In this study, the velocity distribution and pressure of the flow with the shape of the aircraft were analyzed to investigate its flight performance. In order to compare the flow rate and its pressure applied on the surface of airplane each other, models A and B have the blunt and sharp shapes as the distinctive shapes of airplanes. It can be inferred that the lower the maximum speed of the flow around the airplane, the less resistance the navigation produces, the less fuel consumption, which is more efficient for the sharp model B than the blunt model A. As the result of this study, the wing area and the head part of the body should be designed to withstand the pressure greater than the body. It is shown that the sharp model B can withstand more pressure due to flow than the blunt model A.
PURPOSE. The aims of the study were to evaluate the fracture load of zirconia core material after dipping in coloring liquid at different time intervals and to compare the color of dipped blocks with that of prefabricated shaded blocks. MATERIALS AND METHODS. 3-unit bridge frameworks were designed digitally. Sixty frameworks were fabricated using uncolored zirconia blocks by CAD/CAM and divided into 4 groups randomly (n = 15). Group 2 (G2) was subjected to coloring liquids for 2 minutes, Group 4 (G4) for 4 minutes, and Group 6 (G6) for 6 minutes. CFS group was not subjected to any coloring procedure. After coloring, color differences between the test groups and a prefabricated shaded zirconia group (CPZ, n = 15) were evaluated by using a spectrophotometer. Fracture test was conducted immediately after shade evaluation with a Testometric test device at a cross-head speed of 1 mm/sec. Statistical analysis for evaluating color and fracture load was performed by using one way ANOVA followed by Tukey HSD test ($P{\leq}.05$). Weibull analysis was conducted for distribution of fracture load. RESULTS. There was no difference in terms of fracture load and color between CFS (1176.681 N) and G2 (985.638 N) group and between CPZ (81.340) and G2 (81.140) group, respectively. Fracture load values of G4 (779.340 N) and G6 (935.491 N) groups were statistically significantly lower than that of CFS group ($P{\leq}.005$). The color values of G4 (79.340) and G6 (79.673) groups were statistically different than that of CPZ group ($P{\leq}.005$). CONCLUSION. Prolonged immersion of zirconia in coloring liquid not only negatively affected the fracture load of the zirconia being tested in the current study but also deteriorated the desired shade of the restoration.

The dielectric breakdown of bone-like materials subject to purely electric fields is investigated. In general, these materials consist of some layers with stronger dielectric strength and others with weaker dielectric strength in a parallel staggered pattern. The growth of the conductive channel is impeded during penetration of the weaker layer in the bone-like material because the electric-field concentration is relieved. The electric-field distribution around the head of the tubular channel is obtained from finite element analysis. The dielectric strength of the bone-like material is evaluated using the J integral, and some parameters affecting the dielectric strength are determined. It is shown that the J-integral values are reduced with an increase in the breakdown area in the weaker layer. It is also found that the ratio of the permittivity of the weaker layer to that of the stronger layer can strongly affect the dielectric breakdown.

The flow characteristics in the shallow open channel bends are investigated, whose total angles were 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 and 180 in degree, and whose bed frictions were relatively rough(C=30) and smooth(C=60), respectively. The terms analyzed in this study are the water surface profile, the distribution of velocity and the flow direction, relating to the various total angles in the bends. The maximum depth in the bends could be found at the outside section of the location of $15^{\circ}$ local angle from the bend inlet, having no relation to the total angle and bed friction. It is supposed that the path of maximum velocities is especially influenced by the bottom friction when the total angles are bigger than 150 in degree, approximately. The ratio of the superelevation to the velocity head seems to increase as the total angle of the bends increases. The flow direction is skewed to the inner side at the bend inlet, and skewed to the outside at the bend outlet, regardless of their total angles.

