가솔린 엔진에서의 냉각수로의 전열량에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Heat Rejection to Coolant in a Gasoline Engine)

  • The heat rejection to coolant is a dominant factor for building vehicle cooling system such as radiator and cooling fan. Since the vehicle cooling system also has effects on fuel consumption and noise, the study of heat rejection to coolant has been emphasized. However, the study on heat rejection to coolant has been mainly focused on the field that related to the characteristics of combustion and localized heat loss. It is no much of use in design for the entire cooling system because it is focused on such a specific point. In this work, the heat rejection rate to coolant for four different engines are obtained to derive a simple heat transfer empirical formula that can be applied to the engine cooling system design, and it is compared with the other studies. Also, to observe effects of engine operation factors and heat transfer factors on coolant, we measured the metal temperature and the heat rejection rate. The heat rejection to coolant does not depend significantly upon the coolant flowrate, but mainly upon the amount of air fuel mixture and the air fuel ratio as long as the composition of coolant does not change. The reduction of heat rejection to coolant did not effectively improve the fuel consumption, but was mostly converted to raise the exhaust gas temperature and the oil temperature.

  • In recent applications, map controlled thermostat has been adapted to optimize engine cooling system and vehicle cooling system. First of all, this strategy is focused on improving fuel consumption rate and reducing emissions, especially unburned hydrocarbon. The object can be obtained through controlling engine metal temperature by varying engine coolant temperature with engine load and speed. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to understand the characteristics of engine metal temperature and heat rejection rate to coolant. From the results of tested engines, it is obvious that fuel consumption rate has more dominant effect on engine metal temperatures than the corresponding engine power does. Also, Re-Nu relation which shows heat rejection rate to coolant in function of air-fuel mixture and engine specifications has been studied. Also, the empirical Re-Nu relation at full loaded engine was developed.

엔진 물통로 내부 벽면 스케일 축적이 LPG 엔진의 열적 내구성에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구 (A Study on Effect of Scale Formation in Water Jacket on Thermal Durability in LPG Engine)

  • In this paper, the effects of scale formation in engine water jacket upon the thermal durability of engine itself and its component parts were studied. To understand the effect of quality of water, a full load engine endurance test for 50 hours was carried out with not-treated underground water. The followings were found through the tested engine inspection after the endurance test; 1-2 mm thick scale formation in the engine water jacket, valve seat wear, piston top land scuffing, piston pin stick, and cylinder bore scuffing in siamese area. In order to understand the causes of above test results, the heat rejection rate to coolant, the metal surface temperature of combustion chamber, and the oil and exhaust gas temperatures were measured and analyzed. The scale formed in the engine water jacket played a role as thermal insulator. The scale formed in the engine reduced the heat rejection rate to coolant and it caused to increase the metal surface temperature. The reduced heat rejection rate to coolant increased the heat rejection rate to oil and exhaust gas and increased the oil and exhaust gas temperature. Also, the reasons of valve seat wear, piston top land scuffing and cylinder bore scuffing, and piston pin stick quantitatively analyzed in this paper.

  • 새로운 엔진과 차량을 개발하여 엔진을 차량에 탑재할 때, 중요하게 고려해야 할 사항 중의 하나는 냉각 성능이다. 만약 냉각 성능이 열악하다면 엔진은 과열되어 파손되게 된다. 그러나 자동차회사에서 일반적으로 엔진은 차량보다 훨씬 빠른 시기에 개발이 진행되게 되어 엔진을 차량에 탑재한 조건에서 냉각 성능을 시험할 수 없다. 본 연구에서는 몇 가지 시험과 계산 결과를 이용하여 엔진의 냉각 성능을 추정하였다. 첫 번째로 엔진의 열정산 시험이 진행되었다. 두 번째로 냉각수 유동 시험이 진행되었다. 이 시험에서 라디에이터로 유입되는 유량을 구할 수 있다. 그리고 차량의 냉각 시험 성능 조건으로부터 차량의 부하와 속도를 구하고, 이로부터 엔진의 토크와 rpm이 계산되었다. 그리고 이러한 결과를 비교하여 엔진의 냉각 성능이 추정되었다.

좁은 공간 내의 밀폐형 장치 냉각시스템에 대한 열평형 평가 (Evaluation of Heat Balance for Cooling System of an Armored Installation in Small Space)

  • In this study, the heat balance test of an engine was conducted, and the heat released to coolant is measured and corrected using a power adjustment factor for high fuel temperature to simulate heat rejection of the engine. An engine-converter matching simulation program which can compute the engine speed, transmission output speed, transmission input and output power is developed from the vehicle, transmission and engine performance curve. With this information and the engine heat rejection characteristics, the engine and transmission heat rejection rates can be determined at given condition. In analyzing the air mass flow, a sub program computing the air mass flow rate from the equation of the pressure balance between cooling fan static pressure rise and pressure losses of cooling components is developed.

