  • In this paper, a $\lambda$/4 hairpin resonator is applied to reduce the size of planar resonators for a 2.4 GHz Band LTCC MLC bandpass filter. The $\lambda$/4 hairpin resonator operates as stepped impedance resonator (SIR) without changing the width of the planar resonator. It is composed of two sections those are parallel coupled line and transmission line. The characteristic impedance of two sections is different each other. The design formulas of the bandpass filter using the coupling element at the arbitrary position are derived from even and odd-mode analysis. The formulas can take account of the arbitrary coupling of lumped and/or distributed resonators. The advantage of this filter is its abilities to change freely the coupling structure between two resonators. Experimental bandpass filters for 2.4 GHz Band are implemented and their performances are shown.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare and analyze the finger pressure and kinematic variables in the forehand hairpin net shot between skilled elite players and less skilled recreational players. Eight elite players(age: $18.1{\pm}0.8yrs$, height: $176.8{\pm}1.5cm$, weight: $640.9{\pm}48.6N$) with minimum of 6 years of experience and eight recreational players(age: $27.9{\pm}1.6yrs$, height: $177.1{\pm}6.1cm$, weight: $820.5{\pm}62.8N$) with less than one year experience were recruited in this study. For each trial being analyzed, four critical instants were identified from the video recordings: Right heel contact1 (E1), Right toe-off (E2), Right heel contact2 (E3), and Shuttlecock Impact (E4). Each hairpin net shot was broken into consecutive phases: E1~E2 (Right Landing Phase: RLP), E2~E3 (Sliding Step Phase: SSP), and E3~E4 (Impact Phase: IP). Temporal parameters, shuttlecock speed, linear and angular kinematics of body segments, and finger pressures were computed for this study. The results showed that The finger pressure of the ring finger and the middle finger for the skilled group during an impact had significantly greater than those of unskilled group. It is possible that all fingers were not used in the same manner when the racket was gripped in forehand hairpin. The result also suggested that the ring finger and the middle finger pushed the racket from top to bottom while having the mid-phalanx and proximal phalanx of index finger as an axis.

  • In this paper, microstrip stepped-impedance hairpin resonator (SIR) lowpass filter f.PF) by surface rnicromachining on GaAs substrate is sugsested. This filter has the advantages of compact side, easy fabrication, and sharp cutoff frequency response. The new SIR LPF shows the 3 dB passband of dc to 33 GHz, the insertion loss of 0.82 dB, and the return loss of better than 17 dB up to 25.57 GHz. This filter is useful for many microwave system applications.

  • For the enhancement of communication system performance, high quality filters are required. Conventional metal filters made of copper can be substituted by high quality high temperature superconductivity(HIS) flms for better performance. In order to reduce the size of the filter for the integration of device in the limited area, we have fabricated hairpin type filters using pulsed laser deposition(PLD) technique. The superconducting YBCO thin films have been grown on MgO substrates by PLD with Nd:YAC laser. The YBCO films were patterned by conventional wet-etching process. We have compared YBCO filters and copper filters which were made with the same spec. Simulated and measured frequency responses reveal that HIS YBCO hairpin type bandpass filters show better performance than copper filters.

  • A new PIV technique was developed for decreasing optical error which was created during simultaneous measurements of velocity fields at a wall-normal plane and wall-parallel plane by a plane PIV and a Stereoscopic PIV system. The two Nd:Yag laser systems and three CCD cameras were. synchronized to obtain instantaneous velocity fields at the same time. To avoid optical noise at the crossing line by the two laser light sheets, a new optical arrangement using polarization was applied. The obtained velocity fields show the existence of hairpin packet structure vividly and the idealized hairpin vortex signature is confirmed by experiment.

  • In this papers, an S-band oscillator of the low phase noise property using a miniaturized micro-strip hairpin shaped ring resonator is presented The substrate has a dielectric constant $\epsilon_\gamma$=3.5, a thickness h=0.508 mm, and loss tangent $tan\delta$=0.002. A designed and fabricated oscillator shows low phase noise performance of 99. 71 dBc/Hz at 100 KHz offset frequency and of output power 19.584 dBm at center frequency 2.450 GHz. This circuit was fabricated with hybrid technique, but can be fully compatible with the MMIC due to its entirely planar structure.

For experimental study, two different Reynolds number based on momentum thickness, Re$_{ =514 and 934 were generated in a blowing type wind tunnel under the condition of zero pressure gradient. The two Nd:Yag laser systems and three CCD cameras were synchronized. to obtain instantaneous velocity fields at the same time. To avoid optical noise at the crossing line by the two laser light sheets, a new optical arrangement using polarization was applied. • We have studied the folding mechanism of $\beta$ -hairpins in the proteins 1GB1, 3AIT and 1A2P by conducting unfolding simulations at moderately high temperatures. The analysis of trajectories obtained from molecular dynamics simulations in explicit aqueous solution suggests that the positions of the hydrophobic core residues lead to subtle differences in the details of folding dynamics. However, the folding of three different hairpins can be explained by a unified mechanism that is a blend of the hydrogen-bond-centric and the hydrophobiccentric models. The initial stage of $\beta$-hairpin folding involves various partially folded intermediate structures which are stabilized by both the van der Waals interactions of hydrophobic core residues and the electrostatic interactions of non-native hydrogen bonds. The native structure is obtained by forming native contacts in the final tune-up process. Depending on the relative positions of the hydrophobic residues, the actual mechanism of hairpi n folding may or may not exhibit well-defined intermediates.

  • In this paper, we introduce a coupling, which is achieved through the aperture instead of the conventional edge coupling, so that the bandpass filter is reduced less than half in size compared to conventional planar type. The resulting filter configuration has a near two-fold symmetry, where the aperture coupling is used in the middle of the coupling stages. We designed a bandpass filter using two tapped hairpin resonators, of which the order becomes four. The designed bandpass filter has the size of $8.9{\times}18.3\;mm$. It has the return loss better than 17dB and the insertion loss of less than 5 dB in overall passband. The measured results show good agreements with simulated ones.
