For the downlink energy-harvesting small cell network, this paper proposes an interference management algorithm based on distributed coalitional game. The cooperative interference management problem of the energy-harvesting small cells is modeled as a coalitional game with transfer utility. Based on the energy harvesting strategy of the small cells, the time sharing mode of the small cells in the same coalition is determined, and an optimization model is constructed to maximize the total system rate of the energy-harvesting small cells. Using the distributed algorithm for coalition formation proposed in this paper, the stable coalition structure, optimal time sharing strategy and optimal power distribution are found to maximize the total utility of the small cell system. The performance of the proposed algorithm is discussed and analyzed finally, and it is proved that this algorithm can converge to a stable coalition structure with reasonable complexity. The simulations show that the total system rate of the proposed algorithm is superior to that of the non-cooperative algorithm in the case of dense deployment of small cells, and the proposed algorithm can converge quickly.
Recent research on energy harvesting wireless sensor networks focuses on the development of techniques to solve the limited energy resource problem and to extend the whole network life efficiently. Energy harvesting technology can increase the lifetime of a network, but data transmission becomes unavailable when it harvests energy from radio frequency, resulting longer network delay with respect to the increased time in energy harvesting. Therefore, building energy harvesting wireless sensor network should consider the possible network delay as well as the network lifetime problem. In this paper, we propose a new MAC protocol that minimizes end-to-end network delay by adjusting the data transmission time for a packet based on estimating the energy for data transmission along with the amount of traffic flowing into the network and harvested energy. For this goal, it engineers an energy management mechanism that adjusts the sleep time of the network by measuring energy harvesting time. In addition, with simulation results it shows that the proposed MAC protocol improves the performance in terms of energy consumption and end-to-end delay, compared to the existing MAC protocols.

Energy harvesting from environment can make the energy constrained systems such as sensor networks to sustain their lifetimes. However, environmental energy is highly variable with time, location, and other factors. Unlike the existing solutions, we solved this problem by allowing the sensor nodes with mobilizer to move in search of energy and recharge from remote energy station. In this paper we present and analyze a new harvesting aware framework for mobile sensor networks with remote energy station. The framework consists of energy model, motion control system and data transfer protocol. Among them, the objective of our data transfer protocol is to route a data packet geographically towards the target region and at the same time balance the residual energy and the link connectivity on nodes with energy harvesting. Our results along with simulation can be used for further studies and provide certain guideline for realistic development of such systems.
In this study, Mg-Sericite was used as a flocculant to harvest freshwater microalgae, Chlorella. vulgaris. Mg-Sericite separated successfully >95% of the C. vulgaris at the following optimal parameters: Mg/Si mol ratio 1.25 to 1.50, mixing time of 20 min and settling time of 20 min. The harvesting efficiency was pH dependent. The highest harvesting efficiency ($99{\pm}0.3%$) was obtained at Mg/Si mol ratio 1.5 and pH 9 to 11. These results indicated that a biopolymer, Mg-Sericite, can be a promising flocculant due to its high efficiency, low dose requirements, short mixing and settling times. This harvesting method is helpful to lower the production cost of algae for biodiesel.

The study was conducted to find out the harvesting time, storage duration, cold treatment and sterilization on seed germination of Miscanthus sinensis. The optimum harvesting time of the Miscanthus seed in native to Jeju island was December. And the seed germination passible 3 years after harvesting. When the seeds had cold treatment, seed germination nate was 74% rather than 63% of non-treatment. For seed sterilization treatment, soaking in solution of Benomyl 7% during from 3 hours to 12 hours germinated 9% over. But the non-treatment on 24 hours treatment reduced the seed germination of Miscanthus sinensis.

