditions surrounding the type of service can also have an impact on the service evaluations and differ between countries and cultures. However, using personality traits may also allow for retailers to see which service traits are common to two or more cultures where they seek to be present, and focus on these in the offering. The findings demonstrate the importance of the individualist and collectivist dimension for interpersonal servicescapes. This difference between the French and the Canadian personality structure is apparent in the most dominant dimension as well as within others. The findings are a step in explaining how retailers can transfer and then measure interpersonal services across cultures.
PURPOSE. The purpose of this clinical study was to evaluate the frequency and type of prosthetic complications in relation to type and properties of removable dentures and to investigate the influence of these complications and several data about the existing dentures on patient satisfaction. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Ninety nine patients (44 males and 55 females) wearing removable dentures have been included in the study. The complications of the patients were recorded; patient satisfaction was determined with a Visual Analog Scale (VAS) and the relationship of complications and patient satisfaction with several data about the dentures such as denture age, type of denture, centric relation and vertical dimension was investigated. Kruskal Wallis, Mann Whitney U and Chi square tests were used for statistical analyses. The results were evaluated statistically at a significance level of $P$ <.05. RESULTS. Need for addition of artificial teeth for dentures with correct centric relations was found to be significantly lower than dentures with wrong centric relations ($P$ <.01). Loss of retention, ulcerations and high vertical dimension affected the VAS chewing ability scores negatively and ulcerations affected the VAS phonation scores negatively ($P$ <.05). CONCLUSION. Considering the results of this study, it can be concluded that loss of retention, ulcerations and high vertical dimension caused patient dissatisfaction. Additionally, dentures with wrong centric relations caused need for addition of artificial teeth.

Vector quantizer (VQ) is an efficient data compression technique for low bit rate applications. However, the major disadvantage of VQ is its encoding complexity which increases dramatically as the vector dimension and bit rate increase. Even though one can use a modified VQ to reduce the encoding complexity, it is nearly impossible to implement such a VQ at a high bit rate or for a large vector dimension because of the enormously large memory requirement for the codebook and the very large training sequence (TS) size. To overcome this difficulty, in this paper we propose a novel structurally constrained VQ for the high bit rate and the large vector dimension cases in order to obtain VQ-level performance. Furthermore, this VQ can be extended to the low bit rate applications. The proposed quantization scheme has a form of feed-forward adaptive quantizer with a short adaptation period. Hence, we call this quantization scheme sample-adaptive product quantizer (SAPQ). SAPQ can provide a 2 ~3dB improvement over the Lloyd-Max scalar quantizers.

It is widely believed that increasing socio-economic polarization inspired by globalization and economic restructuring worsens residential segregation by class in Korean cities. However, the existing literature falls short in showing the recent changes of the residential segregation, particularly after the 1997 financial crisis, with reliable and systematic segregation measures. Noting that there are the two major dimension in residential segregation - evenness-concentration and exposure-clustering - this study introduced not only global measure (dissimilarity index and isolation/interaction index) but also local measures (location quotient and Local Moran's I) for each dimension. These measures are applied to the case study of Seoul in the 2000s. The class is defined by education attainment and the data is obtain through the MicroData System Service System(MDSS). The result shows that the residential segregation by education attainment persists through 2000s and even get worse in some dimension. More significantly, it turns out that high-class and low-class residence are nearly mirror-images of each other, indicating high segregation.
