  • The napuliar stages of Harpaciticus nipponicus Ito reared in the laboratory are descirbed and illustrated in detail. Ovigerous females of h. nipponicus were collected from the intertidal zone of Kuryongpo Yougil-gun Kyongangbuk-do. Korea. This species passed through 6 naupilar stages before metamorphosis to the first copepodid stage. At $20^{\circ}C$, the first copepo양 stage was attained in 6-8 (mean 7 ) days after hatching. The nauplii of Harpacticus species can be distinguished from those of other Harpacticid genera by the maxillule, pereiopods, and caudal setae. The nauplii of h. nipponicus are similiar in morphology to those of H. uniremis but distinguished by the differences in naupliar size and appendage setation. A key to identify the naupliar stages of this speices is briefly discussed.

  • The family Ameiridae Boeck, 1865 (Copepoda; Harpacticoida) consists of about 380 species in 47 genera, but only 10 species have been reported in Korea. A benthic ameirid species was collected from the East Sea of Korea. Specimens were identified as members of the genus Ameiropsis Sars G.O., 1907, and this is the first record of the genus Ameiropsis in the Pacific Ocean. Ameiropsis gyeongjuensis sp. nov. is morphologically similar to A. mixta Sars G.O., 1907 and A. longicornis Sars G.O., 1907 from Norway. However, the new species is clearly distinguishable from the others based on the following morphological characteristics: the proximal segment of antennary exopod with a bulge in the middle, and with one pinnate seta; the distal segment of antennary exopod with a thickened, blade-shaped outer seta; and female P5 baseoendopod with five setae and exopod with six setae. An identification key to species is provided for the 11 valid species of the genus Ameiropsis.

  • As one of the serial studies on the taxonomy of Conthocamptus mirabilis species group in South Korea, C. semicirculus Kikuchi, widely distributed in the southern part of the Far East, and C. coreensis n. sp. from the middle west of South Korea are recorded. Intraspecific variability of some important characters like outer caudal setae and the spinous process of male leg 3 exopod was examined in Korean population of C. semicirculus. Canthocamptus coreensis n. sp. possesses the plesiomorphic characters of the round and narrow hyaline membrane of anal operculum and lacking the sexual reverse transformation in female caudal rami, while it also evolves the apomorphic ones of the modified outer apical setae of male leg 4 exopod and the spinous process of male leg 3 exopod. A key to the five species of the species group known from Korea is prepared.
