목재세포벽(木材細胞壁)의 미세구조(微細構造)에 관한 연구(硏究) - Compression wood의 나선비후(螺旋肥厚)의 구조(構造) - (Ultrastructure of Wood Cell Wall Tracheids - The Structure of Spiral Thickenings in Compression Wood -)

  • The structure of spiral thickenings, particulary the appearance, arrangement and orientation of thickenings in compression wood of Torreya nucifera, were studied in detail by light and polarizing microscope, scanning and transmission electron microscope. The results obtained are as follows: (1) Using the inclined sections at an angle of 45 degrees to the fiber axis, it seems that we can not only observe the more accurate transverse view of the thickenings but also investigate the formation of their thickenings. (2) Generally 2-4 pieces of thickenings are projected to the cell lumen as nipple-like appearance in transverse section and are as frequent, well developed, forming pair and have the rope-like appearance in radial surface. (3) The secondary wall of early wood is composed of 3 layers (S1, S2, S3) and orientation of thickening appears S helix but that of late wood is of 2 layers (S1, S2) and that orientation shows Z helix. Above two regions are demaracted at several tracheid cells from the growth ring boundary. (4) Orientation of thickening seems to be a element showing the characteristics of compression wood in Torreya nucifera. (5) It believes that the thickenings of compression wood are integral part of the S3 in early wood tracheids and of the S2 in late wood and have the same orientations as the inner-most microfibrils in these layers. (6) Thickening and cavities seem to be not formed together in a secondary cell wall of same tracheids.

유한요소법을 이용한 나선형(螺旋形) 곡선부재의 정적해석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Static Analysis of the Helically Curved Members using Finite Element)

  • 인터체인지나 램프시설과 같은 구조물은 일정한 나선기울기를 갖는 나선형 곡선부재로 이상화시킬 수 있다. 이러한 나선형 곡선부재의 정적 및 자유진동 해석을 하기 위해 7차 hermite 형상함수를 이용한 유한요소 모델을 제시하였다. 다른 유한요소를 이용한 기존연구결과와 비교하여 나선형 유한요소는 적은수의 유한 요소로서, 보다 더 정확한 결과를 보였으며 직선 부재, 원형곡선 부재등에도 적용할 수 있음을 보였다.

The Importance of a Conchal Bowl Element in the Fabrication of a Three-Dimensional Framework in Total Auricular Reconstruction

  • Background To construct a sophisticated three-dimensional framework, numerous modifications have been reported in the literature. However, most surgeons have paid little attention to the anatomical configuration of the concha and more to its deepness and hollowness, leading to unsatisfactory outcomes. Methods For a configuration of the concha that is definitely anatomical, the author further developed and employed the conchal bowl element, which has been used by several surgeons although the results have not been published elsewhere. The author constructed the conchal bowl element in one of three patterns according to the amount of available cartilages: one block, two-pieces, or a cymba bowl element only. A total of 20 patients underwent auricular reconstruction using a costal cartilage framework between 2009 and 2012. The 8 earliest reconstructions were performed without a conchal bowl element and the latter 12 with a conchal bowl element. The patients were followed up for more than 1 year. The aesthetic results were scored by evaluating characteristics involving the stability of the crus helicis, the conchal definition, and the smoothness of the helical curve. Results The ears reconstructed early without a conchal bowl element showed a shallow and one or two incompletely separated concha with an obliterated cymba conchal space. They also did not have a realistic or smooth curve of the helix because of an unstable crus helicis. However, ears reconstructed later with the concha bowl element showed a definite crus helicis, deep cymba conchal space, and smooth helical curve. Conclusions The construction of the conchal bowl element is simple, not time-consuming procedure. It is suggested that the conchal bowl element must be constructed and attached to the main framework for natural configuration of the reconstructed ear.

