Tension wood, a specialized tissue developed in the upper side of the leaning stem and drooping branches of angiosperm, is an attractive experimental system attractive for exploring the development and the biochemical pathways of the secondary cell wall formation, as well as the control mechanism of the carbon flux into lignin, cellulose, and hemicellulose. However, the mechanism underlying the induction and the development of the tension wood is largely unknown. Recently, several researchers suggested the possible roles of the plant growth hormones including auxin, gibberellin, and ethylene mainly based on the expression pattern of the genes in this specialized tissue. In addition, expressed sequence tag of Poplar and Eucalyptus provide global view of the genetic control underlying the tension wood formation. However, the roles of the majority of the identified genes have not yet been clearly elucidated. The present review summarized current knowledge on the biosynthesis of tension wood to provide a brief synopsis of the molecular mechanism underlying the development of the tension wood.

This study was to investigate the effects of media components on the mycelial growth of Lentinus eclodes, including C-source. N-source, Inorganic salts, and c/N ratio. Glucose and yeast extract were selected as C-source and N-source, respectively. $KH_2PO_4,\;K_2HPO_4,\;MGSO_4,\;7H_2O$ as inorganic salts were added. When glucose concentration was 30g/L and yeast extract concentration was 20g/L, indicating that C/N ratio was 1.5, the cell mass was about 9g/L.
L- arabinose residues are widely distributed in plant cell walls, where they are present in polymers such as arabinans, arabinoxylans, arabinogalactans and arabinogalactan proteins. L-arabinose suppress intestinal sucrase and decrease the adsorption of sugar in the small intestine, consequently, weight loss and fatness prevent. Now, xylose be used replacement sugar and arabinose be utilized fatness prevent of our time. Various Agricultural surplus like com fiber, contain $20\;{\sim}\;40%$ of hemicellulose. Corn fiber from Agricultural Renewable Biomass was chosen the best suitable material for arabinose production. In this work, we searched about for L-arabinose gene in compost, metagenome pool and indonesian soil. So, the B1029 TS2-8 of L-arabinase gene in compost was selected by YNB media(5% yeast nitrogen base, 5% arabinogalactan). After enzyme reaction with corn fiver, B1029 TS2-8 produced 2.15 g/L of L-arabonose.
This study was conducted to examine morphological characteristics and the content of cell wall polysaccharides of Brassica campestris var. pekinensis(baechu). First of all, the variety of scientific name and naming of parts of baechu in the literatures of kimchi showed, which will unify marks. So, we propose not so much mid-rib and leaf blade of baechu leaf as white part and green part, respectively. On the other hand, the forms of vessel elements of white part in baechu consist in ring, sclariform and reticulate thickening. The proximate compositions and contents of cell wall polysaccharides of baechu has significant differences between its cultivars. The cell wall pectin from baechu exhibited four peals with molecular weights of 2,000,000, about 100,000 and less than 10,000 by gel filteration chromatography and hemicellulose did two peaks with molecular weights of 2,000,000 and 10,000.
Arabinose is five-carbon sugar that have been used a precursor of chemical synthetic pharmaceutics and an additives for an diet foods. Its contents in the hemicellulose among varied cellulosic materials is approximately $0.2%\;{\sim}\;4.0%$. In previous papers, it was focused in the production of xylose. But this study was subjected to an effective production of arabinose. High arabinose yield and selectivty was achieved at 0.6% sulfuric-acid concentration and $100^{\circ}C$. We will present how to remove an insoluble substances and the process for arabinose separation.

It was reported that the digestion ratio of chlorella was low because it had a low metabolic rate in body. Generally, the thickness of a cell membrane of it is $200-250\;{\AA}$, the weight of it is approximatly 13% of the total weight of a dry cell. And it is composed of protein, lipid, hemicellulose and ash etc. So, in order to elevate the digestion ratio of chlorella in body, we experimented the crude treatment methods of chlorella. The results obtained in this experiment are summarized as follows : 1. The digestion ratios calculated from ordinary N- balance method were 83.05% for 10% chl. (b) plus diastase group ; 81.25% for 10% chl. (b) plus amylase group, and 79.23% for 10% chl. (b), 58.55% for 10% chl. (a). 2. Biological values from this method were 80.25% for 10% chl. (b) plus diastase group, and 60% for 10% for chlorella(a).

To select the highest yield soiling type forage, the yield performance of selected sorghum-sudangrass hybrids imported in 1992 have been evaluated at Chonnam region. The soiling type hybrids used in this experiment were TE-haygrazer, FP-5 Sudan, Sweet sioux V, and X -78050. Three different cuttings were done on July 6, August 6 and September 16 in 1992. This trial was arranged as a randomized complete block design with three replications under taken over a period 5 months from May to September in 1992. The results of this experiment were summarized as follows: The hybrids tested were not significantly different by plant height, leaf blade length, leaf blade width and stem diameter. In the first cutting, dry matter yield of FP-5 Sudan was the highest. In the second and third cutting, dry matter yield of Sweet sioux V was the highest among hybrids. The contents of crude protein, hemicellulose, relative feeding value(RFV), and amino acid were the highest by the first cutting, but NDF and ADF were shown the lowest.

Nalita wood (Trema orientalis), one of the fastest growing woods in the world, is characterized anatomical, morphological and chemical properties at annual growth ring level in order to investigate as papermaking raw material. The proportion of fibers and vessel was increased with an increase of growth ring (from pith to bark). The fiber length of Nalita was increased with increasing growth ring, and an average fiber length was about 817 um. The average basic density of Nalita was about 0.38 g/cc. The total lignin & holocellulose in Nalita were increased and ash & alcohol-benzene extract decreased from pith to bark. These values were about 23.5 - 24.4 %, 78.1 - 80.1 %, 1.04 - 0.92 % and 2.1 - 1.8 %, respectively. The xylan was the predominant sugar in the hemicellulose of Nalita.
To select the most suitable variety of forage rape for growth in the southern part of Korea, Seven introduced varieties were grown from Mar, 1999 to August 2000. Velox was shown to have the highest dry matter yield in comparison to other varieties used in this experiment. It showed relatively high content of crude protein and in virto dry matter digestibility (IVDMD) and low content of NDF, ADF, cellulose and lignin. Therefore, it was concluded that Velox was the most suitable variety with high yield and high nutrient quality for spring in the southern part of Korea. The heritabilities of all the observed characters were estimated to be high.
In this Experiment three wether male Matou goats (♂), all fitted with permanent rumen fistulae, were used to study the rumen degradabilities (incubation time 48h) of dry matter (DM), neutral detergent fibre (NDF), acid detergent fibre (ADF), acid detergent ligin (ADL), cellulose (CEL) and hemicellulose (HC) and their contents of wheat and rice straws were determined for the different morphological fractions and segments. The results showed that the variation of different fractions for wheat and rice straw is the true resources of their nutritive value variation and the cell wall contents of wheat and rice straw are also obviously different. The rumen degradabilities of different straw fibre are significantly different (p<0.01), mean while the effect of straw variety is also significant (p<0.05). The aim was to set up a foundation for studying the rumen degradation of the roughage resources.
