X선 프렉토그래피기법을 이용한 금속복합재료의 피로손상 해석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Evaluation Technique of Damage of Metal Matrix Composite Using X-Ray Fractography Method)

  • 본 연구에서는 비파괴방법중 대단히 효과적인 방법이라 할 수 있는 X선 프렉토그래피 방법을 이용하여 파괴역학적 파라메타인 ${\Delta}K$, $K_{max}$의 정량적인 평가의 가능성에 대하여 검토하였다. 이를 위하여 A12009-15v/o $SiC_w$ 복합재료와 SS41 불림재를 이용하여 피로균열진전시험을 실시하고 그 결과로부터 파면상의 X선 프렉토그래피 파라메타와 파면형성시의 파괴역학적 파라메타를 비교 검토하여 X선 프렉토그래피에 의한 ${\Delta}K$$K_{max}$의 평가 방법에 대하여 연구하였다. 또한, 정적하중부하에 의한 소성변형률의 비파괴적 평가법에 대하여도 검토하였다. 이를 위하여 인장시험으로 소성변형을 부하한 후, X선 프렉토그래피 파라메타를 이용하여 부하된 소성변형량의 비파괴평가법에 대하여 검토하였다. 그 결과 피로파괴시의 부하된 $K_{max}$와 피로손상 정도를 X선 프렉토그래피에 의하여 정량적으로 평가할 수 있는 방법을 제시하였다.

  • It is important to evaluate fatigue damage of in-service material in respect to assure safety and remaining fatigue life in structure and mechanical components under cyclic load . Fatigue damage is represented by mathematical modelling with crack growth rate da/dN and cycle ration N/Nf and is detected by X-ray diffraction and ultrasonic wave method etc. But this is estimated generally by single parameter but influenced by many test conditions The characteristics of it indicates fatigue damage has complex fracture mechanism. Therefore, in this study we propose that back-propagation neural networks on the basis of ration of X-ray half-value breath B/Bo, fractal dimension Df and fracture mechanical parameters can construct artificial intelligent networks estimating crack growth rate da/dN and cycle ratio N/Nf without regard to stress amplitude Δ $\sigma$.

  • 본 연구에서는 SS41 불림재와 M.E.F. 복합 조직강에 대해서 파괴 역학 파라미터와 X-선 파라미터 사이의 관계를 규명하였다. 피로 균열 진전 실험이 수행되었고, X-선 회절 방법이 피로 파단면에 적용되었다. 피로 파단면을 순차적으로 전해 연마하면서 깊이에 따른 X-선 파라미터(잔류응력, 반가폭)의 변화를 관찰하였다. 최대 소성역 깊이 $w_y$는 SS41 불림재에서는 반가폭의 분포로, M.E.F. 복합 조직강에 대해서는 잔류 응력의 분포로 결정할 수 있었다. 피로 파단면의 깊이 방향에 따른 X-선 파라미터의 분포로부터 $K_{max}$$w_y$의 관계식이 실험 데이타로부터 얻어지고, 이 식들으로부터 $K_{max}$$w_y$의 측정에 의하여 추정되어질 수 있다.

  • Evaluation of rolling contact fatigue damage as well as material development for roll of rolling mill is being studied until quite recently. In this paper, a focus has been imposed on evaluating the rolling contact fatigue damage. In order for this, the accumulating process of rolling contact damage using the ferritic, pearlitic and bainitic DCI has been analyzed by X-ray diffraction technique. The main finds are; 1) The graphite in DCI is considered to be a cause of interfering in the redistribution of stress. Eventually, it results in the branching of crack. 2) The evaluation of rolling contact fatigue damage can be estimated in terms of the change of residual stress and/or a half-value breadth on surface during rolling contact.

철강재료의 구름마찰시에 발생하는 마모형태에 관한 연구 (Discussion on Wear Ope of Steel in Rolling Friction)

  • It has been cleared in previous author's paper that the fatigue life before the pitting on the rolling contact surface with lubricant are influenced by the wear amount. In this study, the wear type has been clarified when wear amount is extremely large such as the case without lubricant. The test of rolling contact fatigue has been conducted under two different of herzian pressures and three different of slide ratios without lubricant. In addition, residual stress and half-value breadth using X-ray diffraction on worn surface have been measured as well as the wear amount. The results show that the pitting type wear by rolling contact fatigue has not been occurred when the wear amount is considerably large. Thus this type of wear has been deduced by the fatigue wear depending on delamination theory.

구름 접촉피로에 미치는 압혼의 영향 (The Influence of Indentation on Rolling Contact Fatigue)

  • Most of the results of recent research for the influence of indentation on rolling contact fatigue has been carried out with high strength material under the point contact. The plastic lug around the indent also has been known as a source of stress concentration. This study is undertaken to analyze the influence of indentation on rolling contact fatigue with low strength material under the line contact. The results in this study show that the plastic flow around indentation by rolling friction has a major influence, differed from the results of high strength material. And the change of residual stress and half-value breadth measured to the failure by X-ray diffraction can be identified to predict the rolling contact fatigue life of indented materials.

  • To estimate crack growth rate and cycle ratio uniquely, many investigators have developed various kinds of mechanical parameters and theories. But, these have produced local solution space through single parameter. Neural Networks can perform pattern classification using several input and output parameters. Fatigue damage model by neural networks was used to recognize the relation between da/dN N/Nf, and half-value breadth ratio B/BO0, fractal dimension Df and fracture mechanical parameters in 2024-T3 ability to predict both crack growth rate da/dN and cycle ratio N/Nf within engineering estimated mean error (5%).

X-선 회절을 이용한 피로하중을 받는 일반구조용강의 잔류응력에 관한 연구 (A Study on Residual Stress for Fatigue Fracture Surface in General Purpose Structural Steel using X-ray Diffraction)

  • The fatigue life of mechanical components and structures has been influenced by mechanical, material and environmental conditions. It is important to search out the load type and size for accurate cause of fracture at the damaged surface of material. The fractographic method by x-ray diffraction can utilize residual stress $\sigma$_r and half-value breadth B and find out the types and the mechanical conditions of fracture. This study showed the relationship between fracture mechanical parameters $\Delta$K, $K_{max}$ and X-ray residual stress $\sigma$_r for normalized SS41 steel with homogeneous crystal structure and M.E.F. dual phase steel(martensite encapsulated islands of ferrite). The fatigue crack propagation tests were carried out under stress ratios 0.1 and 0.5. The x-ray diffraction technique according to crack propatation direction was applied to fatigue fractured surface. Residual stress $\sigma$_r was independent on stress ratios by arrangement of $\Delta$K. The equation of $\sigma$_r$\Delta$K was established by the experimental data. Therefore, fracture mechanical parameters can be estimated can be estimated by the measurement of X-ray parameters.
