Objectives This study is designed to identify the effectiveness of herbal medicine for osteoporosis in rheumatoid arthritis. Methods We will investigate 10 databases, 4 Korean databases (KoreaMed, KMBASE, Koreanstudies Information Service System [KISS], ScienceOn) and 6 of abroad (PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure [CNKI], WanFang, Citation Information by NII [CiNii]) without publication date, language limitation for clinical study of herbal medicine for osteoporosis in rheumatoid arthritis. Type, dose, duration, frequency of herb medicine will be analyzed. Results Randomized controlled trials about herbal medicine or herb extract for osteoporosis in rheumatoid arthritis should be included in the study. Cochrane's risk of bias tools will be used to assess quality of the study. Mean differences or standardized mean differences of 95% confidence intervals will calculated and data synthesis will be conducted using Review Manager (RevMan, ver.5.3; The Nordic Cochrane Centre, The Cochrane Collaboration, Copenhagen, Denmark). Conclusions It is expected to provide basic data for the active use of herb medicine by systematically synthesizing and analyzing the actual situation, effectiveness, and safety of herb medicine for osteoporosis in rheumatoid arthritis.

Perilla frutescens is known as the herb helps digestion, tonifies stomachache, and decreases fever in oriental medicine. And it is reported it possess the anti-pyretic effect, anti-inflammatory effect, anti-allergy effect, anti-tumor effect etc. The components isolated from this herb consist of perilla aldehyde, d-limonene, ${\alpha}-pinene$, cyanin, linoleic acid, palmitic acid, menthol, rosmarinic acid and luteolin etc. But there is no effective tools to determine the quality of this herb. In this study, we aimed to analyze the changes of liquid chromatogram pattern, one of major standardization method, to determine the quality of Perilla frutescens.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to report to treat the patient who had numbness, paresthesia, pain after hip fracture in the category of Bi. Methods : The patient was treated by acupunture, moxibustion and herb medication. Conclusion : Pain, numbness, paresthesia belongs to Bi in the oriental medicine and the case that complains pain especially is Tong Bi. We experienced that improvement of the circulation the blood and gi, adding energy by acupuncture, moxibustion and herb medication have the effect treating Bi.

In the treatment of Nasal Polyps. which are produced with allergic rhinitis, chronic paranasal sinusitis at clinic. Herb-med., acupuncture and some medicine for external application have been used. The symptoms, however, has taken a turn for the better in temporary, the nasal polyps was not removed in completely. So the origin treatment was impossible by the use of herb-med.. acupuncture and medicine. Although a surgical operation (excision) of western-medicine is effective for a specified period of time (about 6 months), the nasal polyps tend to recur. Because of that the second and third operation might be needed, so we cannot consider the operation as the treatment of nasal polyps. The study was observed to investigate the nasal polyps treatment, and to search practical attempt for the clinic application through a literature study on Bisikyuk and Bithch which are similar with nasal polyps. As results, the practical application of external treatment for the nasal polyps treatment in clinic might be more necessary, and internal use of the Herb-med. with the external treatment might be treated as supplementary treatment.

We study the health tools for silver longevity on the theory of the material basis & vital and mental activities. The results are as follows. The navel herb-moxibustion tool strengthen material basis in the low elixir-field. The method is the fumigation of navel by the aroma of herb. The detailed micro-wave tool strengthen Ki(vital energy) in the middle elixir-field by the multi-method of the recognition-stimulation, micro-vibration, micro-current. The mystical pillow being composed of thirty two herbs strengthen mental activity in the upper elixir-field. The three methods are the synthetic, practical, familiar health tools for silver longevity.

Purpose: This study was to report the effect and safety of oriental medical treament in the pregnant woman diagnosed to herniated of nucleus pulposus(HNP) at L-spine. Methods: The patient was diagnosed with HNP at L-spine during Pregnancy. She was treated by herb medicine, acupuncture and moxibustion. Their symptoms was disappeared. Results: After treatment, most symptoms decreased, VAS score changed 10 to 2, ODI changed 41 to 20. Conclusions: The oriental medical treament(herb medicine, acupuncture and moxibustion) relieves HNP at L-spine during Pregnancy.