  • In this study, the prediction method of coolant flow rates has been developed and applied to an engine and vehicle cooling system. The flow rate passing through each component of the system is very important parameter to evaluate the heat transfer process form the combustion gas to the coolant and the heat rejection process form the radiator /heater to the ambient air. However, the present study reveals that the measurement using the flowmeter fails to give practical flow rates due to its additive resistance. In contrast, the present method which uses the parallel and serial relationship of flow resistance proved to be a good tool to predict the real flow rates. It can be also used to design the cooling system in the incipient stage of engine/vehicle development . The procedure was coded to the computer program so as to use it flexibly and, in the future, to expand it into an independent design tool of the whole cooling system including the heat release and rejection.

수평형 지열원 히트펌프 시스템에 관한 연구 (A Study on Horizontal Ground Source Heat Pump Systems)

  • 지열원 히트펌프 시스템은 난방과 냉방부분에서 두드러진 관심을 보이고 있다. 국내에 설치된 지열원 히트펌프 시스템의 대부분은 수직형 방식으로 연구대상 또한 수직형이 주류이다. 본 연구에서는 수평형 지열원 시스템을 시설하우스에 설치하여 성능을 조사하였다. 연구결과, 히트펌프만 고려한 난방성능계수는 3.64이고 지열순환펌프를 포함한 성능계수는 3.31로 나타났다. 응축기 제거열에 대한 순환펌프의 동력은 28.0 W/kW이고, 열교환기길이는 53.3m/kW였다. 지중으로부터의 평균채열량은 14.58 W/m이고, 응축열에 대한 열교환기가 매립된 트렌치길이는 27.7m/kW였다.

막 분리 공정을 이용한 1차 계통 실리카 제거에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Silica Removal in Primary System using the Membrane Process)

  • 원전 1차 계통내에 실리카는 알카리 토금속(Ca, Mg, Al 등)과 결합하여 원전 연료 피복재에 열전달을 방해하는 규석층(Zeolite)를 형성한다. 이렇게 형성된 규석층은 원전 피복재 손상의 원인이 된다. 이러한 원전 1차 계통내 실리카의 문제점들은 EPRI 보고서 등에 그 문제점이 꾸준히 제기되어 왔으며 이러한 문제점들을 해결하기 위하여 막분리 공정을 이용하고자 하였다. 먼저 실험실 규모의 실험을 통해 NF막의 실리카 제거율이 약 $60\;{\sim}\;70\%$, Boron 제거율이 약 $10\;{\sim}\;20\%$로 그 적용 가능성을 확인하였으며, FilmTec과 Osmonics 사 NF막 제품 4종에 대하여 현장 실험을 수행하였다. 현장 사용후연료 저장 붕산수 400L를 시료로 한 실험에서 운전압력 $10kg_{f}/cm^2$에서 FilmTec 사의 NF90-2540이 실리카 제거율이 약 $98\%$, Boron 제거율이 약 $43\%$로 확인되었으며 또한 NF270-2540이 실리카 제거율이 약 $38\%$, Boron 제거율이 약 $3.5\%$로 확인되었다. 이를 바탕으로 장기운전 특성 실험 등의 추가적인 연구를 통해 최적의 실리카 제거를 위한 막 분리공정을 설계 할 예정이다.

A/C 콘덴서를 포함한 차량냉각 성능예측에 관한 연구 (A Study on Prediction Method of Vehicle Cooling Performance with A/C Condenser)

  • An analysis method to predict performance of a vehicle cooling system which is composed of radiator, A/C condenser, cooling fan, and etc. is suggested. Air flow through the heat exchanger system and heat rejection rate which dominate the cooling performance are analyzed. Heat transfer with A/C refrigerant phase change is also considered in the analysis. Some predicted results are compared with experimental data for various operating conditions. This evaluation procedure will be useful for the design of optimal vehicle cooling system.

가압식 코팅법을 이용한 다층막 제조 (Preparation of the Multilayer Membrane Using the Phase Separated and Pressurization (PSP) Method)

  • 다공성 지지체인 Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) 중공사막에 염석법을 기반으로 하여 Polyethyleneimine (PEI)와 Polyvinylsulfonic acid (PVSA)를 가압법(phase separated and pressurization, PSP)으로 코팅시켜 다층막을 제조하였다. 이에 열처리 온도, 코팅농도, 유입수 농도, 가교시간 및 가교제 농도에 대하여 NaCl 100 ppm을 공급액으로 하여 4 atm에서 투과도와 제거율을 알아보고자 하였다. 가장 좋은 결과로는 PEI 20,000 ppm과 PVSA 1,000 ppm, PEI 15%에 말산 2% 수용액으로 가압코팅 후 열처리하였을 때 투과도 24.3 LMH, 제거율 82.1%의 결과를 얻을 수 있었다.
