The friction welding has more technical and economic advantages than the other welding processes. As this welding process has the characteristics such as curtailment of production time, materials, cost reduction, etc., it has been widely used in production of various mechanical components which have complex shapes. So, this paper deals with optimizing the friction welding conditions and analyzing various mechanical properties of the friction welded joints of torsion bar material SUP9A bar to bar. The results obtained are summarized as follows; 1) The quantitative relation between heating time($t_{1}$, sec) and total upset(U, mm)can be obtained. The empirical formula obtained is ; U = 3.29$t_{1}$ + 1.6 2) The tensile strength($\sigma_{t}$, kgf/$mm^{2}$) of friction welding joints as post weld heat treated(PWHT) depends upon heating time($t_{1}$, sec) quantitatively and the empirical formula obtained is ; $\sigma$= -5.1$t_{1}\;^{2}$+44.90$t_{1}$+45.2 3) It is certain that the optimum condition for friction welded joints of SUP9A steel bars of diameter 14.5mm is, considering on various properties such as tensile strength, torsional strength, impact energy and strain of the joints after PWTH ; n = 2000rpm, $P_{1}$=8kgf/$mm^{2}$, $P_{2}$=20kgf/$mm^{2}$, $t_{1}$=4sec, $t_{2}$=3sec 4) The tensile strength, torsional strength and hardness were increased with the increased with the increasing carbon equivalent, but toughness was decreased.

The drag reduction(DR) for Betaine+Amin and Xantan Gum as kinds of surfactant and Polyacrylamide as kinds of polymer solution according to the fluid velocity, temperature and surfactant concentration were compared experimentally. For this study, two kinds of experimental apparatus for short time and long time measurement were established. Each experimental appratus was equipped with hot water storage tanks, pumps, testing pipe network, flowmeter, two pressure gauges and data logging system was built for them. Results showed that Betaine+Amin and Xanthan Gum as kinds of surfactant had appeared optimal DR around 200-500 ppm and their DR tended to be decreased when flow velocity increased but Polyacrylamide as kinds of polymer solution showed the opposite trend to be increased when flow velocity increased. The both of them showed above 40% DR in the case of better condition by the short term measurement. But Polyacrylamide as kinds of polymer solution showed more degradation than Betaine+Amin and Xanthan Gum as kinds of surfactant by the long term measurement. As a result, Betaine+Amin and Xanthan Gum as kinds of surfactant showed better materials to use to the district heating system.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the change in blood velocity(mm/sec) when compression and/or heat were applied to the knee joint for the elderly who has both normal and painful legs with osteoarthritis(OA). Experimental compression knee band was prepared from the 3D knee data of the average women in 60's. 3D replica of knee was reduced by 7, 10, and 13% from the nude pattern in course direction. Clothing pressure was measured at the front and back of each healthy and painful knee of elderly women for one minute while standing and sitting on the chair. Blood velocity was measured at 13 cm upper from the mid-patella for 15 minutes. Results are as follows: first, compression or heating treatment itself did not change blood velocity of both legs; second, combination treatment with heating and compression was effective to increase blood velocity. In details, for healthy legs, combination treatments with compression by 10% reduced pattern(about 1.3kPa) and heating($43^{\circ}C$) induced the maximal blood velocity, however, for knees with OA, 7% reduced pattern(about 1.0kPa) with simultaneous heating($43^{\circ}C$) was more effective than other cases. These results indicated that pain and spasticity of knee joint with OA could be reduced by applying heat and compression therapy, where the compression level of painful knee should be slightly lower than of healthy leg.

In this study, an electric resistance dual-spot welding process using a copper electrode inserted in a heating electrode is suggested for the spot welding of AZ31 magnesium sheets. This spot-welding process involves two heating methods for welding at the interfacial zone between the magnesium sheets, one of which is the heating method by thermal conduction from the heating electrode heated by the welding current induced to the steel electrode, and the other heating method uses the electric resistance between the contacted surfaces of the two sheets by the welding current induced to the copper electrode. This welding process includes the welding variables, such as the current induced in the heating electrode and the copper electrode, and the outer diameters of the heating electrode. This is because the heat conducted from the heating electrode can be maintained at a higher temperature in the welding zone, which has a slow cooling effect on the nugget of the melted metal after the welding step. The pressure exerted during the pressing of the magnesium sheets by the heating electrode can be increased around the nugget zone at the spot-welding zone. Thus, it not only reduces the warping effect of the elastoplastic deformation of sheets, but also the corona bond can make it less prone to cracking at the welded zone, thereby reducing the number of nuggets expelled out of the corona bond. In conclusion, it was known that an electric resistance dual spot welding process using the copper electrode inserted in the heating electrode can improve the welding properties in the electric resistance spot welding process of AZ31 magnesium sheets.

