Weight reducing methods were surveyed by questionnares in March through May, 1998 with 641 women living in Inchon to provide the information for the education of proper weight control. Methods that they have used for weight-reduction were exercise (33.1%), diet therapy(29.6%), sauna(7.3%), ingestion of special food(4.8%), administration of drugs(4.0%) and herb-medicines. The respondents considered exercise(38.4%) and diet therapy(31.5%) as the most effective methods in reducing weight and the response was different with ages at p<0.01. They have practiced the diet therapy by reducing the amount of food(27.7%), skipping one or two meals a day (20.8%), avoiding high calorie snacks(8.8%) and regulating food items in a meal(3.8%). Exercises which they have done were walking(48.0%), aerobics(2.3%), swimming(23%) and using the health instruments(6.7%). Their choices in kinds of exercises were significantly dependent upon ages, marriage and their occupation(P<0.01). Acupuncture(38.0%) was the most frequently used oriental medicine therapy and original drugs(32.2% ) and moxibustion(22.0%) were also used. The women have taken drugs was 9.5%. Among them cream-typed cosmetics(41%), weight reducing drugs(30%), diuretics(18% ), and smoking(7%) were used. Fifty respondents out of 641 had expericences to have special food therapy such as grape, apples and vinegar(42%) and enzymes(18%) for some period of time.

Purpose : This study was designed to evaluate the effects of oriental medicine therapy on a patient of metrorrhagia and metrostaxis with endometrial polyp. Methods : The clinical data was analyzed on a patient of metrorrhagia and metrostaxis with endometrial polyp whose main symptoms were dysfunctional uterine bleeding. A 27-year-old female who had been treated hormone replacement therapy for dysfunctional uterine bleeding at a obstetrics and gynecology became worse, so refused any more hormone replacement therapy and visited Dongsin university oriental hospital. The patient was admitted to the obstetrics and gynecology department of Dongsin university Oriental Medical Hospital, on Febrary 23, 2004 and remained until Apri 11, 2005. we treated the patient with a herb-medication, acupunture therapy, moxa therapy and etc. Results : After treatment, improvement was seen in dysfunctional uterine bleeding, generalized weakness. Conclusion : The study suggests that oriental medicine therapy is significantly effective in the treatment of metrorrhagia and metrostaxis with endometrial polyp.

경련성 사경한자 1례에 대하여 TWSTRS와 Tsui score를 사용하여 경련성 사경정의 심한 정도와 치료 결과를 평가하고, 한방치료를 주로하고 양방치료를 보완적으로 실시한 결과 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 키네시오 테이프를 이용해 실시한 첩대요법은 사경증의 비틀림을 교정하는데 TWSTRS와 Tsui score 상 일정부분 효과가 있었다. 2. 아시혈을 포함한 치치료와 봉독치료는 TWSTRS상 경부통증과 일상생활 장애를 감소시켰다. 3. 양방협진하에 실시한 trigger point에 대한 국소 steroid 주사요법도 일정부분 통증을 감소시킨 것으로 생각된다.

Objectives: The objective of this study is to report the effectiveness of Korean medicine therapy on Psychologic tremor patients with MCVT. Methods: Korean medicine therapy including MCVT, herb, acupuncture, and psychotherapy are applied to psychologic tremor patients. Vas and AIMS are used as assessment tools to evaluate the effects of therapy. MCVT is a traditional Korean medicine technique usually for chronic diseases. Similarly, autogenic training by J.H.Schultz and Giungoroen-therapy was conducted as psychotherapy. Results: In case 1, the patient lost all symptoms from vas10 to vas0, while in case 2, symptoms of the patient decreased from vas10 to vas3. Additionally, there was a significant decrease in the AIMS measurement score for both patients. Psychotherapy helped to reduce depression and anxiety. Conclusions: Psychologic tremor can be treated using Korean traditional medicine such as MCVT, Sosiho-tang and psychotherapy.