Various piezoelectric nanostructures have been extensively studied for competitive energy harvesting applications. Here, GaN nanowires grown by a nonconventional magnetic field-assisted chemical vapor deposition process were investigated to characterize the piezoelectric energy harvesting characteristics. As a controlling parameter, only the growth time was changed from 15 min to 90 min to obtain different crystallinity and morphology of the nanowires. Energy harvesting characteristics were found to depend largely on the growth time. A longer growth time tended to lead to an increased output current, which is reasonable when considering the enhanced charge potentials and crystallinity. A maximum output current of ~14.1 nA was obtained for the 90 min-processed nanowires.
BACKGROUND: As consumption of unripe mandarin increases, its cultivation has increased in open field cultivation areas. Because unripe mandarin must be harvested before ripening and color change, the optimum harvest time must be determined. This study investigated the effect of the harvest season on the yield of unripe fruit and biennial flowering of 'Miyagawa' satsuma mandarin. METHODS AND RESULTS: Two areas of unripe mandarin orchard were selected, and the yield, fruit growth, working time, and flowering of trees the following year were investigated. Fruit was harvested at 40, 60, 80, 100, and 120 days after full bloom and at general ripening. Fruit yield of unripe mandarin increased with later harvest time from 100th to 120th day except normal ripening. The next year, biennial occurred with normal ripening and harvesting, but not at the 120th day after full bloom. At the 40th day (earliest harvest time), summer and autumn shoots were present, but not after the 100th day. The 40th day required the most harvesting time; because the time gradually decreased with later harvest, the harvest time was shortest on the 120th day, and general ripening occurred shortly after the 120th day. CONCLUSION: Harvesting of unripe mandarin 100-120 days after full bloom was ideal to reduce harvesting time, enhance yield, and enable flowering the following year.

In order to reduce the loss of perilla seeds at harvesting stage, different seeding methods and harvesting time had been applied to upland soil in NICS (National Institute of Crop Science), RDA, Milyang, Korea. The seeding methods were divided into hill and drill seeding, and harvesting time were 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100% color-changing of top cluster perilla (cv Deulsaem) seeds. Higher plant height and lowest flower cluster, thinner culm thickness was observed in drill seeding treated plot than hill seeding treated plot. However, field lodging occurred lower at drill seeding treatment (lodging degree 3) than hill seeding plot (lodging degree 5). Harvesting time affected the loss of perilla seeds and the loss rate of perilla seeds were investigated at different color-changing of top flower cluster. When seeds were harvested at 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100% color-changing of top cluster perilla seeds, the loss rate of hill and drill seeding showed no significant differences however the loss rated of 40, 60, 80, and 100 % color-changing of top flower cluster were 1.9% to 3.0%, 3.8% to 3.9%, 8.0% to 10.2%, and 16.1% to 22.7%, respectively. The harvesting time had no significant effects on the yield of perilla seeds. These results suggest that optimum harvesting time of perilla could be recommend at the 60% color-changing of top cluster to reduce the loss of perilla seeds.

The effect of harvesting time on the growth, marketable tuber yield, and tuber quality of spring potato (Solanum tuberosum L. cv. Dami) were analyzed in the southern paddy fields in order to determine the optimal harvesting time. At 30-50 days after flowering, the total and marketable tuber yields of spring potato reached their maxima and commercial tuber rate was also high. External defects such as tuber malformation or crack did not occur until 40 days after flowering, but after that, secondary growth such as shooting appeared. Among the nutrient compositions of tubers, carbohydrate content accounted for more than 60% of tuber dry weight without significant difference among harvesting times until 50 days after flowering. The crude protein content decreased slightly as the harvesting time was delayed. However, the mineral nutrient content of tubers decreased with delaying harvesting time and was lowest at 30-40 days after flowering. Therefore, the optimal harvesting time of spring potato was judged to be 30-40 days after flowering, when marketable tuber size and quality were great as less affected by high temperature or waterlogging under natural environmental conditions.

Harvesting energy from the environment is essential for many applications to slow down the deterioration of energy of the devices in sensor networks and in general, the network itself. Energy from the environment is an inexhaustible supply which, if properly managed and harvested from the sources, can allow the system to last for a longer period - more than the expected lifetime at the time of deployment, or even last indefinitely. The goal of this study is to develop a simple algorithm for ns-2 to simulate energy harvesting in wireless sensor network simulations. The algorithm is implemented in the energy module of the simulator. Energy harvesting algorithms have not yet been developed for ns-2. This study will greatly contribute to the existing knowledge of simulating wireless sensor networks with energy harvesting capabilities in ns-2. This paper will also serve as a basis for future research papers that make use of energy harvesting.