금속 원통 케이스를 방사소자로 활용한 펜타입 무선 프리젠터용 비대칭 다이폴 안테나 (Asymmetric Dipole Antenna for Pen-Type Wireless Presenter Having Metallic Cylinder Case as a Radiating Element)

  • 본 논문에서는 금속 케이스를 접지 방사체로 활용한 비대칭 다이폴 안테나를 제안하고, 이를 ISM 대역(2.4~2.48 GHz)에서 동작하는 펜타입 무선 프리젠터에 적용하였다. 제안한 비대칭 다이폴 안테나는 긴 원통 모양의 금속 케이스 상단에 수직모드 헬리컬 코일이 장착된 구조로, 접지면인 금속 케이스를 방사소자로 동작하게 하여 헬리컬 안테나의 좁은 대역폭과 낮은 이득을 증가시켰다. 또한, 특수 제작된 인체 팬텀을 사용하여 사람이 무선 프리젠터의 금속 케이스를 손으로 잡을 때 안테나의 성능에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 측정 결과, 제안한 안테나는 자유공간에서 반사손실 -10 dB를 기준으로 2.3~2.5 GHz까지 200 MHz의 대역폭을 가지며, 5 dBi의 최대이득을 나타내었다. 사람 손이 금속 케이스에 접촉한 경우에는 2.24~2.72 GHz까지 480 MHz의 대역폭이 측정되었고, 최대이득은 3 dB만큼 낮아진 2 dBi로 측정되었다.

교정용 미니임플란트의 식립각도에 따른 간접골성 고정원의 효과에 대한 유한요소 해석 (Effects of the Angulation of Orthodontic Mini-Implant as an Indirect Anchorage : A Three-Dimensional Finite Element Analysis)

  • 구치부 가위교합을 개선하기 위한 여러 방법 중, 교정용 미니임플란트(OMI)와 조합된 Dragon helix를 이용한 방법이 이전에 소개된 바 있으며 이는 간접 골성고정원의 역할이 중요하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 간접골성고정원으로 사용된 OMI의 식립각도에 따라 나타나는 구치부의 치근에 나타나는 응력분포와 OMI의 표면에서의 응력 분포 및 변위를 유한요소 해석으로 비교하고자 하였다. 상악 제1대구치와 상악 제2소구치의 치근 사이에 OMI의 식립 각도를 골 표면에 대하여, $45^{\circ}$, $60^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}$으로 변화시키면서 최대응력분포와 변위를 관찰하였다. OMI의 식립 각도가 $90^{\circ}$일 때 상악 제1대구치와 상악 제2대구치의 구개 치근첨에 최대응력분포가 나타났고, 상악 제1대구치에서는 협측으로 변위의 양이 가장 적게 나타났으며, 상악 제2대구치에서는 함입 및 구개측으로의 변위량이 가장 크게 나타났다. OMI에서는 식립각도가 감소됨에 따라 최대 응력분포가 나사첨 부분으로 이동되었으며, 그에 따라 OMI의 변위량은 증가하였다. 이상의 결과로 OMI의 식립각도가 $90^{\circ}$일 때 고정원의 역할이 최대가 되었으며, 구치부 가위교합의 개선 효과가 가장 크게 나타남을 알 수 있었다.

견치 원심이동시의 초기변화에 관한 유한요소법적 연구 (A STUDY ON INITIAL CHANGES DURING CANINE RETRACTION BY THE FINITE ELEMENT METHOD)

  • Retraction of canines represents a fundamental stage in a considerable number of orthodontic treatment. Correct position of the canine after retraction is most important for function, stability, and esthetics. The purpose of this study was to investigate the stress in the periodontal tissue at the initial phase during canine retraction using various types of sectional retraction springs, by finite element method. Three dimensional model of tooth, periodontal ligament, bone and eight springs were simulated and tested. The following results were obtained. 1. In sectional retraction springs, increasing number of helix and the closed loop in preference to the open loop provided an decrease in horizontal force. Without angulating the arms of spring, the T-loop revealed the highest Moment-to-force ratio. 2. The Moment-to-force ratio raised by angulating mesial and distal arms of spring, but very large horizontal force was applied to canine. 3. When optimal force and optimal moment was applied to canine, the stress induced was homogeneous and the difference of stress value from cervix to the apex was little.

