In this study, the research processed with a chemical sensor for measuring trace amount of heavy metal ions which is based on the requirements of the efficient sensing technology as recent equipment is applies molecular system in the chemical sensing section that can precisely recognizing selective target substance and transmit its data to physical signal as a result. In this research is concentrated on realize highly precise by utilizing SPR sensor application of recognition functional sensing membrane. Consequently, according to DTSQ-dye sensing membrane, the resonance angle from low-concentration to the highest concentration $10^{-4}M$ of $Ag^+$ ion is $2.17[^{\circ}]$ and this result indicating 4.3 times larger resonance angle changes compare to the other metal substance. Based on SQ-dye sensing membrane, the difference of resonance angle between low concentration and the highest concentration $10^{-4}M$ of $Cu^{2+}$ ion is $2.3[^{\circ}]$ and this outcome is indicating 4.5 times greater resonance angle change to the other metal substance.
There is a lot of method to manage the insanitary landfill but vertical cutoff walls have been widespreadly used and were installed into the subsurface to act as a barrier to horizontal groundwater flow, The stabilized material such as specialized cement or mixed soil with additives has been generally applied for the materials of the deep soil mixing barrier in korea. The amount of the stabilized material is dependent on the field conditions, because the mixing ratio of the material and the field soil should achieve a requirement in the coefficient of permeability, lower than 1.0$\times$$10^{7}$cm/sec. This study determined the quantity and optimized function ratio of the stabilized material in the formation process of the mixed barrier that was added with stabilized material on the field soil classified into SW-SC under USCS (Unified Soil Classification System). After that the fly ash and lime were selected as an additives an that could improve the function of the stabilized material and then the method to improve the functional progress in the usage of putting into the stabilized material as an appropriate ratio was studied and reviewed. The author used the flexible-wall permeameter for measuring the permeability and unconfined compressive strength tester for compressive strength, and in the view of environmental engineering the absorption test of heavy metals and leaching test regulated by Korean Waste Management Act were performed. As the results, the suitable mixing ratio of the stabilized material in the deep soil mixing barrier was determined as 13 percent. To make workability easy, the ratio of stabilized material and water was proven to be 1 : 1.5. With the results, the range of the portion of the additives(fly ash : lime= 70 : 30) was proven to be 20-40% for improving the function of the stabilized material, lowering of permeability. In heavy metal absorption assessment of the mixing barrier system with the additives, the result of heavy metal absorption was proved to be almost same with the case of the original stabilized material; high removal efficiency of heavy metals. In addition, the leaching concentration of heavy metals from the leaching test for the environmental hazard assessment showed lower than the regulated criteria.

The estimation of the pre-processing condition of oyster is of great importance for distributors and processors. This study was attempted to establish the basic data for evaluating the processing suitability of oyster, which is the most important shellfish for domestic use and export. The data were analysed by measuring the condition index, chemical composition and heavy metal content of oysters. In order to eliminate the manual work that has to be done on a tightly closed oyster shell and avoid shrinkage in the oyster meat which is attendant on the steaming process, chemical means to open oyster were examined. finding the method of pretreatment of polyphosphate for frozen oysters were attempted to improve the product quality. The prevention of undesirable color change of the canned oyster meat is another problem to solve. The important results are as follows : 1. The ratio of meat volume and meat weight to the holding capacity by shells may be useful as an index to measure the condition index of oysters. 2. As a whole, monthly changes of moisture and fat content in oysters were reversely correlated. Protein content slightly decreased from April and rapidly decreased in July, and again rapidly increased in August but from September to November decreased slightly. In April, the content of glycogen was 4 percent. From this period to September, glycogen was rapidly decreased. From July to September, it was only 0. 7 to 1 percent but increased from October. There were little seasonal changes in pH value. The pH value of oyster meat was 6.0 to 6.2. The crude ash content was slightly decreased from June to August. 3. The range of monthly change of heavy metal content are as follows: Total mercury was 0 to 0.019 ppm, cadmium was 0.026 to 0.053 ppm, copper was 0.111 to 0.594 ppm, and lead_was 0.061 to 0.581 ppm. 4. By the results of condition index, chemical composition and heavy metal content of oysters, the suitable harvest season as raw materials for processing was the end of December to the end of May of next year. 5. The pretreatment of 10 percent polyphosphate in 5 percent salt solution of oyster meat appeared effective to reduce thawing drip during cold storage. 6. The pretreatment of $Na_2EDTA$ and BHA did not show the color prevention effect to the canned oyster meat during storage. 7. Magnesium chloride affected to open the valves of oysters.
