To effective a watershed management, it is necessary to have one or more quantitative measures that can be used to evaluate the relationship between pollutant sources and their impact on water quality. Such measurable quantities are termed indicators. Once an indicator has been selected, a target value for that indicator must be established that seek to distinguish between the impaired and unimpaired state of the waterbody. Various factors will be considered for the selection of an appropriate watershed management indicator. For example, available data, application, management conditions, cost, etc. This paper lists various factors that should be addressed in choosing a watershed management indicators and investigates applicable indicators during watershed management period.

The occurrence of human norovirus (NoV) genogroup I (GI) and genogroup II (GII) strains was investigated in Korea. Between 2007 and 2010, 265 samples were collected from 89 Korean water source locations. NoV GI was detected in 4.5% and NoV GII in 1.5%. Samples collected in winter had the highest occurrence; 9.4% for NoV GI and 6.3% for NoV GII. NoV GI detection was highest in groundwater, with the next highest in river water and the lowest in lake water (5.9%, 5.4%, and 1.6%, respectively), and NoV GII was found only in river water. When three representative Korean basin systems (Han (H)-, Geum/Seom (G/S)-, and Nakdong (N)-river basins) were compared, both NoV genogroups were high in the G/S-, but absent in the H- river basin. The most prevalent genotypes within the GI and GII groups were GI.5 and GII.4, respectively. The NoVs found in surface water were identical to those found in patients and those found in groundwater. The NoVs appeared to be transmitted from the patient to the surface water, and then to the groundwater, suggesting a fecal-oral route of transmission. This is the first nationwide surveillance of NoV in major Korean water sources.
In order to prevent secondary pollution of tap water, corrosion characteristics are investigated, and corrosion index are calculated using LI and LR to manage corrosiveness. As targeted water treatment plants from 2014 (July, once) to 2015 (July and October, 2 times), 70 plants are selected by making a division for each area and water system. (treated water samples, n=240, raw water samples, n=72). In result of pH analysis, treated water was lower than raw water to 7.12, and 7.29, respectively. LI were investigated in the order of Seomjin river, Nakdong river, Han river, Geum river, to -2.08, -1.24, -1.11, -1.10 (at raw water), and -2.18, -1.59, -1.51, -1.35 (at treated water), respectively. In case of water quality goal value (LI = -1) in Japan as control of corrosiveness, management object was investigated about 83.3%.
A procedure based on liquid liquid extraction(LLE)-GC/MS has been developed for the simultaneous analysis of antioxidants and insecticides known as endocrine disrupters. The endocrine disrupters investigated in this study are butylated hydroxy anisole(BHA) and butylated hydroxy toluene(BHT), and the insecticides are allethrin and fenvalerate. The limit of detection(LOD) was 0.071~0.159 ng/ml with RSD of 1.41~5.34% for the standard sample. From water reservior of Han river, Geum river, Nakdong river and Sumjin river, these compounds were not detected. For the synthesized sample, the LOD is 0.051~0.132 ng/ml with RSD of 6.39~13.4%.
In this study, the effectiveness of existing streamflow data collection networks in the Han and the Nakdong River Basin is evaluated for various gaging plans of 5, 10, 15 and 20years planning horizons by the nonlinear integer programming method, and also a technique for adjustment and planning of the existing network is provided for the purpose of increasing the efficiency of the network in terms of ecomony. The objective function is minimization of the average sampling mean square error of regional regression model with regression parameters estimated by generalized least squares method.
The distribution status and habitat characteristics of the endangered species, Lethenteron reissneri were investigated in 2011~2012 in Korea. During the study period, L. reissneri were collected 60 stations among 755 sampling stations investigated. The total numbers of ammocoetes and adults were 208 and 435, respectively from eight stations of the Han River drainage system, four stations of Geum River drainage system, 32 stations of Seomjin and Yeongsan River drainage systems, and 16 stations of Nakdong River drainage system. The Han and Geum river drainage systems, the Sapkyo Stream and independent streams running toward the East Sea were estimated to have suffered sudden reductions of population density, whereas the Seomjin River drainage system showed increased population density compared with historic occurrence records. L. reissneri inhabited the middle-upper stream of clean water with well-developed rapids and lots of aquatic organisms. According to IUCN Red List categories and criteria L. reissneri was assessed to be vulnerable (VU) [B2ab (ii,iii,iv,v);D1] because of the rapid reduction of the occupying areas and the small number of mature individuals. Besides the distribution status and habitat characteristics we discussed the conservation strategies of L. reissneri.

