  • A new species of marine Halacaridae, Copidognathus laevisetosus is recorded from Yeongdeok coast, Korea. In morphological aspects, the present new spe챠es is closely related to C. koreanus Chatterjee and Chang. Morphological similarities and dissimilarities between them are discussed. Copidognathus cerberoideus Bartsch is reported here for the first time from Korea and away from its type locality.

  • Three halacarid species belonging to the genus Copidognathus are recorded from the shallow subtidal sands at Ko Taenae Islet (sand dune) off Ko Pha-Ngan Island, Thailand: Copidognathus thailandicus n. sp., C. euryalus Bartsch, 1997 and C. orarius Otto, 2001. Copidognathus thailandicus n. sp. comes close with C. cribrosoma (Police, 1909) and C. cribellus Bartsch, 1993 due to dorsal plates completely covered with rosette pores. Dissimilarities among them are discussed. Copidognathus euryalus and C. orarius are recorded hove for the first time from Thailand and away from its type locality. The present paper is also the first contribution on the taxonomy of Halacaridae (Acari) from Thailand.

  • Copidognathus bengalensis n. sp. is described from Visakhapatnam coast, Bay of Bengal, India. The present species is characterized by posterodorsal plate (PD) with four costae made up of po rose panels, subdivided posterior cornea of ocular plate (OC), and two pairs of basirostral setae in female. This species is related to C. pulcher group, but the nature of po rose panels on anterior areolae of anterior dorsal plate (AD) and the setal ornamentation of legs were different between the members of C. pulcher group and the present new species.

  • A new halacarid species, Agaue laeviunguis n. sp. from Youngil Bay, Pohang City, South Korea is described. In sharing the character combination of three dorsal setae on PE, lacking dorsal seta anterior to insertion of leg IV, three ventral setae on PE, female PGS adjacent to GF, telofemora devoid of fovea, well developed smooth cerotegumental lamella on all telofemora, presence of accessory process on all lateral claws, long gnathosoma, and a smooth seta on P2 in both sexes, this species resembles A. subglabra Bartsch from Australia. The species, however, is clearly distinguished from A. subglabra by its larger body, claws of tarsi II-IV without ventral pecten, and much more PGS in female. Description of proto- and deutonymphs are also provided.

  • A new species of Halacaridae, Copidognathus koreanus is recorded from the Korean coast mostly among intertidal coralline algae. The present new species comes close with C.auroroe Newell, C.curtus (Hall), C.richardi (Trouessart) and C.unolaskensis Newell. Morphological similarities and dissimilarities among them are discussed. This is the first report on the marine halacarid mite from Korea.

  • A new marine halacarid species of the genus Agauopsis Viets, 1927 (Acari: Halacaridae) is recorded from Jeju Island, Korea. Agauopsis tetrasetosa n. sp. belongs to the microrhyncha group in sharing one ventral and three ventromedial spines on tibia of leg I, of which two ventromedial ones are adjacent to each other, with its 20 congeneric members. Agauopsis tetrasetosa n. sp. is most similar to A. miliaris Bartsch, 2005 and A. similis Bartsch, 1979 in sharing the similar chaetotaxy of legs I-IV, positions of the second and fourth dorsal setae, and non 'H'- or 'M'-shaped costae on anterior dorsal plate. However, the new species is distinguished from them by four pairs of perigenital setae in female, the relatively anterior location of gland pores on posterior dorsal plate, and three ventral spines on the tibia of leg II. We describe the new species herein, with detailed illustrations under a differential interference contrast microscope. We also make some brief comments on the affinities between the congeneric species of the microrhyncha group and the new species, based on a tabular key to species of the group.

  • Two species of halacarid mites belonging to genus Copidognathus viz C. jejuensis n. sp. and C. polyporus Bartsch, 1991 are described on the basis of the specimens collected from an algal bed in Jejudo Island, Korea. Copidognathus jejuensis n. sp. is closely related with C. dentatus Viets, C. dentipes Bartsch and C. eblingi Chatterjee. Morphological similarities and dissimilarities among them are discussed. Copidognathus polyporus Bartsch is reported for the first time from Korea and away from its type localitiy. A key to the species of genus Copidognathus from Korea is provided.

  • A halacarid species of the genus Copidognathus is newly reported from Korea: C. daguilarensis Bartsch, 1997, which was described from Hong Kong. It is redescribed herein with detailed illustrations. Korean specimens coincide well with the original description, however, they showed two minor morphological discrepancies from it: quite shorter second palpal segment than the fourth and a modified dorsal seta on the second palpal segment. Korean specimens were rather smaller than the type specimens from Hong Kong, however, they did not show significant differences in the length to width ratios of important body parts. The number of perigenital setae was more variable in the Korean males, ranged 24-29 setae, versus 25-26 in Hong Kong's. Copidognathus daguilarensis is reported for the first time outside the type locality, and joins as the second member of the gibbus group in the northwest Pacific.

  • An arenicolous halacarid, Scaptognathus magnus Abé is first recorded from Korea, which was collected from littoral coarse sandy bottom around Simnibawi Rock off Gangreung in the east coast of South Korea. The remarkable characteristics of this species are large body with idiosoma more than 470 ㎛ long, nearly trapezoidal anterior dorsal plate, and a unique chaetotaxy of bipectinate setae 5-3-3-3 on tibiae I-IV. The characteristics of Korean specimens coincide well with the original description from Hokkaido, Japan, except for the number of parambulacral setae on tarsus III and the weak median claws. Detailed illustrations and scanning electron microscope photographs based on Korean specimens are provided.

  • A halacarid species of Scaptognathus teuriensis $Ab{\acute{e}}$ is recorded from Korea on the basis of the specimens collected from littoral sandy sediments at Dokdo Island, the easternmost island off Uleung Island of South Korea. Korean specimens coincide well with the key characters in the original description for types from Hokkaido, Japan, such as male genitoanal plate comprising only pars sclerosum, bipartite female genitoanal plate with six perigenital setae, rounded posterior margin of anterior dorsal plate, second and fifth dorsal setae both positioned at membranous cuticle, leg chaetotaxy of bipectinate setae on tibiae I-IV of 4-2-2-2, and tarsi of all legs armed with paired large lateral claws with accessary teeth and small median claw. Redescription based on Korean specimens and scanning electron microscope photomicrographs are provided herein. This is the first record of the genus from Korea.
