  • The refrigerator consists of many components such as compressor condenser expansion valve evaporator and the cabinet which filled by urethane foam. In this paper the heat leakage of refriger-ator is measured by the new experiment method which is different from a present method, The devi-ation of the UA(overall heat transfer coefficient times area) between the simulation and experiments is about 7-8%. Using the modeling of various components of refrigeration system a performance analysos of CFC 12 and HFC 134a is performed numerically on the UA. As the results of this study according to increase the heat leakage the refrigeration load and mass flow rate of refrigerant are increased. And the increase of the mass flow rate results in the increase of the condensing and evapo-rating temperature. Therefore according to increase of the heat leakage the COP leads to increase because the increase of refrigeration capacity is larger than the increase if compressor power.

  • Liquid desiccant material, such as lithium chloride (LiCl) or halide slits are usually used on air conditioning application for controlling the humidity of high Outdoor Air (OA). Solar energy is usually used to heat the liquid in regeneration process of those desiccant. The mass transfer it self is driven by the temperature different between the liquid desiccant and the input air. This experiment study is analyzing the characteristic of the aqueous LiCl-air temperature different in variance specific gravity, especially in range of temperature different using the solar energy as the heat generator. The experiment has done by variating the concentration of the LiCl with specific gravity 1.210 and 1.150. For the comparison the pure water is also used. The result show that the mass transfer rate is increased in every variation as the increases of the temperature different, and the weeker aqueous solution of the LiCl the highest mass transfer coefficient.

  • Experimental results for forced convection condensation of Refrigerant-22 and ternary Refrigerant-407C(HFC-32/125/134a 23/25/52 wt%) which is being considered as a substitute R-22 inside a horizontal micro-fin tube are presented. The test section was horizontal double-tube counterflow condenser with a length 4,000 mm micro-fin tube, having 8.53 mm ID, 0.2 mm fin height and 60 fins. The range of parameters of mass velocity were varied from 102.1 to 301.0 kg/(m2.s) and inlet quality 1.0. At the given experimental conditions. the average heat transfer coefficients for R-407C were lower than that for R-22 at a micro-fin tube. Over the mass velocity range tested. the PF(penalty factor) for R-22, R-407C were lower than the increasing ratio of heat transfer area by fins, and the EF(enhancement factor) for R-22, R-407C were higher than the increasing ratio of heat transfer area by fins.

  • This research was concerned with the enhancement of heat transfer by surfactant added to the aqueous solution of LiBr. Different vertical tubes were tested with and without an additive of normal octyl alcohol. The test tubes are a bare inner surface. a groove inner surface, a corrugated inner surface and a spring inserted inner surface tubes. The additive concentration was about 0.08 mass%. The heat transfer coefficient was measured as a function of the film Reynolds number in the range of 20~200. Experiments were carried out at higher cooling water temperature of $35^{\circ}C$ to simulate an air cooling condition for several kinds of absorber testing tubes. The experimental results were compared with and without surfactant. The enhancement of heat transfer by Marangoni convection effect which was generated by addition of the surfactant is observed in each test tube. Especially, it is clarified that the tube with an inserted spring has the highest enhancement effect.

  • The current research focuses on the development of a numerical approach to forecast strongly subcooled flow boiling of FC-72 as the refrigerant in various vertical minichannel shapes for high-heat-flux cooling applications. The simulations are carried out using the Volume of Fluid method with the Lee phase change model, which revealed some inherent flaws in multiphase flows that are primarily due to an insufficient interpretation of shearlift force on bubbles and conjugate heat transfer against the walls. A user-defined function (UDF) is used to provide specific information about this noticeable effect. The influence of shape and the inlet mass fluxes on the flow patterns, heat transfer, and pressure drop characteristics are discussed. The computational results are validated with experimental measurements, where excellent agreements are found that prove the efficiency of the present numerical model. The findings demonstrate that the heat transfer coefficient decreases as the mass flux increases and that the constriction design improves the thermal performance by 24.68% and 10.45% compared to the straight and expansion shapes, respectively. The periodic constriction sections ensure good mixing between the core and near-wall layers. In addition, a slight pressure drop penalty versus the thermal transfer benefits for the two configurations proposed is reported.

  • The present paper proposes a new correlation for the flow boiling heat transfer coefficients in the low flow rate condition (Re(sub)LF$\leq$200) within horizontal rectangular channels with small gaps (heights). The gap between the upper and the lower plates of each channel ranges from 0.4 to 2mm while the channel width being fixed to 20mm. Refrigerant 113 was used as the test fluid. The mass flux ranges from 50 to 200kg/㎡s and the channel walls were uniformly heated with the heat flux range of 3-15kW/㎡. The quality range covers from 0.19 to 0.76 and the flow pattern is considered to be annular. The measured heat transfer coefficients increase with the mass flux and the local quality; however the effect of the heat flux appears to be minor. At the low mass flux condition, which is more likely with the smaller gap size, the heat transfer is primarily controlled by the liquid film thickness. The proposed F factor for the heat transfer coefficient in the range of Re(sub)LF$\leq$200 well represents the experimental data within the deviation of $\pm$20%. The Kandlikars flow boiling correlation covers the higher flow-rate range(Re(sub)LF>200) within the deviation of $\pm$20%.

  • Evaporating heat transfer coefficients of R-22 and R-134a were measured in smooth horizontal copper tubes with inner diameters of 1.77, 3.36 and 5.35mm, respectively. The experiments were conducted in a closed loop, which was driven by a magnetic gear pump. Experiments were performed for the following range of variables: mass velocity (200 to 400 kg/$m^2$.s), saturation temperature($0^{circ}C,; 5^{\circ}C$) and quality(0 to 1.0). Main results obtained are as follows: evaporating heat transfer coefficients in the small diameter tubes (ID<7mm) were observed to be strongly affected by various diameters and to differ from those in the large diameter tubers. The heat transfer coefficients of the small diameter tubes were higher than those of the large diameter tubs. And it was very difficult to apply some well-known previous predictions (Shah`s, Gungor-Winterton`s and Kandlikar`s correlation) to small diameter tubes.

  • Air-solid bed has been known to be an effective heat transfer augmentation device which could be applied to heat exchangers. In this study, pressure drop and heat transfer characteristics of vertical annular fluidized bed heat exchanger with air flowing through were studied experimentally. The experiments was conducted to calculate overall heat transfer coefficient on fluidized bed heat exchangers immersed single vertical tube and investigate minimum fluidized velocity in fluidized bed of alumina beads and steel balls. The influence of flow direction, particle diameter, the heights of static bed and air mass fluidizing velocity has been examined. The experimental results showed the optimum operating condition and effective static bed height for fluidized bed heat exchangers. For the same power loss, comparisions of heat transfer effect between the fluidized bed heat exchanger and the single phase forced convetion heat exchanger indicate that both miniaturization of heat exchanger and heat transfer augmentation at low flow velocity are possible by application of the air-solid to heat exchangers.

  • Development of surface heating technology using hot jet impingement onto mold inner surface for improvement of pattern transcription. This study is focused on how to control the parameters related to hot jet impingement. The mass flow rate, the jet temperature and the duration of the impingement are major parameters. The nozzle design and other geometric configurations also affect the heat transfer to the surface. In terms of heat transfer analysis, the most important number is the heat transfer coefficient, which is influenced by the mass flow rate, nozzle design, distance between the nozzle tip and the surface. In summary, several parametric studies using the developed model are conducted to investigate the effects of mass flow rate, jet temperature and Heating Time in Surface heating technology using hot jet impingement onto mold.
