The Association between Unemployment and Suicidal Ideation by Gender - Using the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2009 - (성별 실업과 자살생각의 관련성 - 국민건강영양조사 2009년 자료를 중심으로 -)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examined the association between unemployment and suicidal ideation in Korea. Methods: We analyzed data from the Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys (KNHANES) IV, conducted in 2009. Statistical analysis methods used in this study were $x^2$-test, Hierarchial logistic regression analysis and other basic statistics using SPSS version 19.0. Results: The suicidal ideation of unemployment workers was 24.7% in male and 35.9% in female. After adjusting for sociodemographic characteristics and health-related characteristics, the risk for suicidal ideation of unemployment workers was significantly higher than employment workers. In men, the OR for suicidal ideation of the employed workers compared with the employed was 2.13, and in women, the OR was 1.31. Conclusions: The findings suggest the impact of unemployment status on suicidal ideation and the need for further prospective investigation that lead to interventions should be required to introduce of suicide prevention program for unemployment worker.

The Effect of Tik Tok Users' Love Types on Love Videos' Motivation and User Satisfaction (틱톡(Tik Tok) 이용자의 연애유형이 연애 동영상의 이용 동기, 이용 만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • Based on the love styles theory used in psychology, this paper classifies users(Passionate Love, Game-playing Love, Friendship Love, Practical Love, Possessive Love, Altruistic Love) and investigates satisfaction with the motivation for using TikTok love videos(Entertainment, Social Relationship, Love skills-learning, Self-verification, Problem-solving) according to the theory of use and satisfaction. First, 414 users were selected to conduct TikTok surveys to collect data. Then, through the analysis of the research results, among the six love types, game-playing type and possessive type have a positive (+) impact on entertainment motivation and love skill-learning motivation. Game-playing type also have a positive (+) impact on social relationship motivation and self-verification motivation. In addition, altruistic type and possessive type are also factors to strengthen the motivation of self-verification. The altruistic type, possessive type and practical type will improve the problem-solving motivation. Finally, through hierarchial multiple regression analysis, it is confirmed that game-playing love type, entertainment motivation, love skill-learning motivation and self-verification motivation can improve user satisfaction. The above results enrich the research of user classification as well as providing inspiration for improving the quality and communication efficiency of TikTok's video and enhancing user experience.

Factors associated with New Graduate Nurses' Reality Shock (신규간호사의 현실충격과 영향요인)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify factors that affect reality shock in new nurses. Methods: Participants were 216 newly graduated nurses with less than 1 year experience in 5 university and 10 general hospitals in Busan, Ulsan and Gyeongnam, A self-report questionnaire was completed by the nurses between November 18 and December 25, 2013. Data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA and hierarchial multiple regression analysis with the SPSS/WIN 21.0 Program. Results: Average scores for work environment and environmental reality shock were $2.63{\pm}0.33$ and $2.66{\pm}0.43$ points respectively. Regression analysis showed that with the nurses' demographic and work characteristics controlled, work environment explained 4.2% of the reality shock. Factors significantly affecting reality shock included nurses' changing residence because of job (${\beta}$=.21, p=.001), whether they were able to work on the unit of their choice (${\beta}$=-.13, p=.031) and whether they had a choice in days off (${\beta}$=-.14, p=.038). Conclusion: When these factors are considered, reduction in nurses' reality shock requires improvement in work environment, placing new nurses in a department of their choice and allowing them a choice in off-duty days. These measures would also help achieve organizational goals and develop the new nurses as professional nurses.

The Effect of Functional Dependency and Stress on Health-related Quality of Life in Patients under Rehabilitation after Stroke (뇌졸중 재활 환자의 기능적 의존도와 스트레스가 건강 관련 삶의 질에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify factors contributing to health-related quality of life in patients under rehabilitation after stroke. Methods: A descriptive correlational study design was used. Ninety-two stroke patients under rehabilitation from a university hospital were included. Data were collected on March and April, 2013 using structured questionnaires. Hierarchial multiple regression analysis was used to identify factors influencing health-related quality of life. Results: There were significant differences in health-related quality of life according to type of impairment. The health-related quality of life had significant correlations with age, functional dependency, and stress. Factors influencing health-related quality of life for stroke patients under rehabilitation were stress, functional dependency, type of impairment, and age, which explained about 34.5% of total variance. Conclusion: To promote health-related quality of life for stroke patients under rehabilitation, stress and functional dependency should be managed in this population, especially for older adults. Also these results can be utilized in the development of program for helping rehabilitation of stroke patients. The effect of depression and anxiety on health-related quality of life should also be addressed in future research.

Effects of Nursing Practice Environment, Compassion Fatigue and Compassion Satisfaction on Burnout in Clinical Nurses (임상간호사의 간호근무환경, 공감피로 및 공감만족이 소진에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The purposes of this study was to identify the effects of nursing practice environment, compassion fatigue and compassion satisfaction on burnout in clinical nurses. Methods: Participants selected for the final analysis were 208 nurses working in 2 general hospitals in Busan and Masan. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation and Hierarchial Multiple Regression with SPSS/WIN 18.0. Results: Compassion fatigue had a significant positive effect on burnout, while Compassion satisfaction had a negative effect on burnout, but Nursing practice environment had no effect on burnout. The explained variance for burnout was 61% and compassion satisfaction was the most significant factor in burnout of nurses. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that to reduce burnout in clinical nurses it is necessary to develop programs to increase nurses' compassion satisfaction and decrease compassion fatigue.