This research verified the usefulness and practicality of citrus peel extract as a natural dye. This study dyed cotton, silk, and cotton/mulberry fiber blended fabrics using citrus peel extract, and measured the dyeability and functional property to verify their usefulness and practicality. The dyeing affinity of the citrus peel extract was measured by dyeing under alkaline conditions to determine the temperature and time for optimal dyeing conditions of the solution. The results show that a temperature and time of $60^{\circ}C$ and 30 minutes were optimal for dyeing cotton fabrics with citrus peel extract, $50^{\circ}C$ and 60 minutes for silk fabrics, and $60^{\circ}C$ and 60 minutes for cotton/mulberry fiber blended fabrics, respectively. In addition the results of measuring the color fastness of the cotton, silk, and cotton/mulberry fiber blended fabrics dyed with the citrus peel extract show that the color fastness was superior for washing, friction, sweat, and water. However, the color fastness for sunlight appeared to be slightly weak. In addition, it was found that fabric dyed with the citrus peel extract showed partial antimicrobial properties. The antimicrobial property appeared the greatest in the silk fabric. The cotton/mulberry fiber blended fabrics had 90% or more Staphylococcus aureus present, but the antimicrobial properties were not high in the cotton fabric. Additionally, the heavy metal content, which is harmful to the human body, appeared to be lower than standard figures, so the dye was found to be innocuous to humans. Therefore, when the results of this study are put together, citrus peel extract is sufficiently useful and practical as an ingredient for a natural dye. Moreover, there is ample possibility to develop citrus peel dyed fabrics as environmentally friendly fashion materials.

Oysters Crassostrea gigas are a globally popular shellfish for human consumption. As filter-feeding bivalve mollusks, oysters may harbor many microorganisms and chemicals that could pose potential human health risks. The objective of this study was to investigate the suitability of cultured oysters for raw consumption or use in seafood products by measuring concentrations of harmful microorganisms and chemicals in their flesh. Microbial concentrations in cultured oysters were found to be: $1.0{\times}10^2-6.0{\times}10^4CFU/g$ (viable cell counts), not detected $(ND)-5.4{\times}10^3CFU/g$ (coliform bacteria), $ND-1.3{\times}10^2CFU/g$ (E. coli), and $ND-4.6{\times}10^3CFU/g$ (Vibrio parahaemolyticus). Other pathogenic bacteria, including Enterohemorrhagic E. coli (EHEC), Listeria monocytogenes, Staphylococcus aureus, and Salmonella spp., were not detected in any samples. Heavy metal concentrations of cultured oysters were ND-0.239 mg/kg (total mercury), ND-1.091 mg/kg (lead), ND-0.968 mg/kg (cadmium). The concentrations of benzo(a)pyrene ranged from $0.280-0.880{\mu}g/kg$. Paralytic shellfish poison ranged from ND-0.58 mg/kg, while diarrhetic shellfish poison was not detected. No radioactivity was detected. These results suggest that oysters intended for raw consumption or use in seafood products should be subjected to chemical and biological controls.
Primary culture of cerebellar neuronal cells derived from 8-day old Long-Evans rats was used. Pure granule cells, astrocytes or mixed cells culture systems were prepared. These cells were differentiated and developed synaptic connections. And the astrocytes were identified by immunostaining with glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP). Methamphetamine (MAP), which acts on dopaminergic system and cadmium (Cd), a toxic heavy metal, were applied and biochemical assays and electrophysiological studies were performed. $LC_50$ values estimated by MTT assay of MAP and Cd were 3 mM and 2$\mu M$ respectively. Cells were treated with 1 mM or 2 mM MAP and 1$\mu M$ $CdCl_2$ for 48 hour, and the incubation media were analyzed for the content of released LDH. MAP (2 mM) and Cd significantly increased the LDH release. Cell viability was decreased in both groups and some cytopathological changes like cell swelling or vacuolization were seen. The cerebellar granule cells were used for measuring membrane currents using whole-cell clamp technique. Sodium and potassium currents were not affected by MAP neither Cd, but calcium current was significantly reduced by Cd but not affected by MAP. Therefore, in vitro neurotoxicity test system using neuronaI cells and astrocytes cultures were established and can be used in screening of potential neurotoxic chemicals.

