세라믹스 용사 코팅 특성에 미치는 진공열처리의 영향 (Effect of Vacuum Heat Treatment on the Properties in Thermal Sprayed Ceramics Coating)

  • The effect of vacuum heat treatment in the thermal sprayed ceramics coating on a capstan by either high velocity oxygen fuel(HVOF) or plasma thermal spray process was investigated. The coating materials applied on the capstan were tungsten and chrome carbides. In order to characterize the interface between coating layer and bare materials, hardness, adhesion strength, X-ray diffraction(XRD) and microstructural analysis are conducted. The adhesion strength of the carbide coated materials by HVOF process is over 500MPa compared to those of plasma coating process is 230MPa. In case of the carbide coated materials by HVOF process, the adhesion strength is increased to 15MPa and the porosity is reduced under 5% by vacuum heat treatment for 5 hrs at $1000^{\circ}C$. The XRD results reveal that the increasement is believed due to the phase stabilization of metastable $Cr_3C_2$ phase to stable $Cr_{23}C_6$ phase.

Dry-Heat Treatment Process for Enhancing Viral Safety of an Antihemophilic Factor VIII Concentrate Prepared from Human Plasma

  • Viral safety is a prerequisite for manufacturing clinical antihemophilic factor VIII concentrates from human plasma. With particular regard to the hepatitis A virus (HAV), a terminal dry-heat treatment ($100^{\circ}C$ for 30 min) process, following lyophilization, was developed to improve the virus safety of a solvent/detergent-treated antihemophilic factor VIII concentrate. The loss of factor VIII activity during dry-heat treatment was of about 5%. No substantial changes were observed in the physical and biochemical characteristics of the dry-heat-treated factor VIII compared with those of the factor VIII before dry-heat treatment. The dry-heat-treated factor VIII was stable for up to 24 months at $4^{\circ}C$. The dry-heat treatment after lyophilization was an effective process for inactivating viruses. The HAV, murine encephalomyocarditis virus (EMCV), and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) were completely inactivated to below detectable levels within 10 min of the dry-heat treatment. Bovine herpes virus (BHV) and bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) were potentially sensitive to the treatment. However porcine parvovirus (PPV) was slightly resistant to the treatment. The log reduction factors achieved during lyophilization and dry-heat treatment were ${\geq}5.55$ for HAV, ${\geq}5.87$ for EMCV, ${\geq}5.15$ for HIV, 6.13 for BHV, 4.46 for BVDV, and 1.90 for PPV. These results indicate that dry-heat treatment improves the virus safety of factor VIII concentrates, without destroying the activity. Moreover, the treatment represents an effective measure for the inactivation of non-lipid-enveloped viruses, in particular HAV, which is resistant to solvent/detergent treatment.

  • 레이저 표면경화처리는 고밀도 에너지 열원에 의해 레이저 조사부위만 급속 가열한 후 표면의 열이 내부로 전도되어 급속히 자기냉각 됨으로써 표면을 경화시키는 방법이다. 이 표면처리 방법은 열처리에 의한 열변형이 거의 없고, 표면경화처리 이후 다른 공정을 수반하지 않는다. 또한 국부적인 가공이 가능하기 때문에 복잡한 형상을 가지는 금형에는 적합한 표면처리 방법이다. 본 연구에서는 열처리에 적합한 빔 프로파일을 가진 고출력 다이오드 레이저를 이용하여 금형재료용 주철의 표면처리를 실시하였다. 프레스 금형 공정에 따른 금형의 형상이 다르기 때문에 적용부위에 따라 시험편을 평면과 모서리부로 나누어 열처리를 실시하였다. 이때 모서리부의 열처리는 광학헤드를 $10^{\circ}$ 기울인 상태에서 진행하였다. 그 결과, 모서리부의 열처리는 평면부와 비교하여 형상에 따른 열전달 루트가 제한되므로, 입열이 집중되기 쉬워 평면 열처리보다 빠른 이송속도에서 경화가 이루어졌다.

열전달 모델을 이용한 폐수처리공정의 온도 예측 (Temperature Prediction for the Wastewater Treatment Process using Heat Transfer Model)

  • 본 논문은 생물학적 활성오니 폐수처리공정의 열전달 모델식을 제시하여 공정의 온도를 예측하였다. 열전달 모델은 폐수처리공정에 들어오고 나가는 모든 열을 고려하였다. 공정에 들어오는 열은 태양 복사열과 포기조 impeller의 기계적 에너지의 변환열, 포기조 내의 생화학 반응열이다. 공정에서 나가는 열은 폐수 자체의 복사열, 포기작용에 의한 증발열과 포기조 표면으로 나가는 전도열, 바람에 의한 대류열, 포기조와 지표면과의 전도열을 고려하였다. 들어오고 나가는 모든 열은 기존의 열전달 경험식을 적용하였다. 적용된 경험식으로 폐수처리장 공정의 열전달 모델식을 제시하였다. 모델식으로 실제 폐수처리공정의 온도를 예측하였으며, 모델식 예측치와 실제값이 $1.0^{\circ}C$ 이내로 일치하였다.

