Super resolution image reconstruction method refers to image processing algorithms that produce a high resolution(HR) image from observed several low resolution(LR) images of the same scene. This method has proven to be useful in many practical cases where multiple frames of the same scene can be obtained, such as satellite imaging, video surveillance, video enhancement and restoration, digital mosaicking, and medical imaging. In this paper, we applied the super resolution reconstruction method in spatial domain to video sequences. Test images are adjacently sampled images from continuous video sequences and are overlapped at high rate. We constructed the observation model between the HR images and LR images applied with the Maximum A Posteriori(MAP) reconstruction method which is one of the major methods in the super resolution grid construction. Based on the MAP method, we reconstructed high resolution images from low resolution images and compared the results with those from other known interpolation methods.

Light field image captured by a microlens array-based camera has many limitations in practical use due to its low spatial resolution and angular resolution. High spatial resolution images can be easily acquired with a single image super-resolution technique that has been studied a lot recently. But there is a problem in that high angular resolution images are distorted in the process of using disparity information inherent among images, and thus it is difficult to obtain a high-quality angular resolution image. In this paper, we propose light field angular super-resolution that extracts an initial feature map using an dilated convolutional neural network in order to effectively extract the view difference information inherent among images and generates target image using a residual neural network. The proposed network showed superior performance in PSNR and subjective image quality compared to existing angular super-resolution networks.

This paper proposes a fast learning-based interpolation algorithm to up-scale an input low-resolution image into a high-resolution image. In conventional learning-based super-resolution, a certain relationship between low-resolution and high-resolution images is learned from various training images and a specific high frequency synthesis information is derived. And then, an arbitrary low resolution image can be super-resolved using the high frequency synthesis information. However, such super-resolution algorithms require heavy memory space to store huge synthesis information as well as significant computation due to two-dimensional matching process. In order to mitigate this problem, this paper presents one-dimensional patch-based learning and synthesis. So, we can noticeably reduce memory cost and computational complexity. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm provides higher PSNR and SSIM of about 0.7dB and 0.01 on average, respectively than conventional bicubic interpolation algorithm.

SAR(Synthetic Aperture Radar) is an all-weather imaging radar and is widely used in military and civil application. Especially high-resolution SAR images are very important in military purpose because it can be used at target recognition application. LIG Nex1 developed a SAR system called NexSAR with bandwidth of 600 MHz and resolution of 30 cm to obtain technologies required for high-resolution SAR. To achieve 600 MHz bandwidth of waveform generator, two DDSs are used and its output signals are SSB modulated. And deramp technique is used to reduce the sampling rate of ADC at high resolution mode. NexSAR has stripmap and spotlight modes and its functionality and performances are evaluated through ground and flight tests.
In August 2020, a debris flow occurred in Gokseon, Jeollanam-do, that resulted in the death of five residents. In this study area, high-resolution 0.03 m topographic information was generated through photogrammetry, and the amount of soil movement/loss was measured. In addition, sensitivity analysis was performed for flow depth, flow velocity, and debris flow area with the program Flo-2D using the difference in simulation parameter that discharge and topographic information. Wth increasing debris flow input discharge, increases were seen in flow depth, flow velocity, and debris flow area, as ell as in the gap in results from high-resolution topographic information and low-resolution topographic information. Also, when high-resolution topographic information was used, the results were similar to the actual (measured) flow direction of the debris flow. Therefore, the application of high-resolution topographic information increases the accuracy of the debris flow analysis results compared with low-resolution information. Results could be further imporved in the future by considering geological information such as yield stress and viscosity.

Accurate characterization of terrestrial precipitation variation from high spatial resolution satellite sensors is beneficial for urban hydrology and microscale agriculture modeling, as well as natural disasters (e.g., urban flooding) early warning. However, the widely-used top-down approach for precipitation retrieval from microwave satellites is limited in several hydrological and agricultural applications due to their coarse spatial resolution. In this research, we aim to apply a novel bottom-up method, the parameterized SM2RAIN, where precipitation can be estimated from soil moisture signals based on an inversion of water balance model, to generate high spatial resolution terrestrial precipitation estimates at 0.01º grid (roughly 1-km) from the C-band SAR Sentinel-1. This product was then tested against a common reanalysis-based precipitation data and a domestic rain gauge network from the Korean Meteorological Administration (KMA) over central South Korea, since a clear difference between climatic types (coasts and mainlands) and land covers (croplands and mixed forests) was reported in this area. The results showed that seasonal precipitation variability strongly affected the SM2RAIN performances, and the product derived from separated parameters (rainy and non-rainy seasons) outperformed that estimated considering the entire year. In addition, the product retrieved over the mainland mixed forest region showed slightly superior performance compared to that over the coastal cropland region, suggesting that the 6-day time resolution of S1 data is suitable for capturing the stable precipitation pattern in mainland mixed forests rather than the highly variable precipitation pattern in coastal croplands. Future studies suggest comparing this product to the traditional top-down products, as well as evaluating their integration for enhancing high spatial resolution precipitation over entire South Korea.
The position control is very important in semiconductor manufacturing devices, precision machining tools, precision measuring instruments, etc. The accuracy of measurement for the distance in these devices affect on the performance of the whole devices. Therefore, in those precision instruments, a sensing device that can measure the distance of movement with high-precision resolution is required. In this paper, a novel hybrid (digital and analog) type encoder is proposed. It is shown that from several experiments, a high-resolution angular position measurement device can be designed with a low cost incremental encoder and a DSP controller.

An UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) is a flight system that is designed to conduct missions without a pilot. Compared to traditional airborne-based photogrammetry, UAV-based photogrammetry is inexpensive and can obtain high-spatial resolution data quickly. In this study, we aimed to classify the land cover using high-spatial resolution images obtained using a UAV. An RGB camera was used to obtain high-spatial resolution orthoimage. For accurate classification, multispectral image about same areas were obtained using a multispectral sensor. A DSM (Digital Surface Model) and a modified NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) were generated using images obtained using the RGB camera and multispectral sensor. Pixel-based classification was performed for twelve classes by using the RF (Random Forest) method. The classification accuracy was evaluated based on the error matrix, and it was confirmed that the proposed method effectively classified the area compared to supervised classification using only the RGB image.
We have developed a 470 x 235ppi poly-Si TFT LCD with a novel pixel arrangement, called HDDP (Horizontally Double-Density Pixels), for high-resolution 2D and 3D autostereoscopic display. 3D image quality is especially high in a lenticular-lens-equipped 3D mode because both horizontal resolution and vertical resolution are high, and because these resolutions are equal. 3D and 2D images can be displayed simultaneously in the same picture. In addition, 3D images can be displayed anywhere and 2D characters can be made to appear at different depths with perfect legibility. No switching of 2D/3D modes is necessary, and the design's thin and uncomplicated structure makes it especially suitable for mobile terminals.