This study was conducted to investigate the suitability of frozen oysters as a raw material for the preparation of seafood products by measuring the concentrations of harmful microorganisms and chemicals in thawed flesh. The microbial concentrations in thawed oysters were 2.3-5.0 log CFU/g for viable cell counts, not detected (ND)-1.0 log CFU/g for coliform bacteria, and ND for Escherichia coli and pathogenic bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella spp., Listeria monocytogenes, Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC), and Clostridium perfringens. In frozen oysters, the heavy metal concentration for viable cell counts was ND-0.030 mg/kg, for lead was ND-0.393 mg/kg, and for cadmium was 0.021-0.597 mg/kg. Benzo(a)pyrene, shellfish poison (paralytic shellfish and diarrhetic shellfish poisons), and radioactivity were not detected in the thawed oysters. These results suggest that frozen oysters can be safely used as a raw material for the preparation of seafood products.
This study was conducted to compare the food quality of domesticated species. Consumers surveyed for safe food intake and proper culture of food distribution. The results of the comparison study are as follows. Muscle moisture content, protein content, and fat content. K, P, and C showed relatively high values in the muscle of the sea bream. Fe showed low contents. As a result of measuring heavy metal component, Cd was not detected in sea bream and mullet, but $0.01{\pm}0.00mg/kg$ was detected in red mine. Other heavy metals were below the reference value or were not detected. Electrophoresis results showed that the band appeared at in red minefish. In the case of sea bream and swordfish, no distinctive features of the band were shown. In the case of sea bream, there was little difference in food science between the similar fish species and the red sea bream fish, but price was different. An environment should be created for consumers to buy the right ingredients at the price they want. It is necessary to educate consumers about food ingredients immediately.

The bioaccumulation of Pb and Cd dissolved in seawater was assessed measuring the concentrations recorded within blue mussel (Mytilus edulis) and oliver flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) after two weeks exposure period. The Pb and Cd concentration within the whole body of two testing organisms increased according to the exposure concentrations, and the such tendency was clear specially from the mussel. Maximum metal concentration reached $5,260({\pm}70)\;{\mu}g/g$ for Pb reared under 5.0 mg/L Pb, $1,040({\pm}40)\;{\mu}g/g$ for Cd reared under 1.0 mg/L Cd in the mussel, and indicated that the bioaccumulation of Pb and Cd was directly related to the rearing medium concentrations. Bioconcentration factors (BCF) reached very high values for Pb (maximum value: $12,100{\pm}1,400$) in the mussel reared under lowest Pb concentration (0.01 mg/L). The BCF value for Cd in the mussel were also far higher at exposure to low Cd concentration than high Cd concentration. At higher external concentrations, the BCF for Cd and Pb declined. This demonstrated the ability of two testing organisms to rapidly uptake heavy metals particularly when exposed to low external concentration. The mean Pb concentration was slightly higher in the gill of mussel than in the digestive gland, while Cd showed a higher level in the digestive gland than in the gill.
In order to improve the efficiency of methane steam reforming process, a part of the system which produces hydrogen from heavy hydrocarbon resources such as coal, we combined metal catalyst with CaO sorbent and fabricated catalyst/sorbent. To increase the porosity and the compressive strength of sorbent, carbon black and ${\alpha}-alumina$ were mixed with CaO powder during preparation. The effects of sorbent composition on the physical properties were investigated by SEM, TGA, BET, XRD, abrasion strength measuring device and adsorption-desorption instrument. Sorbent with 5 wt% $Al_2O_3$ and 10 wt% carbon black showed the best physical features with $7.61kg_f$ strength and 47% $CO_2$ adsorption capability. Various metal catalysts such as Ni, Co and Fe were supported on the sorbent developed and 10 wt% Ni/sorbent was selected for methane steam reforming process based on the result of reaction experiment. The reaction system using the catalyst/sorbent showed better $H_2$ productivity compared to the detached system with catalyst and sorbent, indicating the effectiveness of the system developed in this study.
