Recently high dynamic range imaging technique is hot issue in computer graphic area. We present a progressive tone mapping algorithm, which is based on weighted least squares optimization framework. Our approach combines weighted leastsquaresfiltering with iCAM06, for showing more perceptual high dynamic range images in conventional display, while avoiding visual halo artifacts. We decompose high dynamic range image into base layer and detail layer. The base layer has large scale variation, it is obtained by using weighted least squares filtering, and then the base layer incorporates iCAM06 model. Then, adaptive compression on the base layer according to human visual system. Only the base layer reduces contrast, and preserving detail. The resultshows more perceptual color appearance and preserve fine detail, while avoiding common artifacts.
Recently, various daylight evaluation methods for visual environment have been developed; simulation analysis methods, numerical calculation, and data monitoring methods. However, it is impossible for simulation analysis to make real scenes and visualize real images exactly. Also, a numerical calculation is considered as an out of date and time-consuming mean. Therefore, for acquisition of accurate results, many studies often use the monitoring data methods. Especially, most studies regarding discomfort glare are evaluated by measuring the physical quantity of luminance through traditional measuring Minolta Luminance meters as an instrument. But, this method has a difficulty in measuring several points at the same time because of the limitation of spaces and time when mapping. So, this study focused on the potential usefulness of High Dynamic Range photography technique as a luminance mapping tool. In order to evaluate the accuracy of proposed programs such as webHDR, Photomatix and PHOTOLUX, this paper has conducted an experiment by using Canon EOS 5D and NICON Coolpix8400 digital camera.

In this study, we propose a machine vision system with a high object recognition rate. By utilizing a multiple-exposure image sensing technique, the proposed deep learning-based machine vision system can cover a wide light intensity range without further learning processes on the various light intensity range. If the proposed machine vision system fails to recognize object features, the system operates in a multiple-exposure sensing mode and detects the target object that is blocked in the near dark or bright region. Furthermore, short- and long-exposure images from the multiple-exposure sensing mode are synthesized to obtain accurate object feature information. That results in the generation of a wide dynamic range of image information. Even with the object recognition resources for the deep learning process with a light intensity range of only 23 dB, the prototype machine vision system with the multiple-exposure imaging method demonstrated an object recognition performance with a light intensity range of up to 96 dB.

The approaches to overcome the limited spatial resolution and the limited dynamic range of image sensors have been studied independently. A high resolution image is reconstructed from multiple low resolution observations and a wide dynamic range image is reconstructed from differently exposed multiple low dynamic range in es based on signal processing approach. In practical situations, it is reasonable to address them in a unified context because the recorded image suffers from limitations of both spatial resolution and dynamic range. In this paper, the image acquisition process including limited spatial resolution and limited dynamic range is modelled. With the image acquisition model, the response function of the imaging system is estimated and the single image of which spatial resolution and dynamic range are simultaneously enhanced is obtained. Experimental results indicate that the proposed algorithm outperforms the conventional approaches that perform the high resolution and wide dynamic range reconstruction sequentially with respect to both objective and subjective criteria.
High-order field gradients are useful for spatial localization of a volume of interest and dynamic range improvement of signal detection in NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) spectroscopy and imaging. This paper proposes a design method of shielded high-order gradient coils to reduce tile effect of eddy current on tile spectroscopy and imaging results. According to the experimental results, the shielded gradient coils produce less than 2 % eddy current compared to non-shielded coils. Two shielded $z^2$ gradient coils have been designed and constructed for 1.5 T whole-body and 3.0 T animal NMR imaging systems. Experimental results are in good agreement with the theoretically expected behavior and show the utility of the shielded high-order gradient coils.
Uniformity is a key feature of state-of-the-art infrared focal planed array (IRFPA) and infrared imaging system. Unlike traditional infrared telescope facility, a ground-based infrared radiant characteristics measurement system with an IRFPA not only provides a series of high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) infrared image but also ensures the validity of radiant measurement data. Normally, a long integration time tends to produce a high SNR infrared image for infrared radiant characteristics radiometry system. In view of the variability of and uncertainty in the measured target's energy, the operation of switching the integration time and attenuators usually guarantees the guality of the infrared radiation measurement data obtainted during the infrared radiant characteristics radiometry process. Non-uniformity correction (NUC) coefficients in a given integration time are often applied to a specified integration time. If the integration time is switched, the SNR for the infrared imaging will degenerate rapidly. Considering the effect of the SNR for the infrared image and the infrared radiant characteristics radiometry above, we propose a-wide-dynamic-range NUC algorithm. In addition, this essasy derives and establishes the mathematical modal of the algorithm in detail. Then, we conduct verification experiments by using a ground-based MWIR(Mid-wave Infared) radiant characteristics radiometry system with an Ø400 mm aperture. The experimental results obtained using the proposed algorithm and the traditional algorithm for different integration time are compared. The statistical data shows that the average non-uniformity for the proposed algorithm decreased from 0.77% to 0.21% at 2.5 ms and from 1.33% to 0.26% at 5.5 ms. The testing results demonstrate that the usage of suggested algorithm can improve infrared imaging quality and radiation measurement accuracy.
For efficient and accurate diagnosis of ultrasound images, appropriate time gain compensation(TGC) and dynamic range(DR) control of ultrasound echo signals are important. TGC is used for compensating the attenuation of ultrasound echo signals along the depth, and DR controls the image contrast. In recent ultrasound systems, these two factors are automatically set by a system and/or manually adjusted by an operator to obtain the desired image quality on the screen. In this paper, we propose an algorithm to find the optimized parameter values far TGC and DR automatically. In TGC optimization, we determine the degree of attenuation compensation along the depth by dividing an image into vertical strips and reliably estimating the attenuation characteristic of ultrasound signals. For DR optimization, we define a novel cost function by properly using the characteristics of ultrasound images. We obtain experimental results by applying the proposed algorithm to a real ultrasound(US) imaging system. The results verify that the proposed algorithm automatically sets values of TGC and DR in real-time such that the subjective quality of the enhanced ultrasound images may be sufficiently high for efficient and accurate diagnosis.

Our approach combines weighted least squares filtering with iCAM06 model. To show more perceptual high dynamic range images in conventional display, we decompose high dynamic range image into base layers and detail layers. The base layers are obtained by using weighted least squares filter. Then, we adopt chromatic adaption function and non-linear compression function to deal with base layers. Only the base layers reduce contrast, and preserving detail. The image quality assessment shows that our tone mapped image is more similar to original high dynamic range image. Moreover, the subjective result shows our algorithm produces more reliable and pleasing image.
This paper presents a method of HDR imaging with adaptive saturation compensation for brightness change. The saturation of HDR images were lighten on dark region because conventional HDR methods have focused on brightness change. Therefore, the proposed HDR method compensates saturation adaptively according to brightness change. For experiments of several images, the proposed algorithm is superior to conventional HDR methods qualitatively and quantitatively in terms of color saturation.
