  • Recently available heat pump system by using air heat-source is not efficient. Because the mean temperature of korean winter season is low, economy of air heat-source heat pump descend, and COP is below 3.0. This paper was practiced the simulation on evaluation criteria for heat pump heating and cooling systems to resident building. As a result, heating and cooling composition heat pump system apply to the building needed to be provided heat source for 24 hours.

  • The greenhouse heating system with heat pump and latent heat storage was built for development of simulation model and validation. The computer simulation model for the system to predict temperature of air, soil surface and cover film in the greenhouse were developed and its validity was justified by actual data. From the analysis of experimentally measured and the simulation output, following results were obtained. 1. The expected values of inside air temperature for the greenhouse with a heat pump and a latent heat storage system were very much close to the experimental values at the error range of 1.0$\^{C}$. 2. The expected values of soil surface temperature fur the geenhouse with a heat pump and a latent heat storage system were very much close to the experimental values at the error range of 1.0$\^{C}$. 3. The expected values of thermal energy flow fur the greenhouse with a heat pump and a latent heat storage system were very much close to the experimental values at the error range of 167.2kJ/m$^2$h. 4. Heat lass value of day time was found to be larger than that of night time as much as 1.11 time. 5. At day time. the inside air temperature was shown to be higher than the set point of 7.0$\^{C}$. At night time, the inside air temperature was controlled in order to maintain higher temperatures than the set point.

  • In Korea, air source heat pump system is less efficient than conventional heat source facilities, such as ground source, river water, because the air temperature in winter season is so low that COP of air source heat pump system drops below 3.0. Therefore, the study on the application of heat pump heating and cooling systems is crucial for the efficient popularization of heat pump. In this work, we present the dynamic analysis of energy consumption for the large resident building by heat resistance-capacitance method. The system simulation of water storage air source heat pump is additionally performed by changing of sizes and locations of the hospital building. The computed results show that energy cost of water storage air source heat pump is low, so it is more economical than absorption chiller & heater.

  • The use of river water as a heat source of a heat pump has the advantage in the performance compared to the use of atmospheric air because the temperature variation of river water over the year is relatively small. In this study, the performance of the heat pump system using river water as a heat source was numerically investigated. A simulation model for the 2-stage compression heat pump system was developed with each component model composed of compressors, heat exchangers, a flash tank and electronic expansion devices. The peformance of the heat pump system using river water was improved by $50\%$ compared to that using atmospheric air in winter conditions.

  • Groundwater heat pump (GWHP) system has been expected to achieve the higher coefficient of performance (COP) and more energy-saving than the conventional air-source heat pump (ASHP) system. Its performance significantly depends on the characteristics of groundwater and the underground thermal properties. Furthermore, there is a large difference of COP in utilizing groundwater between as a heat resource and as a thermal storage medium. For properties of groundwater there is suitable utilizing system. However, many of GWHP systems have not been considered sufficiently such properties. This research describes optimization of GWHP system according to the properties of groundwater based on 3D numerical heat and water transport simulation.

  • The performance of a residential heating and cooling system with $CO_2$ is predicted by using a cycle simulation model. The simulations are conducted by varying design parameters and operating conditions. The efficiency of the transcritical cycle can be improved by utilizing the advantages in heat transfer characteristics of $CO_2$ and developing microchannel indoor and outdoor heat exchangers. For the designed system of this study, the predicted COP of the heat pump system is approximately 3.5 in the heating mode and 3.0 in the cooling mode. The predicted optimal discharge pressure for the heat pump system is approximately 11 MPa in the heating mode and 9 MPa in the cooling mode.

  • Ground source heat pump system can achieve high efficiency of performance by utilizing annually constant underground temperature to provide heat source for space heating and cooling. Generally, the depth of constant-temperature zone under the ground depends on surface heat flux and soil properties. The deeper the ground heat exchanger is installed, the higher the heat exchange rate can be acquired. However, in order to optimally design the system, it is necessary to consider both the installation cost and the system performance. In this study, performance analysis of ground source heat pump system according to the depth has been conducted through the case study.

  • A water source heat pump (WSHP) system is regarded as an energy-efficiency heating and cooling supply system for buildings due to its high energy efficiency and low greenhouse gas emissions. Recently, water sources such as river water, lake water, and raw water are attracting attention as heat sources for a heat pump system in Korea. This paper analyzed the applicability of a river water source heat pump system (RSHP). The river water temperature level was compared with the outdoor air and ground temperature levels to present applicability. In addition, the cooling and heating performance were compared through a simulation approach for the RSHP and a ground source heat pump (GSHP) applied to a large-scale office building. To compare the temperature level, the actual data were applied to the river water and the outdoor air, while the simulation results were applied to the ground circulation water. The results showed that the change in river water temperature throughout the year was similar to the change in outdoor air temperature. However, unlike the outdoor air temperature, the difference between the hourly and daily average river water temperatures was not large. The temperature level of river water was lower during the heating season and somewhat higher during the cooling season than that of the ground circulation water. Finally, the performance of the RSHP system was 13.4% lower than that of the GSHP system on an annual-based.

  • Geothermal heat pump (GHP) systems have been proved to be one of the most efficient systems for heating and cooling in buildings. However, an optimal energy performance depends on a good control of the system components, including heat pumps and circulation pumps, which affect to the total energy consumption of system. This paper presents the simulation results of the heat pump performance for two different control schemes, i.e. constant setting temperature (Control-A) and variable setting temperatures (Control-B) in buffer tank. A dynamic simulation tool, TRNSYS 17, was used to model the entire system and to assess the performance of the system. Simulation results show that the Control-B, which controls the temperature in buffer tank with outdoor air temperature, is a effective way to reduce the energy consumptions in heat pump (7.7%) and circulation pump (7.5%).

  • The first kind LiBr -$H_2O$ absorption heat pump system was simulated and the performances of it were predicted. The elements of heat pump system, evaporator, absorber and generator were analysed by solving the energy balance equations and concentration equations which describe the reactions between working fluids. The results show that the temperature gain of absorber and condenser and the COP of the system are affected considerably by the operating conditions of heat pump system.