The spinal cord dose is the one of the limiting factor for the radiation treatment of the head & neck (H&N) or the thorax region. Due to the fact that the cord is the elongated shaped structure, it is not an easy task to maintain the cord dose within the clinically acceptable dose range. To overcome this problem, the spinal cord partial block technique (PBT) with the dynamic Multi-Leaf Collimator (dMLC) has been developed. Three dimension (3D) conformal beam directions, which minimize the coverage of the normal organs such as the lung and the parotid gland, were chosen. The PBT field shape for each field was designed to shield the spinal cord with the dMLC. The transmission factors were determined by the forward calculation method. The plan comparisons between the conventional 3D conformal therapy plan and the PTB plan were performed to evaluate the validity of this technique. The conformity index (CI) and the dose volume histogram (DVH) were used as the plan comparison indices. A series of quality assurance (QA) was performed to guarantee the reliable treatment. The QA consisted of the film dosimetry for the verification of the dose distribution and the point measurements. The PBT plan always generated better results than the conventional 3D conformal plan. The PBT was proved to be useful for the H&N and thorax region.
One hundred & seventy four consecutive free-flap transfers were reviewed to analyze distribution of the type of reconstructions, kinds of donor flaps as well incidence of complications. The role of emergent exploration and the effect of preoperative wound conditions in flap survival were evaluated. Free flap transfer for head and neck reconstruction was most common as 93 cases, followed by for upper extremity of 30 cases, for lower extremity 30 cases, 18 penile reconstructions and for trunk & breast 3 cases. Nine flaps exhibited signs of ciruclatory insufficiency between 5 hours and 7 days. Three were managed conservatively with ultimate partial necrosis of the flaps. Eight flaps required return to the operating room. On exploration, early arterial occlusion was revealed in 1 flap, late arterial occlusion in 2 flaps, early venous occlusion in 1 flap, late venous thrombosis in 2 flaps, prolonged venous spasm in 1 and hematoma in 1 flap. The average time from the first abnormal examination to exploration was 2.6 hours. There were no false-positive explorations. Four free flaps failed in spite of the correction of the cause of circulatory compromise. The remaining 4 flaps were salvaged following the correction the casuse. Recipient vessel problems such as irradiation and infection were the most common cause of circulatory crisis. Among the eight flaps requiring return to the operating room, single vein was anastomosed in three flaps and two veins in the remaining five. In the totally failed four flaps only single vein was anastomosed in three cases. The results of this study demonstrate the efficacy of clinical monitoring and the role of early exploration. Precautious selection of recipient vessels and two vein anastomosis are recommended for safe and better prognosis.

Lung cancer seriously threatens human health, so it is important to investigate gene expression changes in affected individuals in comparison with healthy people. Here we compared the gene expression profiles between smokers with and without lung cancer. We found that the majority of the expressed genes (threshold was set as 0.1 RPKM) were the same in the two samples, with a small portion of the remainder being unique to smokers with and without lung cancer. Expression distribution patterns showed that most of the genes in smokers with and without lung cancer are expressed at low or moderate levels. We also found that the expression levels of the genes in smokers with lung cancer were lower than in smokers without lung cancer in general. Then we detected 27 differentially expressed genes in smokers with versus without lung cancer, and these differentially expressed genes were foudn to be involved in diverse processes. Our study provided detail expression profiles and expression changes between smokers with and without lung cancer.

This paper proposes an algorithm that forms the clusters on the basis of hop distance in order to improve the actor coverage and connectivity in the sink-based wireless sensor and actor networks. The proposed algorithm forms the clusters that are distributed evenly in the target area by electing the CHs(Cluster Heads) at regular hop intervals from a sink. The CHs are elected sequentially from the sink in order to ensure the connectivity between the sink and the actors that are located on the CHs. Additionally, the electing are achieved from the area of the higher rate of the sensors density in order to improve the actor coverage. The number of clusters that are created in the target area and the number of the actors that are placed on the positions of the CHs are reduced by forming the clusters with regular distribution and minimizing the overlap of them through the proposed algorithm. Simulations are performed to verify that the proposed algorithm constructs the actor network that is connected to the sink. Moreover, we shows that the proposed algorithm improves the actor coverage and, therefore, reduces the amount of the actors that will be deployed in the region by 9~20% compared to the IDSC algorithm.

Three specimens (56.7~92.4 mm in standard length) of the small psychrolutid Psychrolutes pustulosus (Schmidt, 1937) were collected by bottom trawl in the coastal waters off Pohang, the southern East Sea, Korea. This species is characterized by large cephalic pores, no markings on the body or fins, no spines on the head, and no notch between the spiny and soft-rayed dorsal fin. We describe specimens the southernmost distribution in the world, and compare them with two congeneric species from Russia. We thus present the first record of Psychrolutes pustulosus (Schmidt, 1937) within the Korean fish fauna and propose the new Korean name "Min-mu-nui-mul-su-bae-gi" for this species.