  • Aus-tempering heat treatment is suitable for thin and small-sized in precision parts. However, the heat treatment process relies on the experience and skill of the operator, making it challenging to produce precision parts due to the cold forging process. The aims of this study is to explore suitable machine learning models using data from the aus-tempering heat treatment process and analyze the factors that significantly impact the mechanic properties (e.g. hardness). As a result, the study analyzed, from a machine learning perspective, how hardness prediction varies based on the quenching temperature, carbon (C), and copper (Cu) contents.

  • The sintering process of BSCCO 2223 tapes is a complex process that is very sensitive to parameters, such as temperature, oxygen partial pressure, heating and cooling rate and holding time. During the first heat treatment, 2212 phase of precursor powder is partially transformed into 2223 phase and some residual secondary phases, such as $(Bi,Pb)_2$$Sr_2$CuO/sub y/(2201), $(Ca,Sr)_2$CuO/sub y/(2/1AEC), (Ca,Sr)/sub 14/Cu/sub 24/O/sub 41/(14/24 AEC) etc. The secondary phases are difficult to be removed from the BSCCO 2223 matrix on the heat treatment. These secondary phases degrade the critical current density. In order to minimize the amount and size of alkaline earth cuprate(AEC) particles step heat treatment is applied during the first heat treatment under the varying atmosphere. Experimental results showed that by adapting the step heat treatment process, the amount and particle size of the secondary phases in the final tapes are decreased. Consequently, the BSCCO 2223grain texture and Jc properties are improved.

Improvement of Physical and Drying Properties of Large Diameter and Long Axis Moso Bamboo (Phyllostachys pubescens) Poles Using Heat Treatment

  • This study aimed to convert underutilized moso bamboo into high-value added products such as fences, interior materials, lighting fixtures, and accessories. Green moso bamboo poles with a diameter of approximately 10 cm and a length of approximately 3.7 m were heat treated at 140℃ using a large-scale kiln. The processing time was meticulously adjusted through various stages, including pretreatment (6-8 hours at 60℃), cooking (8-10 hours at 100℃), steaming (26-30 hours at 120℃), heating (4-6 hours at 140℃), and finally, cooling (below 80℃). A meticulously designed heat treatment process has enabled efficient mass production of moso bamboo poles with improved qualities, including minimal splitting, moisture levels below 3%, and a specific gravity of 1.05. The focus of this study was to present the physical and drying properties, such as color, dimensional change, specific gravity, moisture content, and splitting, observed during the heat treatment process.

Controlling the secondary phase of BSCCO 2223 tapes by thermal slide heat treatment(TSHT)

  • The phase transformation, variation of secondary phase, and critical current density $(J_c) for (Bi,Pb)_2Sr_2Ca_2Cu_3O_10 (2223)$ tapes have been studied through the thermal slide heat treatment (TSHT) process. This process consists of a multiple variations of oxygen partial pressures and temperatures at the initial heat treatment During the initial heat treatment some secondary phase such as $(Ca,Sr)_2CuO_3(2/1 AEC), (Ca,Sr)_{14}Cu_{24}O_{41} (14/24 AEC), and (Bi,Pb)_2Sr_2CuO_y$(2201, amorphous phase) farm in Bi-2223 tapes, especially at the 2223 grain boundaries. These secondary phases are detrimental to the phase transformation and final properties. In order to control the secondary phase in Bi-2223 tapes the amount and size of secondary phases among the TSHT process were observed. The results indicate that the amount and particle size of AEC particles were smaller when the TSHT process was used than when the normal process at the initial heat treatment was used which results in the improved $J_c$ properties after the final process.

  • Thermal energy control is a important factor to control properties of large sized product in ingot-forging. Good control of thermal energy helps to increase characteristics and eliminate defects of large cast-forged part, such as large sized forged shell. We have studied about not only large size ring forging process and after heat treatment process by FEM simulation. Changes of temperature and microstructure for forged shell were predicted according to different heat treatment conditions. Therefore, we can choose the proper heat treatment condition by FEA. The sectional properties confirmed by practical experiment and evaluation have presented possibilities of process design by computational analysis.
