한국 육상성 이완보동물(Heterotardigrada, Tardigrada)상을 조사하기 위하여 1985년 4월부터 1987년 10월까지 전국 각 지역에서 채집된 이끼와 지의류를 조사한 결과, 이 중 14개 지소에서 표본들을 열었고 동정한 결과 10종의 육상 이완보류가 확인되었다. 이들에 대한 그림과 아울러 기재 또는 특기 (remarks )를 기록하였는바 2종을 제외한 나머지 8종은 한국에서 처음으로 보고되는 종들이다.

바다가시곰벌레속 (Halechiniscus)에 속하는 해양완보류 2종 (H. Jejuensis, H. remanei)을 보고한다. 신종인 제주가시곰벌레 (H. Jejuensis)는 몸통 측돌기의 위치와 모양, 제4다리 기부에 난 유두형의 감각톤기의 모양, 그리고 머리의 전단부가 두 갈래로 갈라져 있지 않은 점에서 본 속의 다른 종들과 뚜렷이 구별된다. 지금까지 바다가시곰벌레속에 기록된 9종에 대한 종검색표를 새롭게 작성하였다.

A new marine tardigrade species of the genus Orzeliscus belonging to the family Halechiniscidae is described from the sea coasts of Korea and Japan. This new species is most characterized in having slender, pole-shaped clava with uniform breadth along its whole length. Furthermore, it evidently differs from the congeners by the combination of characters of a hemispherical protrusion on cheek region of the head, a big and bulbous lateral projection between leg III and leg IV, and an elongate papillus terminating with a minute tube on leg IV. 'Orzeliscus cf. belopus' sensu McKirdy, Schmidt and McGinty-Bayly, 1976 from the Galapagos Islands quite resembles this new species in sharing the slender, pole-shaped clava. However, these two Pacific populations are distinguished to each other by body size and shapes of the protrusion on cheek region and the lateral projection between leg III and leg IV. Scanning electron microscope photographs and a key to species of the genus Orzeliscus are also provided herein.

조간대와 수심 20m 미만의 조하대 모래틈에서 채집한 해양 완보류 2신종 - Batillipes longispinosus n. sp., B. orientalis n. sp. - 을 기재한다. 이들 2신종은 미성숙 개체와 성체 모두에서 몸통 뒷부분에 돌기가 없으며 머리에 난 여러 돌기들이 길다는 점, 제 4다리위에 긴돌기를 가진다는 점에서 특징적이다. B. longispinosus n. sp.는 Batillipes 속에 기록된 21종 중에서 B. tubernatis Pollock과 가장 유사하나 4번째 다리에 긴 돌기를 가지는 점에서 다르다. 또한 B. orientalis n. sp. 는 몸 측면 돌기를 가진다는 점에서 B. roscoffensis Kristensen와 닮았으나 머리의 모양과 4번째 다리에 긴 돌기를 가지는 점에서 뚜렷하게 구별된다.

1995년 2월부터 1998년 11월까지 한국 해안의 조간대와 조하대의 모래틈이나 부식질틈에서 채집된 Batillipes 속 해양완보류를 조사한 결과, 29개 지점에서 출현한 8종을 동정.분류하였다. 이 가운데 1종(B. rotundiculus n. sp.)은 신종, 5종(B. pennaki Marcus, B. similis Schulz, B. tridentatus Pollock, B. crassipes Tchesunov and Mokievsky, B. philippinensis Chang and Rho)은 한국 미기록종이었다. 신종을 기재하였고, 5종의 한국 미기록종에 대하여는 삽화와 함께 간략히 고찰하였으며, 한국산 Batillipes 속에 대한 종검색표를 작성하였다.

필리핀 만다나오의 산호 모래틈에서 채집된 Anisonyches속 (Echiniscoididae과)에 속하는 해양완보류 2종, A. deliquus n. sp.와 A. diakidius Pollock을 보고한다. A. deliquus n. sp.는 Anisonyches속에 기록된 2종 중에서 발톱의 모양과 배열, 그리고 곤봉형 두부감각돌기와 제 4다리 위의 감각돌기가 없다는 점에서 A. mauritianus와 유사하나 제 1-3다리에 감각강모를 가지지 않은 점에서 뚜렷하게 구별된다. 저자들은 신종의 기재와 함께 Anisonyches속의 가장 중요한 형질은 발톱의 모양과 배열에 대하여 고찰하였다.