  • Screw conveyors are used extensively in industrial for conveying and elevating materials. Despite their apparent simplicity, the mechanics of the conveying action is very complex. so many engineers depend on experiential data. Capacities of screw are pumping, steady flow of polymer melts, steady volumetric throughput etc. they are affected by geometry of screw, heat flux, pressure on inside barrel, rotating velocity, friction coefficient at screw surface etc. by computation volumetric efficiency increases as rotating velocity increases and decreases as friction coefficient increases. also it decreases with short pitch length. and double flight screw is more effective than single flight screw. The temperature of polymer melts by heating pad and injection pressure play a very important role in the injection molding machine. so in this paper we analyze thermal distortion and stress of screw includes pressure and temperature distributions by finite element analysis to understand what design factors influence on volumetric throughput efficiency of the screw and thermo-mechanical characteristics of screw.

  • The deflection of an end mill is very important in machining process and cutting simulation because it affects directly workpiece accuracy, cutting force, and chattering. In this study, the deflection of the end mill was studied both experimentally and by using finite element analysis. And the moment of inertia of radial cross sections of tile helical end mill is calculated for the determination of the relation between cross section and rigidity of tile tools. Using tile Bernoulli-Euler beam and and the concept of equivalent diameter, a deflection model is established, which includes most influence from tool geomety parameters. It was found that helix angle attenuates the rigidity of the end mill.

A New Sterol Regulatory Element Binding Protein, SrbB Is Critical for Hypoxia Adaptation and Virulence in the Human Fungal Pathogen Aspergillus fumigatus

  • Aspergillus fumigatus is a major cause of invasive aspergillosis (IA), a significant health issue worldwide with high mortality rates up to 95%. Our lab is interested in how A. fumigatus adapts to low oxygen conditions 'hypoxia', which is one of the important host microenvironments. A. fumigatus SrbA is a basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcriptional regulator and belongs to sterol regulatory element binding protein (SREBP) family members. Loss of SrbA completely blocks growth in hypoxia and results in avirulence in murine models of IA suggesting an essential role of SrbA in hypoxia adaptation and virulence in A. fumigatus. We conducted chromatin immunoprecipitation sequencing (ChIP-seq) with A. fumigatus wild type using a SrbA specific antibody, and 97 genes were revealed as SrbA direct targets. One of the 'SrbA regulons' (AFUB_099590) was a putative bHLH transcriptional regulator whose sequence contained a characteristic tyrosine substitution in the basic portion of the bHLH domain of SREBPs. Therefore, we designated AFUB_099590 SrbB. Further characterization of SrbB demonstrated that SrbB is important for radial growth, biomass production, and biosynthesis of heme intermediates in hypoxia and virulence in A. fumigatus. A series of quantitative real time PCR showed that transcription of several SrbA regulons is coordinately regulated by two SREBPs, SrbA and SrbB in hypoxia. This suggests that SrbA and SrbB have both dependent and independent functions in regulation of genes responsible for hypoxia adaptation in A. fumigatus. Together, our data provide new insights into complicated roles of SREBPs in adaptation of host environments and virulence in pathogenic fungi.

  • 유전자 코드는 바이오 정보 처리에 키 포인트로 인체의 유기적인 조직체이다. 현대 과학에서는 유전자 코드 분자구조의 신비스러운 특성을 체계적으로 설명하고 이해하는데 연구가 집중되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 유전자 시스템을 대칭적으로 해석하는데 중점을 두었고, Jacket 행렬로 무잡음 RNA 유전자 코드를 가장 단순하게 해석했다. 이유는 Jacket 행렬과 RNA는 그 역행렬이 Element (Block)-wise Inverse로 그 역(Inverse)도 자신이란 점과 대칭적 성질, 그리고 Kronecker곱을 갖기 때문이다. 제안된 방법이 유전자 RNA 코돈(Codon : 괘(卦))의 견지에서 Jacket 행렬의 분해를 통해 간단하고 명료함을 보인다.
