Objectives and methods : To study on the anti-cancer, anti-metastasis and immune response improvement effects of Herbal-acupuncture with Sinomenii acuti Lignum infusion solution(SAL-HAS), we injected Sinomenii acuti Lignum infusion solution into Joksamni$(ST_{36})$ of C57BL/6 mouse which is corresponding to human Joksamni(ST36). We observed its effect on the number of $CD25^+/CD4^+,\;CD8^+/CD3e^+,\;CD69^+/B220^+,\;NK1.1^+/CD3e^+$ cells in mouse PBMCs(peripheral blood mononuclear cells), the number of the pulmonary colony, and the effect on MST(mean survival time) and ILS(increase in MST over control) of C57BL/6 mice implanted intravenously with B16-F10 melanoma. Results and Conclusions : 1. The spleen cells proliferation of the sample groups treated with SAL-HAS extract has increased significantly compared with that of the control group. 2. The percentage of the $CD25^+/CD4^+,\;CD8^+/CD3e^+,\;CD69^+/B220^+,\;NK1.1^+/CD3e^+$ cells in C57BL/6 mouse PBMCs of the sample groups treated with SAL-HAS has increased compared with that of the control group. 3. The pulmonary colony number of the sample groups SAL-HAS has decreased significantly compared with that of the control group. 4. MST and ILS of the sample groups SAL-HAS have increased significantly compared with those of the control group.

Objectives and methods : The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of AHCR(ASARI HERBA CUM RADICE) herbal acupuncture at St36 on ovalbumin-induced asthma in mice. C57BL/6 mice were sensitized and challenged with OVA(ovalbumin) for 12 weeks(once a week). Two experimental groups were treated with different concentrations(1%, 0.1%) of AHCR-HAS at Chok-samni (St36) for the later 8 weeks (3times/week). Results 1. Lung weight of the mice group treated with AHCR-HA decreased significantly compared with that of control group. 2. Total Leukocytes in BALF of the mice group treated wtih AHCR-HA decreased significantly compared with those of control group. 3. The number of Eosinophils in BALF of the mice group treated wtih AHCR-HA decreased significantly compared with that of control group. 4. The number of $Gr-1^+/CD11b^+,\;CCR3^+,\;CD4^+,\;CD3e^+/CD69^+,\;IgE^+/B220^+$ cells in the lungs of the mice group treated with AHCR-HA decreased significantly compared with that of control group. 5. The number of $CD8^+$ cells in the lungs of the mice group treated with AHCR-HA didn't show significant difference compared with that of control group. 6. The concentration of IgE, IL-13, IL-4 in serum of the mice group treated with AHCR-HA decreased significantly compared with that of control group. Conclusion We conclude that AHCR-HA is effective on OVA-induced asthma in C57BL/6 mouse.

Objectives: This study was undertaken to determine if Plantaginis Semen(PS) has a protective effect against $CCI_4$ induced hepatoxicity in Rats. Methods: The experimental groups were divided into Normal group (untreated Group), Control group $(group\;treated\;with\;CCI_4)$, Sample 1 (group treated with 0.1 ml Plantaginis Semen herbal acupuncture in both sides of $G\bar{a}nsh\bar{u}\;(BL_{18})$ after $CCI_4$ treating) and Sample 2 (group treated with feeding of 1 cc Plantaginis Semen extraction after $CCI_4$ treating). Rats were administered orally $CCI_4\;(0.1\;ml/kg)$ for 4 days. In experiments for PS effect, rats of Sample 1 group received 0.lml herbal acupuncture of PS extraction in both sides of corresponding $G\bar{a}nsh\bar{u}\;(BL_{18})$ of human body for 3 days after treated $CCI_4$. Rats of Sample 2 group feeded PS extraction (1cc) for 3 days after treated $CCI_4$. Variation of weight and biochemical assays (AST, ALT, LDH, ALP, total cholesterol, triglyceride, total protein, albumin) were performed. Results: In Control group, $CCI_4$ increased serum AST, ALT, LDH, ALP, total protein, albumin and decreased weight, total cholesterol, triglyceride. Sample 1 and Sample 2 significantly decreased serum AST, ALT, LDH, ALP, total protein, albumin as compared with Control group. Conclusion: These results indicate that PS could be used in prevention and treatment of hepatoxicity. However, precise mechanisms of PS protection remain to be determined.

Objective : This study was undertaken to determine if Plantaginis Semen herbal acupuncture(PSA) has a protective effect on glycerol-induced acute renal failure in rats. Methods : Rats were dehydrated for 24hr and then injected with 4 ml/kg of 50% glycerol in each hindlimb muscle. In experiments for PSA effect, rats were received 0.1 ml of PSA extraction in both sides of corresponding $Sh\grave{e}nsh\bar{u}(BL_{23})$ of human body for 3 days after injection of glycerol. The experimental group were divided into the normal group, the control group, the sample 1,2,3 group. Results : Glycerol injection decreased glomerular filtration rate and increased urine volume, serum creatinine, BUN level and fractional excretion of $Na^+,\;K^+\;and\;Cl^-$. These results show that glycerol injection bring about acute renal failure. PSA significantly increased glomerular filtration rate and significantly decreased serum creatinine, BUN level and fractional excretion of $Na^+,\;and\;Cl^-$ as compared with control group. Conclusion : These results suggest that PSA can be used in prevention and treatment for acute renal failure. However, the precise mechanisms of PSA protection remain to be determined.

