고속 비행체 공기흡입관 구조설계를 위한 효율적 유체-열 통합해석 연구 (An Efficient Fluid-Thermal Integrated Analysis for Air-Intake Structure Design of a High Speed Air Vehicle)

  • In this research, low fidelity air/heat load analysis was conducted for the intake of high speed vehicle. For air/heat load calculations, aerodynamic properties at the surface and the boundary layer edge were estimated using Taylor-Maccoll equation for conical flow, shockwave relation and Prandtl-Meyer expansion equation for internal and external flow. Couette flow assumption and Reynolds analogy were used in order to calculate convective heat transfer coefficient. In order to calculate skin friction coefficient for heat transfer coefficient analysis, Van Driest method II and Reference Enthalpy method were considered. An axis symmetric SCRAMJET model was selected as a reference configuration for verifying the proper implementation of the present method. Comparison of the results using the present method and Computational Fluid Dynamic analysis showed that the present method is valuable for efficiently providing pressure and heat loads for air-intake structure design of the high speed air vehicle.

Thermal-flow analysis of a simple LTD (Low-Temperature-Differential) heat engine

  • A combined thermal and flow analysis was carried out to study the behavior and performance of a small, commercial LTD (Low-Temperature-Differential) heat engine. Laminar-flow solutions for annulus and channel flows were employed to estimate the viscous drags on the piston and the displacer and the pressure difference across the displacer. Temperature correction factors were introduced to account for the departure from the ideal heat transfer processes. The analysis results indicate that the work required to overcome the viscous drags on engine moving parts and to move the displacer is much smaller than the moving-boundary work produced by the power piston for temperature differentials in the neighborhood of $20^{\circ}C$ and engine speeds below 10 RPS. A comparison with experimental data reveals large degradations from the ideal heat transfer processes. Thus, heat-transfer devices inside the displacer cylinder are recommended.

평행류 열교환기의 헤더내 열유동 해석 (Thermal and Flow Analysis inside the Header of a Parallel Flow Heat Exchanger)

  • This study numerically analyzes the thermal and flow characteristics inside the header in PFHE(parallel-flow heat exchanger) by employing a three-dimensional turbulence modeling. The following quantities are examined by varying the injection angle of the working fluid, the location of entrance and the shape of entrance: flow nonuniformity, heat transfer rate, and flow distribution in each passage. The result shows that the degree of significance among the parameters affecting the header part is in the order of the injection angle, the shape of entrance, and the location of entrance. The result also indicates that heat transfer rates compared to the reference model are increased by about 152% for the angle of injection of -$20^{\circ}C$, by about 127% for the shape of entrance with right and left long rectangular form, and by about 108% for the location of entrance located at the lowest Position.

지중열교환기의 고밀도폴리에틸렌 배관 형상에 따른 열전달 성능 특성에 대한 수치해석적 연구 (Numerical Analysis on the Heat Transfer Characteristics of HDPE Pipe with the Variation of Geometries for Ground Loop Heat Exchangers)

  • A ground source heat pump (GSHP) system is recommended as a heating and cooling system to solve the pending energy problem in the field of air conditioning, because it has the highest efficiency. However, higher initial construction cost works as a barrier to the promotion and dissemination of GSHP system. In this study, numerical analysis on the characteristics of high density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe with spiral inside was executed. The heat transfer and flow characteristics of it were compared with those of a conventional smooth HDPE pipe. The heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop of the spiral HDPE pipe were higher than those of the smooth HDPE pipes at the same fluid flow rate. By decreasing the flow rate, the spiral HDPE pipe represented similar values of heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop to the smooth HDPE pipe. The lower flow rate of the spiral HDPE pipe comparing with it of the smooth HDPE pipe is estimated to reduce the length of the ground loop heat exchanger.

레일 체결구 결함 검측 모듈의 방열성능 개선을 위한 열 해석 (Thermal Analysis for Improvement of Heat Dissipation Performance of the Rail Anchoring Failure Detection Module)

  • In this paper, various heat dissipation designs for a rail anchoring failure detection module were investigated by a thermal flow analysis. For the detection module with the heat dissipation design on the overall housing surface, an average temperature inside the module was lowered by $25^{\circ}C$ when compared to no heat dissipation design. In addition, an internal heat-flow blocking layer and an heat conduction layer inserted between the LED module and housing case were effective in reducing the temperature in the rail anchoring failure detection, which has a limited space for installation and little air flow. Especially, the temperature near LED module decreased below $55^{\circ}C$ when the optimal heat dissipation design was applied.

