The importance of helping behavior in our society has been increasing and this study aimed to find the practical strategies to increase helping behaviors with minorities and general public in our communities. Participants(N=156) were randomly assigned to respond to a scenario which measured the intention to help either foreign workers or general public. Also, participants were given the scale of fairness and empathy to respond. The findings of this study demonstrated that (1) empathy and fairness had main effect of the intention to help other persons and empathy and different targets in the unfair perception had interactional effect; (2) the intention to help foreign workers was positively related to fairness and the intention to help general public was affected by empathy. The results showed that according to the perceived unfairness in helping behavior situations, the role of fairness which empathy did not explain was founded. These findings suggest that empathy and fairness in helping behavior are complementary to each other.
Blogs are a new type of media that have recently become popular on the World Wide Web and have influence throughout society. The purpose of this study is to examine social motivations influencing intention of blog usage. Based on Technology Acceptance Model and Motivation Theory, this study considered perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, reputation, reciprocity, enjoyment of helping, social identity as the determinants of influencing the intention to use of blog. The suggested model was empirically evaluated using online survey data collection from 342 users of popular blog site in Korea (NAVER Blog, Cyworld minihompy, Daum Blog, and Yahoo Blog). The results revealed that perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, reciprocity, and social identity affect directly the intention of blog usage. Furthermore, social identity has moderate effect via reciprocity and enjoyment of helping on blog usage. This study contributes to a theoretical understanding of the factors as social motivation that affects the usage of blogs. Also, the results of this study provide blog service providers useful strategic insights and service guidelines to enhance user's intention of blogs practically.
Prior research suggested that people generally show stronger intentions to help in-group members because people experience higher levels of empathy for those who are similar to themselves. The present research demonstrated that one's levels of cosmopolitanism would moderate the mediating role of empathy on the relationship between cultural similarities and helping intentions. In particular, it was examined how the mediator (empathy) affected the relation between cultural similarity and helping intention for participants with low to high levels of cosmopolitanism. Results indicated that participants with lower levels of cosmopolitanism showed stronger empathy as targets are more culturally similar to participants' own culture. Participants with higher levels of cosmopolitanism, however, reported the same levels of empathy regardless of targets' cultural similarity. The implications and limitations of the results were discussed.
This paper proposes and tests a theoretical model of the relational link between a novel form of customer-perceived fairness for a reward design (distributive peer justice climate) and C2C helping intention via community identification and online C2C interaction (friend-, neighboring customer-, audience-interaction) qualities in a collective consumption context (MMORPG). To test hypotheses, we amassed survey data within a collective consumption context (massively multiplayer online role-playing games, MMORPGs). We used structural equation modeling in analyzing the survey data. The results reveal that user-perceived distributive peer justice climate for a reward design enhances their C2C helping intention via community identification and C2C interactions in MMORPG contexts. Collective consumption-type service managers should focus on promoting the user-perceived distributive peer justice climate for their reward system to enhance users' present C2C co-creation experience (community identification, C2C interaction) and future C2C co-creation behavior (helping intention). By adopting an intra-unit level distributive justice concept (customer-perceived distributive peer justice climate) to a reward design in a collective consumption context (MMORPGs), this study informed collective consumption-type service managers of the importance of its management.
With the increasing popularity of nonprofit thrift shopping, new marketing strategies are needed to respond to accelerated competition in the secondhand market. To help guide the development of marketing strategies for nonprofit thrift stores, this study aims to identify factors impacting consumers' buying behavior for secondhand fashion items sold in nonprofit thrift stores. Specifically, this study investigated 1) the effects of secondhand fashion selection criteria (i.e., design, brand name, lower price) and personal factors (i.e., gender, household income, beliefs about environment) on the secondhand fashion consumption experience in nonprofit thrift stores and 2) the moderating effects of point of purchase (POP) messages (i.e., "50% Off Sale," "New Arrivals," "Helping Others") on the relationships between purchase intention and impulsive buying in nonprofit thrift stores. An online survey was used to collect the data, and a total of 197 usable responses were received. The results showed that 1) gender, household income, beliefs about environment, and brand name affected the secondhand fashion consumption experience and 2) the POP message "Helping Others" negatively moderated the relationship between purchase intention and impulsive buying in nonprofit thrift stores. These results can help nonprofit thrift stores' managers to develop effective marketing strategies to increase their profits, which can be used to accomplish their mission of addressing social issues.
With emergence of smart technologies(e.g., smartphones), Location-Based Services(LBS) are expected to provide more enhanced values utilizing consumers' personal information than other smart services. However, in contrast to existing smartphone applications, LBS could raised severe consumer's privacy concerns because of rapidly changing information sensitive to consumers. In this context, the purpose of this study is to explore relationships among privacy concerns reduction, trust and intention to use LBS by examining the effect of precedence factors(social presence, reputation, mobile literacy, ability of information control) of privacy concern reduction. In addition, the study investigates the role of personal innovation as a moderating effect between privacy concern reduction and intention to use LBS. The results showed that the proposed precedence factors of privacy concerns with a exception of Mobile Literacy had a positive impact on privacy concerns reduction that then positively affected trust and intention to use LBS. In addition, the relationship between trust and intention to use LBS was significantly supported. Finally, personal innovation as a moderating effect significantly influenced the relationship between privacy concern reduction and intention to use LBS. This study is expected to be a reference for a subsequent study about the spread of LBS application of smartphone. Also, the finding of this study is meaningful for helping service direction to firms providing LBS.