The Relationships among Perceived Parental Bonding, Illness Perception, and Anxiety in Adult Patients with Congenital Heart Diseases (성인 선천성 심장질환자들이 지각한 부모 양육태도, 질병인식과 불안간의 관계)

  • Purpose: The purposes of this study were to identify the relationships among perceived parental bonding, illness perception, and anxiety and to determine the influences of perceived parental bonding and illness perception on anxiety in adult patients with congenital heart diseases. Methods: In this study a descriptive correlational design with survey method was utilized. The participants were 143 adult patients with congenital heart disease being cared for in the cardiology out-patient clinic of A medical center. Data were collected using the Parental Bonding Instrument, Illness Perception Questionnaire Revised Scale, and Cardiac Anxiety Questionnaire Scale. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis, and hierarchial regression analyses. Results: There showed significant positive relationships of anxiety with maternal overprotection, consequences, and personal control respectively. Among predictors, maternal overprotection (${\beta}=.45$), consequence (${\beta}=.26$), and personal control (${\beta}=-.03$) had statistically significant influence on anxiety. Conclusion: Nursing interventions to decrease maternal overprotection and negative consequence, and to enhance personal control are essential to decrease the anxiety of adult patients with congenital heart diseases.

Effect of Career Development and Career Plateau on Career Satisfaction of Nurses (경력개발과 경력정체가 간호사의 경력만족에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: In this study, factors affecting career satisfaction of nurses were explored in the career development and career plateau. Methods: Participants were 143 nurses drawn from a general hospital in Busan. independent t-test, one way ANOVA and Hierarchial multiple regression with SPSS/WIN 18.0 program were used for data analysis. Results: The mean score of career satisfaction was 2.85/5, Career development was 2.99/5, and career plateau obtained 2.53/5. The extent of the career satisfaction differ according to age(F=3.60, p=.030), marital status(t=2.42, p=.017), current position(F=6.61, p=.002), total clinical career(F=3.36, p=.023), and work unit(t=0.95, p=.029). The influencing factors in career satisfaction of clinical nurses were organizational career management, career plateau and individual career planning. $R^2=.415$. Organizational career management was the highest significant predictor of career satisfaction(${\beta}=.325$). Conclusion: Factors influencing career satisfaction were organizational career management, career plateau and individual career planning. Thus a program for career development of organization is needed.

Effects of the Knowledge, Health Belief, and Self-Efficacy about Osteoporosis on Calcium Intake Behavior for Postmenopausal Osteoporosis Patients (폐경기 골다공증 환자의 골다공증 지식, 건강신념, 자기효능감이 칼슘섭취행위 빈도에 미치는 영향)

  • Purposes: To identify the predictors of calcium intake behavior and examine the relationships among bone mineral density, osteoporosis knowledge, osteoporosis health belief, osteoporosis self efficacy and calcium intake behavior of postmenopausal osteoporosis patients. Methods: The subjects consisted of 94 patients. The measurement tools were osteoporosis knowledge test, osteoporosis health belief scale, osteoporosis self-efficacy and calcium intake frequency questionnaire. The data were analyzed using the SPSS WIN 11.0 program. Results: The bone mineral density of the lumbar were $0.75g/cm^2$, T-score -2.67 and the femur neck were $0.67g/cm^2$, T-score -2.30. There was statistically a significant correlation between calcium intake behavior and health motivation (r=0.449, p=0.000) among the osteoporosis health belief. In hierarchial multiple regression analysis, current spouse(12.8%) and health motivation(19.9%) of the osteoporosis health belief explained the 32.7% of variance in calcium intake behavior. Conclusion: Nursing intervention should be developed for increasing the calcium intake behavior through promoting health motivation for the postmenopausal osteoporosis women having no spouse currently.

Mediation and Moderation Effects of Organizational Citizenship Behavior between Nursing Performance and Turnover Intention (간호업무수행과 이직의도 간의 관계에서 조직시민행동의 조절 및 매개효과 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating and moderating effects of organizational citizenship behavior on the relationship between nursing performance and turnover intention. Data were collected from 439 nurses in 3 tertiary hospitals and 2 secondary hospitals and analyzed by PASW 18.0 and AMOS 18.0. The findings were as follows. The correlation coefficients of the study variables were all statistically significant. The organizational citizenship behavior showed mediating effects between the nursing performance and turnover intention. On the other hand, organizational citizenship behavior did not have moderating effects. Various strategies that are purposed to enhancing organizational citizenship behavior among nurses should be developed to reduce turnover intention of nurse who have high nursing performance.

A Study of the Impact of Organizational Cultures on the Organizational Effectiveness (조직문화가 조직유효성에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 : 의료사회복지사의 인식을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to the impact of organizational culture on the organizational effectiveness in hospitals were empirically analysed. Data were collected by 151 social workers including general hospitals with one social worker at least and single-department hospital with two social workers or more, were identified nationwide through the registry of Korean Association of Medical Social Workers and Korean Association of Hospitals. The results of this study were summarized as follows; First, most social workers report that characteristic of culture in their hospitals are group culture the first, hierarchial culture the second, rational culture the third, and developmental culture finally in order of social worker's recognition. Second, according to the types of organizational culture, there were significantly different levels of organizational effectiveness. Social worker's perceived group cultures in hospital showed higher job satisfaction, organizational commitment than other culture patterns. And also, social worker's perceived developmental cultures in hospital showed higher organizational commitment quality of social service than other culture patterns. Third, multiple regression analysis was conducted to find the relationship of organizational culture and organizational effectiveness. As a result, developmental culture showed a strong relationship with job satisfaction, organizational commitment and quality of social services Finally, as for the cultural affects on the organizational effectiveness depended on intensive attention to developmental culture in hospital Consolidating the attribute of developmental culture in hospital is also proposed to improve the organizational cultures.