Atopic dermatitis is frequently encountered in the Dermatology clinic and the treatments are very various but the effects are not good enough. Especially in case of infants, taking herb med or acupuncture treatments are difficult so we would like to treat the atopic dermatitis using external therapy. We chose the oriental medicine textbooks and the oriental medicine journals that external therapy was used and divided into Yugobub(油膏法), Buchubbub(敷貼法), Sechukbub(洗滌法). The results were as follows: 1. In the frequency of medicine was Coptidis Rhizoma(黃連), Phellodendri Cortex(黃栢), Sophorae Radix(苦蔘), Cnidii Fructus(蛇床子), Allumen(枯礬) etc. 2. The effects of medicine were Chungyul(淸熱), Haedok(解毒), Zosub(燥濕), salchung(殺蟲), Gupung(祛風), Jiyang(止痒) etc.

The purpose of this study is to report the hemostatic effects of Kungkwikyoae-tang for abnormal uterine bleeding. Kungkwikyoae-tang has been known as a useful herbal medication for uterine bleeding. We treated patients who had been suffering from abnormal uterine bleeding with herb-medication, acupuncture therapy, pharmacopuncture therapy and moxa therapy. We prescribed Kungkwikyoae-tang three times a day. The improvement of symptoms were measured by checking patient bleeding volume, frequency and other physical signs. After Kungkwikyoae-tang was given, abnormal uterine bleeding volume and frequency was reduced and other physical symptoms were improved. This case study shows that Kungkwikyoae-tang has a hemostatic effects against the abnormal uterine bleeding.

Purpose: The purpose of this case study is to report the effect of oriental and western medicine combination therapy for the Asthma during the period of pregnancy. Methods: We treated the patient who had the Asthma during the period of pregnancy and visited Dongshin University oriental hospital. The patient in this case was admitted for 9days due to the Asthma on the twenty-third week period of pregnancy. In consideration of pregnancy, this patient was treated with oriental and western medicine combination treatments such as herb medicine, acupuncture, herbal acupuncture therapy, and so forth. Results: There was remarkable improvement in condition of the patient, treated by oriental and western medicine combination therapy. Conclusion: We confirmed that western medicine treatment is effective in curuing with an urgent symptoms, but there is a limit to complete recovery or prevention. On the other hand. it proves that oriental medicine treatment is proficient with continuous treatment effect, but further studies are needed.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is about oriental medicine's treatment and approach method of conversion disorder(jungkijeung) Methods: We observed the treatment effectiveness of herb-med, acupunture, physical therapy about conversion disorder(jungkijeung) Result and Conclusions: We try to present the possibility of the approach method about conversion disorder. 1. We should treat conversion disorder(jungkijeung) distinguished Gi deficiency(氣虛) between vigorous gi(氣寶) 2. The acupunture treatment of conversion disorder(jungkijeung) is efficient about all sorts symptoms and pain 3. Dyscinesia's sequela due to conversion disorder(jungkijeung) is possible to be protracted 4. It is important to prevent sick role, and for this, to use physical therapy is efficient about dyscinesia's patient due to conversion disorder(jungkijeung)

Objectives : This study was designed to evaluate the effects of oriental medical treatments on the patient with agitation accompanied constipation. Methods : One patient was admitted who was constipation, agitation, headache, chilling sign, thirst, heat, nausea, insomnia. The patient was diagnosed as constipation and agitation that was caused by heat in the heart and alimentary tract, and was treated with herb-medication, acupuncture, moxa therapy, anal therapy and aroma therapy for about 4 months. And then, we investigated and analyzed the clinical symptoms of the patient. Results : Most of all the clinical symptoms related with agitation accompanied constipation were improved gradually after oriental medical treatments. Conclusions : From the above results, it could be suggested that oriental medical treatments have good effects on agitation and constipation. And it will be necessary to extensively research and develop oriental medical treatments for this disease.
