The effect of topical application with 10, 20 and 30 $\mu\textrm{g}$/ml cortisone and hydrocortisone to the fifth stadium larvae of the silkworm, B. mori on fat body glycogen, protein, total lipids, phospholipids, neutral lipids and haemolymph trehalose and protein has been studied. The fat body glycogen haemolymph trehalose significantly decreased in all the treated groups except in the 10 and 20 $\mu\textrm{g}$/ml treated groups. The fat body protein increased significantly in all the cortisone and hydrocortisone treated groups except in the group treated with 10 $\mu\textrm{g}$ hydrocortisone. Whereas that of haemolymph protein significantly increased in all the groups treated with cortisone and hydrocortisone. The total lipids, phospho1ipids and neutral lipids of the fat body decreased significantly in all the groups treated with cortisone and hydrocortisone when compared with that of carrier control.

The storage protein-like protein has been purified from the 5th instar larval haemolymph of the Chinese osk silkwom, Antheraea pernyi, and the preparation was shown to be homogeneous by 7.5% native-PAGE. The molecule was consisted of a single subunit with a molecular weight of 80K, but the number of the subunits was not determined. The protein was defied as glycoprotein by Schiff's regent stining. Rabbit antibody prepared against the purified protein crotein crossreacted with the 5th instar larval haemolymph proteins of Antheraea pernyi and antheraea yamamai, but not with those of Bombyx mori and Bombyx mandarina.

The effect of topical application with 200,400 and 600 $\mu$g/ml 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic Acid (2,4-D) and Naphthoxyacetic Acid (NOA) to the fifth stadium larvae of the silkworm, B. mori on fat body glycogen, protein, total lipids, phospholipids, neutral lipids and haemolymph trehalose and protein has been studied. The fat body glycogen significantly increased in all the groups treated with 2,4-D whereas there is no significantly change in fat body glycogen in all the groups treated with NDA. However, the haemolymph trehalose was significantly increased in all 274-D and NOA treated groups except in the groups treated with 400 and 600 $\mu$g/ml 2,4-D where the increase was not significant.The fat body protein did not show any significant change in all groups treated with 2,4-D and NOA except in the groups treated with 200 $\mu$g/ml 2,4-D where the fat body protein was significantly increased. The total lipids, phospholipids and neutral lipids of the fat body increased significantly in all the groups treated with 2,4-D and NOA when compared with those of the corresponding parameters of the carrier control.

엽산을 뽕잎에 각 농도별(100, 200 및 300$\mu$g/ml)로 처리하여 4령 또는 5령 누에에 첨식시킨 결과 전견중, 견층중, 산란성 및 부화율과 같은 실용형질이 향상되었으며 대조구에 비해 경과일수도 통계적인 유의성 있게 단축되었다. 지방체의 glycogen과 단백질 함량의 증가는 유의성이 없었으나 체액중 trehalose는 모든 처리구에서 증가되었으며, 지방체와 체액중의 단백질 함량은 100$\mu$g/ml구에서 유의적으로 높았다. 그러나 300$\mu$g/ml구에서는 체액중 단백질 함량은 오히려 감소하였다.

꿀벌부채명나방이 무늬수종다리좀벌에 의해 기생 되었을때 이 기주의 혈림프에서 대사물질의 변화가 생겼다. 이 기새벌에 의해 기생된 기주와 기생되지않은 기주의 혈림프에서 총단백질과 총탄수화물의 농도를 비교하여보면, 기생된 기주에서 전체적으로 뚜렷이 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다.그러나, 총유리아미노산은 기생된 후 첫날을 제외하고 기생된 기주에서 전체적으로 뚜렷이 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. 그리고 유리아미노산 중에서 glycine, proline, arginine, isoleucine, phenylalanie, leucine,valine, glutamk acid,histidine, serine, tyrosine은 뚜렷이 증가하는 경향을 나타내었고,threonine, aspartic acid, methionine, cysteine, alanine,lysine는 약간의 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다.