Although long-term runoff analysis is important as much as flood analysis in the design of water works, the technological level of the former is relatively lower than that of the latter. In this respect, the precise estimation model for the volume of successive runoff should he developed as soon as possible. Up to now, in Korea, Gajiyama's formula has been widely used in long-term runoff analysis, which has many problems in applying in real situation. On the other hand, in flood analysis, unit hydrograph method has been exclusively used. Therefore, this study aims at trying to apply unit hydrograph method in long-term runoff analysis for the betterment of its estimation. Four test catchment areas were selected ; Maesan area in Namlum river as a representative area of Han river system, Cheongju area in Musim river as one of Geum river system, Hwasun area in Hwasun river as one of Yongsan river system, and Supyung area in Geum river as one of Nakdong river system. In the analysis of unit hydrograph, seperation of effective rainfall was carried out firstly. Considering that effective rainfall and moisture condition of catchrnent area are inside and outside of a phenomenon respectively and the latter is not considered in the analysis, Initial base flow(qb)was selected as an index of moisture condition. At the same time, basic equation(Eq.7) was established, in which qb can take a role as a parameter in relating between cumulative rainfall(P) and cumulative loss of rainfall(Ld). Based on the above equation, computer program for estimation model of qbwas seperately developed according to the range of qb, Developed model was applied to measured hydrographs and hyetographs for total 10 years in 4 test areas and effective rainfall was estimated. Estimation precision of model was checked as shown in Tab- 6 and Fig.8. In the next stage, based on the estimated effective rainfall(R) and runoff(Qd), a runoff distribution ratio was calculated for each teat area using by computerised least square method and used in making unit hydrographs in each test area. Significance of induced hydrographs was tested by checking the relative errors between estimated and measured runoff volume(Tab-9, 10). According to the results, runoff estimation error by unit hydrograph itself was merely 2 or 3 %, but other 2 or 3 % of error proved to be transferred error in the seperation of effective rainfall. In this study, special attentioning point is that, in spite of different river systems and forest conditions of test areas, standardized unit hydrographs for them have very similar curve shape, which can be explained by having similar catchinent characteristics such as stream length, catchinent area, slope, and vegetation intensity. That fact should be treated as important factor ingeneralization of unit hydrograph method.

Due to abnormal climate phenomena and climate change in Korea, overgrowth of algae in rivers and reservoirs occurs frequently. Algae in rivers are classified into green algae, blue-green algae, diatom, and other types, and some species of blue-green algae cause problems due to odor and the discharge of toxic substances. In Korea, an algae alert system is in place, and it is issued based on the number of harmful blue-green algae cells. Thus, measuring harmful blue-green algal blooms is very important, and currently, the analysis method of algae involves taking field samples and determining the cell count of green algae, blue-green algae, and diatoms through algal microscopy, which takes a lot of time. Recently, the analysis of algae concentration through Phycocyanin, an alternative indicator for the number of harmful algae cells, has been conducted through remote sensing. However, research on the analysis of the number of blue-green algae cells is currently insufficient. In this study, we water samples for algal analyses were collected from river and counted the number of blue-green algae cells using algae microscopy. We also obtained the Phycocyanin concentration using an optical sensor and acquired algae spectra through a hyperspectral sensor. Based on this, we calculated the equation for estimating blue-green algae cell counts and estimated the number of blue-green algae cells.

This study analyzed the differences of mean basin precipitation between TM and radar based on the 51 standard basins in Han river and Nakdong river when large scale of heavy rains occurred in 2018. The result shows that the differences between radar and TM are -65.05 ~ 26.09% and -82.00 ~ 3.80% for accumulated and 10 min. maximum mean basin precipitation, respectively. The correlation analysis between the differences of estimated mean basin precipitation and basin characteristics such as average altitude of basin, area of basin, and shape factor of basin presents that there is no clear correlation between them. And the differences of point precipitation also shows the similar tendency with those of mean basin precipitation. In order to find out the correlation between them and meteorological conditions such as rainfall patterns, the reflectivity of radars according to the observation angles is analyzed at the selected basins, and then it is found that the differences of mean basin precipitation between TM and radar is more dominated by the meteorological conditions than by the topographic conditions such as basin characteristics.
We described a spatial distribution pattern and floral diversity on the Paspalum distichum community occurring at the ecological parks of Hwamyeong, Daejeo, Samnak, and Maekdo in the Nakdong river estuary. A total distribution area of P. distichum community was $303,462.6m^2$. Its largest area was found in Samnak eco-park ($185,910.1m^2$). The most richness of knotgrass patches in each ecological park was determined Maekdo eco-park (87). Cover class level-5 shows the largest area ($260,663.2m^2$). A total of 73 taxa (34 families, 55 genus, 65 species, and 8 varieties) were listed up on the P. distichum community. A welldeveloped population of knotgrass was found predominantly at sites linked into human impacts at the riverine floodplain, the stream courses flowing through the parks, and the man-made channels and wetlands. Finally we proposed an ecological management strategy for knotgrass population in the study area.
