A new species belonging to genus Harpacticella of Harpacticidae , collected from the Tamjin River and the Smjin River draining into the Korean Straits, is described and illustrated under the name of Harpacticella itoi. The present species is different from the other 5 congeners by the armatures of exopodites of female and male leg 5.

A taxonomic study on the genera Phyllognathopus and Harpacticella has been accomplished as one of the serial researches on the freshwater harpacticoids in South Korea. As a result, four species belonging to the genera are clarified, three of which are new to Korean fauna: P. viguieri (Maupas), P. paludosus Mrazek, and H. paradoxa (Brehm).

Eight harpacticoid species of family Harpacticidae, collected from 47 locations of Korea, are identified. The five species newly reported from Korea, are redescribed and illustrated: Harpacticus nipponicus, Ito, H. compsonyx Monard, Harpacticella oceanica Ito, Zaus robustus Ito, Z. unisetosus Ito.
