  • This paper presents a new ZCS-PWM high frequency inverter. Zero current switching operation is achieved in the whole load range by using a simple auxiliary reverse blocking switch in parallel with series resonant capacitor. Dual duty cycle control scheme is used to provide a wide range of high frequency AC output power regulation that is important in many high frequency inverter applications. It found that a complete soft switching operation can be achieved even for low power setting ranges by introducing high-frequency dual duty cycle control scheme. The proposed high frequency inverter is more suitable for consumer induction heating(IH) applications. The operation and control principle of the proposed high frequency inverter are described and verified through simulated results.

  • The high frequency pulsed power system is widely available for use in high frequency generator applications. We designed and fabricated our own high frequency pulsed power system to obtain very sort pulse width and high peak value and investigated microbe removal characteristics using it. This paper introduces a simple high voltage high frequency pulsed power system for removing various bacteria caused by dirty water. This system include power supply circuit, switching MOSFET, and flyback converter. We can also control the switching using a PIC one chip microprocessor. As a result, we can obtain good removing characteristics of various bacteria by adjusting the charging voltage, the pulse repetition rate and the electrical field inducing time.

  • In this paper describes a design of Adaptive high gain observer. The gain of the observer is properly set up using the fuzzy control and adaptive high gain observer that have a superior transient characteristic and is easy to implement compared the existing method is designed. In order to verify the performance of the Adaptive high gain observer which is proposed in this paper, it is compared estimate performance of High-gain Observer and Adaptive High Gain Observer with the computer simulation. Effectiveness of the proposed high gain observer is proved from the simulation to compare the case with a speed sensor to the case with Adaptive high gain observer in the speed control of DC servo motor.

  • The present study relates to a method of manufacturing 100$\mu\textrm{m}$ thick cover layer for the high density digital versatile disc system (HD-DVD), which uses a high numerical aperture of 0.85 at 405 nm wavelength. Spin coating technique was investigated as means for manufacturing the cover layer within sufficient margins of thickness variation and with good mechanical properties including small radial and tangential tilts. The influence of processing variables such as spinning speed, spinning time, and dispensing position was investigated. The effect of viscosity of UV-curable resin was also investigated.

  • High-speed machining is one of the most effective technologies to improve productivity Because of the high speed and high feed rate, high-speed machining can give great advantages for the machining of dies and molds. This paper describes on the analysis and evaluation of cutting force in high-speed machining. Cutter rotation directions, slope directions, spindle revolution and depth of cut are control factors for cutting force. The effect of the control factors on cutting force is investigated for the high speed machining of STD11.

  • The demand of high speed machining is increasing due to the high speed cutting and grinding provides high efficiency of process, short process time, improved metal removal capacity and better surface finish. Active magnetic bearings allow much high surface speed than conventional ball bearings and therefore greatly suitable for high speed cutting or grinding. This paper describes a design process of an active magnetic bearing system for a high speed grinding spindle with power 5.5kW and maximum speed 60,000rpm. Magnetic actuators are designed by the magnetic circuit theory considering static load condition, and examined with FEM analysis. Dynamic characteristics are also considered, such as bandwidth, stiffness, natural frequency and static deflection. System characteristics are simulated with a rigid rotor model.

  • This study investigated possible ways to replace conventional stirrups used on high-strength concrete members with improved reinforcing materials. Headed bar and high-strength steel were chosen to substitute for conventional stirrups, and an experimental comparison between the shear behavior of high-strength concrete large beams reinforced with conventional stirrups and the chosen stirrup substitutes was made. Test results indicated that the headed bar and the high-strength steel led to a significant reserve of shear strength and a good redistribution of shear between stirrups after shear cracking. This is due to the headed bar providing excellent end anchorage and the high-strength steel successfully resisting higher and sudden shear transmission from the concrete to the shear reinforcement. Experimental results presented in this paper were also compared with various prediction models for shear strength of concrete members.

  • High-speed rail study needs to focus on passenger movements as a key element of the planning process. A particular challenge is obtaining comprehensive information on high-speed rail passenger movements. A national preference stated survey was conducted from October to November of 2011 to meet this challenge through direct personal interviews of travelers between Seoul and Busan (the so called Kyung-Bu corridor). Over 40 interviewers were hired and trained to conduct personal interviews at several stations along locations within Kyung-Bu Seoul and Busan corridor. A total of 4,550 travelers were interviewed, furnishing an extensive database on high-speed rail passenger movements. The methodology and procedure employed to collect the national data for Korean high-speed train KTX are described. Specific issues investigated include survey design, questionnaire and strategy. Lessons learned from the high-speed rail passenger movement study provide insights for other countries contemplating similar high-speed rail studies.

  • High-speed train under development is a type of EMU(electric multiple units). Since power sources like motors and gears are distributed in the high-speed EMU, the high-speed EMU generates vibration and sound more than the articulated high-speed train. Vibration of vehicle, vibration between rails and wheels, hunting of bogie and snake motion reduce ride comfort. In this paper, to decrease the vibration of the articulated high-speed train, improvements were presented using an analytical model and a simulation model. The simulation model of the high-speed EMU was designed on the basis of the korean high-speed train and the design parameters for ride comfort were showed and the dynamic characteristics of the vehicle was understood. To consider the characteristics of the vehicle suspension, the analytical model was designed and the simulation model was verified with it.