담배나방 (Helicoverpa assulta)의 발생기간 중 존재하는 major haemolyruph protein (MHP)을 확인하였으며, 그 발생에 따른 변화상 및 물리화학적 특성을 조사하였다. MHP는 유충-용-성충의 발생단계에서 확인되었으며, 그 함량은 유충의 성장에 따라 증가하여 용기와 성충기 동안에도 높게 유지되고 용초기와 성충 초기에서 일시적인 감소를 보여, 총 혈림프 단백질의 농도 변화와 유사한 변화양상을 보였다. ammonium sulfate precipitation, gel filtration 그리고 ion exchange chromatography를 통해 정제한 MHP의 전기영동 분석 결과, 단일 구성소 단위 (69 kDa)가 hexamer를 이룬 분자량 414kDa의 glycolipoprotein (pI 5.9)인 것으로 확인되었다. MHP의 아미노산 조성에 있어서 18.27 mole % 의 tryptophan, 7.47 mole % 의 tyrosine and 6.51 mole % 의 phenylalanine이 검출되어 다른 곤충류의 저단백질들에 비해 비교적 높은 aromatic amino acid의함량을 보였다. 지방체, 장, 말피기관 단백질의 전기영동 및 이들 단백질과 anti-MHP간의 immunodiffusion test 결과 MHP는 지방체에 존재하고 있음이 확인되었다.

Transferrin은 저장된 철분자를 운반하고 살아있는 유기체에서 철의 항상성을 유지한다. 호랑나비의 종령 유충 혈림프내 철 운반 단백질인 transferrin을 KBr 밀도구배 초원심분리와 Superose 6 HR을 이용한 fast protein liquid chromatography법으로 분리 정제하였으며, transferrin의 조직에 따른 분포는 면역화학적 방법에 따라 확인하였다. 정제된 transferrin의 아미노산 조성은 아스파르트산(Asp), 발린(Val), 루이신(Leu), 글루타민(GIu)이 많이 존재하였으며, subunit의 분자량은 78, 80 kDa으로 확인되었다. Immuno-diffusion을 통해 각 조직에서 분포를 확인한 결과 혈림프와 지방체에서 transferrin이 전시기에 걸쳐 뚜렷한 동질성을 나타냈다. 또한 rocket immuno-electrophresis법에 의해 transferrin의 양적 분포를 살펴보면 혈림프에서 용화 3일과 용화 5일에 증가하였으며, 지방체에서는 전용기와 용화직후에 양적인 증가를 나타냈다.

Antibacterial activity was induced in the haemolymph of the common cutworm, Spodoptera litura by the artificial injection of E, coli Ek132. Antibacterial peptides were purified from the immunized haemolymph by heat treatment, ion-exchange chromatography, gel filtration chromatography, and reverse phase FPLC, and their physicochemical characteristics were investigated. These purified antibacterial peptides designated as spodopsin la and Ib were named after Spodoptera litura. Spodopsin la and Ib had the apparent molecular masses of 3, 823 Da and 3, 886 Da, respectively, and about 20% of the sequences had basic amino acids, such as lysine and arginine but no cysteine. Also, spodopsin l was confirmed to be a new member of cecropin family having a similar amino acid sequence to cecropin of lepidopteran insects, such as Bombyx mori and Hyalophora cecropia. The purified spodopsin was active against gram-positive as well as gram-negative bacteria.

The effect of supplementation with potassium nitrate on biochemical constituents was analyzed following treatment of last larval stadium. The fat body glycogen and haemolymph trehalosre significantly increased in all the treated groups. The fat body and haemolymph protein also increased significantly in all the treated groups except 500 ${\mu}g$/ml where increased fat body protein and decreased haemolymph protein were not significant. The total lipids, phospholipids and neutral lipids of the fat body increased significantly in all the groups except 50 and 300 ${\mu}g$/ml where the fat body phospholipids increased but the increase was not significant. However the total lipids, phospholipids and neutral lipids are significantly decreased in 500 ${\mu}g$/ml treated group when compared with that of the carrier control.

Changes in haemolymph proteins, hydrolases such as esterase(EST), acid phosphatase(ACP) and alkaline phosphatase(ALP) , and inorganic ion(Na+, K+ and Cl- ) contents were induced by the injection of Bacillus thuringiengis into haemocoel of the last instar larva of Heliothis assulta. Protein concentration of haemolymph was increased until 24 hrs after injection, and decreased thereafter. Among the 8 basic protein bands identified through acid - polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis(PAGE), 2 bands(bands a and b) became stronger by the bacterial infection. Activities of EST and ALP increased until 12 hrs after injection and then fell down, whereas ACP activity was decreased continuously with time after injection. Contents of inorganic ions were all increased by the bacterial injection, showing slow rate of increase in the chloride ion, but rapid in the sodium and potassium ions.