There are various researchers who studied the relationship between seasons and feelings. However, only a few did shed light on how these two variables affect decision-making and physical behaviors especially prosocial behavior which emphasize on the benefits of other people and/or society as a whole. Due to a lack of studies on the topic, we investigated whether the combination of seasons and message framing could be useful in eliciting intention to help on an environmental issue. A 3x2 experiment examined the interactions between seasonal mood (summer, winter, controlled) and types of message framing (gain, loss) on future helping intention (volunteer, donation, petition signing). The findings suggest that in normal circumstances where seasonal mood were not applied, gain message framing was more effective in promoting higher intention to sign a petition than loss message framing. However, when thinking of winter, loss message framing has greater ability to do so than gain message framing. Moreover, seasons and mood are found to be associated with a higher positive mood in summer and a negative mood in winter. Lastly, limitations and implications are discussed.

This study examines the impact of cryptocurrency value characteristics on cryptocurrency investment intention. Stock craze and information provided through various media, including YouTube, play an essential role in helping investors recognize the value of cryptocurrency and develop positive investment intentions. In this study, we applied the Value-Based Adoption Model (VAM) to verify the relationship between cryptocurrency value characteristics and investment intention. We surveyed 500 cryptocurrency investors to assess network externalities, awareness, compatibility, cost benefits (fees), technicality, security, perceived value, and investment intentions. SEM (Structural Equation Modeling) using AMOS 26.0 was used for data analysis. Results show that network externalities, awareness, compatibility, cost benefits (fees), security, and perceived value significantly impact investment intention. This study provides insights that help investors accurately perceive cryptocurrencies and develop strategies to increase investment intentions. It also contributes to improving investors' decision-making ability. This comprehensive approach will foster the growth of the cryptocurrency market and strengthen investor confidence.
The current study investigates the impacts of empathic concern, as a personal trait, and rational/emotional appeal on responses over the campaigns to help the disabled. Empathic concern is an emotional personality known as strongly activating altruistic motivations. The experiment proceeded at two stages that in the first stage, the personal disposition was measured and in the second stage, the condition of appeal type was presented. Thus, the whole experimental design was empathic concern(2) ${\times}$ appeal type(2) on attitudes and behavioral intention. Individuals high in empathic concern showed higher ratings, compared to people low, on attitudes and behavioral intention in the condition of rational appeal. The difference between high and low empathic concern in the condition of emotional appeal was small.

The study analyzes the factors affecting the intention and recommendation to use the mobile banking applications of 314 customers from Vietnam. The study analyzes 7 factors affecting the intention and recommendation to use the mobile banking applications of customers from Vietnam, including (i) Perceived risk; (ii) Perceived ease of use; (iii) Perceived usefulness; (iv) Attitude; (v) Perceived trust; (vi) Social image; and (vii) Innovativeness. Besides, the study also analyzes 4 variables that reflect the customer's demographics, including gender, age, education, and occupation, and 6 variables describing the behavior of customers using mobile banking applications. The study findings indicate that the following factors (i) Innovativeness; (ii) Attitude; (iii) Perceived risk; (iv) Perceived ease of use, and (v) Perceived trust have the most significant impact on customers' behavior of using mobile banking applications in emerging markets such as Vietnam in the context of prolonged pandemic and continuous lockdown in many provinces and cities. The study is also of great value to studies on behavior changes among customers using mobile banking applications after the COVID-19 pandemic in Vietnam. The study will provide additional empirical evidence useful to bank administrators in motivating customers to use mobile banking applications, helping develop a digital economy in Vietnam.