1. Purpose This paper was written in order to understand the concept of ${\ulcorner}$DongMuYooGo YakSungGa${\lrcorner}$ (東武遣稿 藥性歌) which was descending as the material of Sasang pharmacology. So we are planning to make use of the fundamental material of the study on the Sasang Medications and Prescriptions. 2. Methods Through comparing each clause of ${\ulcorner}$DongMuYooGo YakSungGa${\lrcorner}$ on all the sasang -records, we understood that concept. 3 Result 1) ${\ulcorner}$DongMuYooGo YakSungGa${\lrcorner}$ of a literary work of DongMu(東武) which contain special elucidative-method of herb-nature has 18 type of YakSungGa which explain each 27 herbs for the Taeeumin, Soyangin and Soeumin. The period of authoship is supposed to the time just before ${\ulcorner}$DongyiSuseBowon Gabobon${\lrcorner}$ (東醫壽世保元 甲午本)(1894, DongMu 58 years old) or middle of fifties(53-57 years old). 2) YakSungGa of ${\ulcorner}$DongMuYooGo${\lrcorner}$ which is published by the BoGunsung(保健省) of North Korea is supposed to close to original type. The main meaning of that is the herb-nature which works on the weakst point of each Sasangin. And then the herbs were classfied by the diseases and symptoms possessing Bomyungjiju(保命之主), the herb's efficacy is explained at the each constitution. 3) The meaning of ${\ulcorner}$DongMuYooGo YakSungGa${\lrcorner}$ is exposure of the opinion of DongMu's early stage that proposed herb-nature which is applied to the principle of Jang(臟) of Sasangin, reason and purpose to enact newly created prescriptios by the constitutional diseases and symptoms, and the compositional principle of newly created prescription. 4) The selection of herbs or cogution of herb-nature of DongMu's pharmacological opinion of his early stage was changed by accumulating clinical experience. So all the newly created prescriptios of ${\ulcorner}$DongyiSuseBowon${\lrcorner}$ could not be explained by only the herb and the herd-nature on ${\ulcorner}$DongMuYooGo YakSungGa${\lrcorner}$. Therefore the purpose of DongMu's YaksungGa is not explaining the symptoms in charge of each herb or classifying the herb by constitution, but offering the principle of composition of prescription of Sasang, from the necessary herb which possess and expand Bomyungjiju to nature of herb which is applied to the constitution for treating all the diseases and sypmtoms by the heavy or light and slow or speedy.

This case was designed to evaluate the improving effect of hepatitis on drug metabolism. Gleditsiae Spina(?甬刺) was included Taeumin' herb. but it maybe induced hepatitis on drug metabolism, if Taeumin take this herb long time. We use Taeyeumin Chungsimyeunjatang to the hepatitis on drug metabolism, and we improved it. so we report it.

This study was done in order to investigate Oriental Medicine's meaning on stress, the stress is due to animal experiments.Methods:This research was done by animal experiments's results based on 41 animal experiment treatises carried out by 24 prescriptions about stress control. Each experiments were compared with same conditions, minimizing the experiments differences. The results were analyzed by p-value and Increas e·Decrease percentage of experiments result's numerical value. Results:1. Inquire into frequency in use of each stress stimulus and measuring items, the restriction stimulus stress and measuring the content of catecholamines are numerous.2. Significance of stress stimuluses based on experments's results is good by restriction stimulus.3. Oriental Medicine's meaning for stress is pathological phenomenon of Seven Emotion(七情). Stagnant the Energy(氣鬱), the Fire(火), Dam(痰), Lack of the general Blood thing(血虛), and reaction of an individual body.4. Inguire into the effects of frequency in use of experiments's Herb drugs, Herb Drugs of Tonifing the general Blood thing depend on stabilized Mind(補血安神), Circulated the Energy and Digest(理氣消導), Tonifing the general Blood thing(補血), Clearing the Mind(淸心), Removing the Dam(祛痰) are numerous.5. From a Sasang Medical point of view, experimental use of Herb Drugs are Soeum-in(少陰人) Herb Drugs are numerous.According to above results, it is considered that Herb Drugs of Tonifing the general Blood thing depend on stabilized Mind(補血安神), Circulated the Energy and Digest(理氣消導), Tonifing the general Blood thing(補血), Clearing the Mind(淸心), Removing the Dam(祛淡), and Soeum-in(少陰人) Herb Drugs are used to prevent stress and related diseases.

The leaves of Hippophae rhamnoides were extracted with methanol and then further fractioned with hexane, ethyl acetate, butanol and water in order to investigate biological activity. Two flavonol glycosides were isolated and identified from ethyl acetate soluble fraction, which showed the strongest antioxidant activity ($RC_{50}$ = 4.33 ${\mu}g/ml$). Isolated two compounds have shown strong free radical scavenging activity. Especially, quercetin 3-O-glucoside ($RC_{50}$ = 2.60 ${\mu}g/ml$) was more active than ${\alpha}$-tocopherol ($RC_{50}$ = 4.67 ${\mu}g/ml$). Total phenol and flavonoid contents were the highest to 4.17 and 1.14 mg/ml in the ethyl acetate soluble fraction. In addition, ethyl acetate soluble fraction was shown to the strongest ${\alpha}$-glucosidase inhibitory activity ($IC_{50}$ = 137.88 ${\mu}g/ml$) among the fractions. The results suggest that leaves of H. rhamnoides could be a potential source of natural antioxidant.
