  • This study investigated the oral health knowledge and educational needs of adults by life cycle. We aimed to provide basic data for developing oral health education plans for well -aging. The survey was conducted online and through mobiles by Gallup Korea during February 2021. A total of 319 adults over the age of 19 were surveyed. The study aimed at investigating the general characteristics, the quality of life-related to oral health, knowledge of oral health, and the need for well-aging education. The PASW Statistics ver 18.0 statistical program was used for data analysis. The analysis of the data suggests that prevention was the highest priority among all age groups. Furthermore, there was a difference in the perceived educational need among different age groups. The cause of the youth, the treatment of the middle-aged and the elderly were significantly related to oral and systemic disease. The need for education related to oral diseases was ranked in the order of aches, bad breath, periodontal diseases, and tooth discoloration. For information, the subjects reached out to the internet, dental and medical institutions, and public health centers. The teaching methods experienced by those surveyed included lectures combined with experience, videos, and expert lectures. We believe that this study can be used to develop an education plan that reflects the needs of the subjects when conducting life cycle education for well-aging.

From the collected data, several dental health indices such as percentage of students of all population, percentage of students who visited dentists once or more during one year, average annual dentist visit and average annual dental treatment case were calculated and discussed. The obtained results were as follows; 1. The percentage of students of all population in Young dong-gun county was 29.65%. 2. The percentage of students who visited dentists once or more during one year was 4.67%. 3. The average annual dentist visit per student was 0.11. 4. The average annual dental treatment case per student was 0.16. 5. • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate differences of subjective, objective knowledge and educational need about contraceptives according to sex in college students. Methods: Data were collected by a self-administered questionnaire from 84 male and 111 female college students on May, 2008. PASW 18.0 program was used for data analysis. Results: There were significant differences in age, major, grade, place of residence, and experience of sexual intercourse between male and female college students. There was a significant difference in objective knowledge about contraceptives between the two groups, but no significant difference in subjective knowledge. The positive correlation was shown between subjective and objective knowledge about contraceptives. Even when demographic variables such as age, major, grade, place of residence, and experience of sexual intercourse were controlled, sex was a significant influencing factor on subjective and objective knowledge about contraceptives. Educational need about emergency contraceptive pills was significantly different and ranking of educational need about contraceptives was also different between the two groups. Conclusion: These results suggest that different education programs according to sex are needed to maximize the effect of contraceptive education and sexual characteristics are considered to give an education to college students.

The scores for the implemented group were significantly higher (t=7.26, p<.001). The scores in health promotion behavior for the implemented group was $4.26{\pm}0.41$ and was higher also compared with the scores for the non-implemented group $3.85{\pm}0.50$. The scores for the implemented group were significantly higher (t=3.43, p<.001). The implemented group showed higher health knowledge, health promotion behavior than the non-implemented group. Conclusion: Because systematic health education has significant positive effects on elementary student's health knowledge and health promotion behavior, school health teachers need to maintain and progress continuous systematic health education in their schools.

Objectives: This study was conducted to identify the principals' and teachers' needs and perceptions of health education topics for high school students and to analyze their conceptual map for health education curriculum in Korean high school. Methods: The sample size of the preliminary survey was 77 and that of the main survey was 276 who successfully participated in the survey among the high school teachers selected from the stratified sampling over Korea. The self-administered mailing survey was conducted to identify the factor structure of the health education topics and to analyze the conceptual properties with exploratory factor analysis and multidimensional scaling analysis in SPSS 12.0. Results: A total of 31 health education topics were generated from the preliminary survey. The five factors were determined: 'health promotion behavior and management', 'injury and sexual harassment prevention', 'bulling and aggression prevention', 'public regularity and safety perception' and 'smoking and drinking prevention'. The mean score of health education needs was between medium to high and 'public regularity and safety perception' had the highest score of education need. The two-dimensional cooperates were generated for the 31 health education topics and the two dimensional properties which divided the conceptual space were 'disease-injury' for one and 'public/environmental/individual/personal' for the other. Conclusions: Health education curriculum and its textbook should be developed considering teachers' needs and field environments for health education in every school. Therefore developing field-based health education curriculum and the textbooks should be the essential key to realize problem-solving health education for youth in real school fields.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify community health practitioners' (CHP) perception of barriers to research utilization, current status and competence in evidence-based practice (EBP). Methods: From all over the country, 126 CHP completed an e-mail survey. Results: The items with the highest barrier scores were that it is difficult to understand articles written in English and physicians will not cooperate with implementation. There were statistically significant differences in the scores for attitude toward EBP and knowledge in EBP by education level and nursing academic society membership status. When faced with a problem, the nurses usually use related regulations or asked a colleague for advice. Conclusion: Results indicate an awareness of the necessity of applying EBP, need to improve readiness to use EBP voluntarily and actively, and need to search for various factors that are barriers to research utilization. There is a need to develop and apply EBP training/education programs to find new evidence that might actually support previous practice for which nurses lack confidence. Guidelines that consider CHP task characteristics and barrier factors to research utilization should be developed.