  • In this paper, we researched the heat transfer analysis of 1.2[kW] BLDC motor on the condition of the external flow. The BLDC motor is fallen under influence of some heat generated by rotationg motor speed and it changes the life and confidence of motor. The heat makes to reduce the life of insulation and the magnetization. So motor can't make own performance. Therefore we calculated the losses about number of revolutions of motor. And then, we analyzed the heat transfer of BLDC motor by using the results when a fan attached to motor makes the external flow or not. The results showed that the temperature of motor increased constant values irrespective of external air temperature. The temperature of motor decreased very lower values than prior researches when the fan makes the external flow. In this method we can analyze the performance, losses and heat transfer of motor applied in the many industries.

공기유동에 대한 고온상태의 비원형 도과내에서의 열전달 및 압력강하의 측정 (Measurement of Heat Transfer and Friction Coefficients for Flow of Air in Noncircular Ducts At High Surface Temperatures.)

  • Measurement of average of heat transfer and friction coefficients were obtained with air flowing through electrically heated ducts having square, rectangular(aspect ration, 5), and triangular cross section for range of surface temperature from $540^{\circ}$to $1780^{\circ}$ R and Reynolds number from 1000 to 330,000. The results indicates that the effect of heat flux on correlations of the average heat transfer and friction coefficients is similar to that obtained for circular tubes in previous investigation and was nearly eliminated by evaluating the physical properties and density of the air a film temperature halfway between the average surface and fluid bulk temperatures, With the Nusselt and Reynolds numbers on the hydraulic diameter of the ducts, the data for the noncircular ducts could be represented by the same equations obtained in the previous investigation for circular tubes. Correlation of the average difference between the surface corner and midwall temperatures for the square duct was in agreement with predicted values from a previous analysis. However, for the rectangular and triangular ducts, the measured corner temperature was greater by approximately 20 and 35 percent, respectively, than the values predicted by analysis.

사각채널에서 사다리꼴 와류발생기에 의한 열전달 촉진에 대한 수치해석 (Numerical Study on the Heat Transfer Enhancement of Trapezoidal Vortex Generator in a Rectangular Channel)

  • Vortex Generators are used in heat exchanger to enhance the heat transfer of air side. 3-D numerical analysis is performed on heat transfer characteristics of a channel with trapezoidal vortex generator. We investigate the effects of vortex generators with two different inclined angles to flow direction which are forward and backward vortex generators. The thermal hydraulic performance such as Nu and pressure drop, is compared quantitatively. The results show that vortex generator enhances the heat transfer by developing boundary layers and secondary flow in the downstream. The downwash flow region corresponds to the maximum Nu, while the upwash flow region corresponds to Nu minimum. In the view of the heat transfer characteristics, FVG is better than BVG. However, when flow is turbulent as Re increases, the pressure drop for FVG is higher than that for BVG.

  • The real chip and similarity model were used to investigate the thermal behavior and velocity distribution of air from the heat source with the location and the amount of heat experimentally and numerically, and compared. The heat generated in the block is not cooled by convection and show the high temperature by the stagnation of heat flow. After maintaining the high temperature of block by the natural convection, the sudden drop of temperature with the air flow was shown in the channel but the decreasing rate was small with the time. The inward block was effected by infinitesimal air flow generated between block and channel and outward block was effected by the entry condition.

전기히터의 설계 변수에 따른 순간온수기 열유동 특성 해석 (Analysis of heat and fluid flows in an instant water heater according to design parameters of an electric heat device)

  • This study aims to explore the heat transfer and flow phenomena inside an instant water heater and the influence of the design parameters of the water heater on the heating performance was investigated by 3-D numerical simulations considering heat convection. The design parameters are the heating ceramic dimension, the power of the heating device, and the water flow rate. The results show that a reasonable space for the heating device is required to optimize the heating performance. It is desirable to design higher heating device as possible for a given electric power. There exists a critical water flow rate that best meets the heating performance. The change in electric power has no impact on the flow phenomena and heating performance.