During a hypothetical high-pressure accident in a nuclear power plant (NPP), molten corium can be ejected through a breach of a reactor pressure vessel (RPV) and dispersed by a following jet of a high-pressure steam in the RPV. The dispersed corium is fragmented into smaller droplets in a reactor cavity of the NPP by the steam jet and released into other compartments of the NPP by a overpressure in the cavity. The fragments of the corium transfer thermal energy to the ambient air in the containment or interact chemically with steam and generate hydrogen which may be burnt in the containment. The thermal loads from the ejected molten corium on the containment which is called direct containment heating (DCH) can threaten the integrity of the containment. DCH in a NPP containment is related to many physical phenomena such as multi-phase hydrodynamics, thermodynamics and chemical process. In the evaluation of the DCH load, the melt dispersion rates depending on the RPV pressure are the most important parameter. Mostly, DCH was evaluated by using lumped-analysis codes with some correlations obtained from experiments for the dispersion rates. In this study, MC3D code was used to evaluate the dispersion rates in the APR1400 NPP during the high-pressure accidents. MC3D is a two-phase analysis code based on Eulerian four-fields for melt jet, melt droplets, gas and water. The dispersion rates of the corium melt depending on the RPV pressure were obtained from the MC3D analyses and the values specific to the APR1400 cavity geometry were compared to a currently available correlation.
This study represents numerical analysis in top opening rectangular with a heating source. The governing equations were solved by a finite volume method, a SIMPLE algorithm was adopted to solve a pressure term. The top boundary with free surface was calculated by energy balance condition. As the results of simulations, the magnitudes of the velocity vectors and isotherms were very small at the lower space of a heating source. The mean Nusselt numbers are increased proportionally to the Grashof number, the heat transfer at Y/H=0.25 was greater than other positions.
The natural convective heat transfer in a rectangular enclosure with a heating source has been studied by experiment and numerical analysis. The governing equations were solved by a finite volume method, a SIMPLE algorithm was adopted to solve a pressure term. The parameters for the numerical study are positions and surface temperatures of a heating source i.e., Y /H =0.25, 0.5, 0.75 and 11$^{\circ}C$$\leq$ΔT$\leq$59$^{\circ}C$. The results of isotherms and velocity vectors have been represented, and the numerical results showed a good agreement with experimental values. Based on the numerical results, the mean Nusselt number of the rectangular enclosure wall could be expressed as a function of Grashof number.

In recently, annealing process of cold rolled sheet tend to change to continuous annealing process for improving quality, saving yield. In the meantime as demand for various kind and small lot of products has been increasing, batch annealing has been appreciated for its small restriction for the operation. So, we tested on the effect for the proper heating temperatures, heating time of cycle, cooling time and total cycle time in this annealing process of hi tensile strength steel for automobile. As a result of several investigation. we confirmed for the following characteristics; In this process, we knew that 68$0^{\circ}C$ is suitable for this heating temp. cycle heating time of 38 Hr, cooling time of 31 Hr and total cycle time of 70 Hr. Still more, we could know that it is proper for cold rolling before annealing to be managed by 7 pass because of the act on high pressure.

Sintered CdS/CdTe solar cells have been farbricated by coating a (Cd+Te) slurry on sintered CdS films followed by the sintering at 625.deg.C for one hour with various heating rates. When cadmium and tellurinm powders are used instead of CdTe powder to form CdS/CdTe junction, CdTe is formed in the temperature range of 290.deg.C-400.deg.C. The microstructure of the CdTe films depends strongly on the heating rate of the sintering due to the low melting temperature and the high vapor pressure of the elemental Cd and Te. An optimum heating rate obtain CdTe films with uniform and dense microstructure which, in turn, improves the efficiency of the sintered CdS/CdTe solar cells. All-polycrystalline CdS/CdTe solar cells with an efficiency of 9.57% under 50mW/cm$^{2}$ tungsten light have been farbricated by using a heating rate of 14.deg.C/min.