Objectives : To see if Clinical study on 1 Case of patient with the foot drop diagnosed as peripheral neuropathy suggest further treatment plan for more effective cure. Methods : To heal foot drop diagnosed as peripheral neuropathy using herbal medicine wooseul-tangkami and electronic acupuncture on the Yangmyung channel(陽明經) selected in The Yellow Emperor's of internal Medicine and on Panggwang channel(膀胱經) considered as painful lesion. Results : we experienced a case of foot drop diagnosed as the peripheral neuropathy the patient was treated by wooseul-tangkami, and electric acupuncture on Yangmyung channel and also Panggwang channel and had a significant improvement in gait ability and the range of motion. Conclusion : Herbal medicine wooseul-tangkami, and electric acupuncture on Yangmyung channel and also Panggwang channel was prescribed in the perpective of oriental medicine when treating foot drop, Wooseul-tangkami is used to remove the wetness-heat evil and had shown significant improvement in gait ability and the range of motion.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to report the patient with peripheral neuropathy, who improved by Oriental medical treatment. Methods : The patient was managed by acupuncture, moxibustion, physical treatment and herbal medicine. We checked digital infrared thermographic imaging(D.I.T.I.), electromyography(E.M.G.), nerve conduction velocity(N.C.V.), deep tendon reflex(D.T.R.), sensory recover area and range of motion(R.O.M.) of knee & ankle. Results : After 6 week treatment, clinical sign(the movement and sense of leg) of improvement was appeared. Also E.M.G., N.C.V., D.T.R. and D.I.T.I. was recovered to nearly normal range. Conclusion : The results suggest that combination of acupunture, moxibustion and herbal medicine is good method for treatment of peripheral neuropathy. But further studies may be required to concretely prove the effectiveness of this methods for treating peripheral neuropathy.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to analyze case reports on and to study Korean medicine treatments of facial palsy. Methods: Studies published after 2000 were selected by searching for the terms "facial palsy" and "Guanwasa" in four databases and case reports using Korean medicine moderating variables were extracted by two individual researchers. Results: The House Brackmann (H-B) Scale (23 times, 65.7%), and Yanagihara Grading Scale (Y-system) (22 times, 62.8%) were used to assess facial palsy. All case reports used acupuncture, while 19 case reports (51.3%) used electro-acupuncture, and 8 case reports (21.6%) used pharmacopuncture. Main meridian points used were ST6, ST4, GB14, TE23, LI20, BL2. Thirty-two case reports used herbal medicine (86.4%) and both Ligigeopoong-san, Bojunglkgi-tang were used frequently. Conclusion: To treat facial palsy, acupuncture was mainly used in conjunction with electro-acupuncture and pharmacopuncture. Most case reports also used herbal medicine.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to present the standard for practical application of ginger herbal pharmacopuncture Material and Methods : We refer to ancient literatures and the recent papers for ginger. Conclusions : The following results have been obtained 1. The effect of ginger(Zingiber officinale Roscoe) is to "release exterior", "balance nutrient & defensive qi", "resolve phlegm", "arrest coughing", "warm the lungs". So ginger herbal pharmacopuncture can be applied to treating fever, chilling sign, headchae, snuffle and gasping cough due to cold affection and treating the symptoms like sputum and asthma that be revealed by pulmonary disease. 2. The effect of ginger is to "warm spleen and stomach", "arrest vomiting" "promote normal flow of water". So ginger herbal pharmacopuncture can be applied to treating nausea, vomiting, abdominal distension and diarrhea due to phlegm & dampness and treating edema. 3. The effect of ginger is to eliminate blood stasis. So ginger herbal pharmacopuncture can be applied to treating contusion, blood stasis, sprain and gynecologic disease. 4. Ginger can treat myalgia and pain due to wind-damp and have anti-inflammatory effect in pharmacology. So ginger herbal pharmacopuncture can be applied to treating disease of joint, ligament and muscle. 5. Ginger can resolve phlegm and resuscitate. So ginger herbal pharmacopuncture can be applied to treating unconsciousness. But, treating incipient cardiovascular accident, it needs to call your special attention to the danger of blood pressure increase. 6. In pharmacology, ginger is effective for antitumor, antioxidant effects and activating immunocyte. So ginger herbal pharmacopuncture can be applied to treating broadly varieties of tumor and allergic disease.

Objectives : The aim of this study is to report the case improved through Korean Medicine Including Herbal Medicine with Astragali radix, Rehmannia glutinosa as main ingredients, Acupuncture and External Preparation on the treatment of contact dermatitis. Methods : A patient with contact dermatitis was diagnosed through Korean Medicine and treated with Herbal Medicine with Astragali radix, Rehmannia glutinosa as main ingredients, Acupuncture and External preparation. The Degree of itching was assessed with Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and the severity of wheals and redness on lesion site was assessed through photography. Results : VAS decreased from 9 to 1 and wheals and redness on lesion site was disappeared. Conclusions : According to the result, These findings suggest that Korean Medicine can be effective for the treatment of contact dermatitis.

In oriental medicine bladder cancer had been called '溺血(Hematuria)', 血淋(Blood Stranguria)', 濕熱河注(Downward Flow of Damp-heat)' and so on. The symptoms are Hematuria, Oliguria, Lower abdomen pain, febrile sensation and Anemia etc. These are similar to the symptoms of bladder cancer by modem medicine. I have experienced a bladder cancer patient who was diagnosed as stage Ⅲ. She has been treated bladder cancer with Immunity herbal acupuncture and Her clinical and objective symptoms have been better. Therefore I report this results.
