The data of dietary intakes were obtained using 24hour recall data which were collected from 244 women subjects older than fifty years old. The data from the questionnaire regarding eating habits were obtained through interview. The education level and economic status of the subjects in this study were very low and education level(p<0.001), occupation(p<0.001), marital status(p<0.001), family size(p<0.05) and smoking habit(p<0.05) were significantly different among different age groups. The nutrient intakes of all age groups were not adequate to RDA level-specially, micronutrient intakes were lower in those in their sixties compared to those in their fifties. Important factors associated with variation in nutrient intakes of subjects were beef preference, regular eating habits, and education level. Therefore it is necessary to focus on subjects with low education levels and low income in order to improve the health and nutritional atatus of the elderly in rural areas. It is necessary to prepare a nutritional education program to establish and maintain good eating habits of the elderly in rural areas.

  • This study was accomplished to investigate the prevalence of obesity and the factors related to obesity of high school girls in the large cities from May 20 to July 10 1990. In this study, three hundred eighty nine high school girls were chosen from high schools located in Seoul and Inchon. Anthropometry including weight, height, and skinfold thickness (triceps) were measured, and dietary intakes were calculated according to food composition tables. Means of the obesity index, food pattern, nutrients intakes were compared by Pearson's correlation coefficient. Nutrient intakes of the groups categorized by tricep skinfold thickness were compared by means of Duncan's multiple range test. Prevalence of obesity was 16.7%, 3.6%, and 20.8% by criteria of skinflod thickness, BMI, and Rohrer Index, respectively. Most of the subjects had three meals and took snacks two times per day 23.9% of the subjects were taking nutrient supplements of which vitamin supplement was the most popular. Food habit of subjects such as frequency of snack and bedtime meal were positively related to fatness. Nutrient intakes of the obese groups classified by tricep skinfold thickness, tended to consume more calories than another tricep category groups. Therefore, it could be concluded that prevalence of obesity in this subject was higher than the one for the past years, and it was more profound in girls who had a poor food habits and high calorie intakes. Thus, these results suggested that a good food habits and adequate nutrient intakes are essential to prevent the obesity of high school girls.

  • Among the numerous factors contributing to implant failure, the most common are infection, failure of proper healing and overload. These factors may occur combined. Implant fractures are one of the complications resulting from overload. Implant fracture is not a common feature, but once it occurs it causes very unpleasant circumstances for the patient as well as for the practitioner. Only few studies have been reported regarding this subject. Thus, little is known about its solutions. It is important that analyzing reasons for implant fracture and finding appropriate solutions. Factors leading to implant fracture are design, material defects, nonpassive fit of prosthetic framework and biomechanical overload. Previous studies have reported that implant fractures ares associated with marginal bone loss and occur mostly in the posterior regions and that most patients showing parafunctional habits also have implant fracture. Abutment and gold screw loosening or fracture were also observed in some of the cases previous to implant fracture. Similar observations were seen in our hospital as well. The following cases will present implant fracture cases which have been successfully treated regarding function and biomechanics. This was achieved by means of using increased number of futures, increasing fixture diameter and establishing proper occlusion.

  • Recently, there is an increasing criticism both inside and outside China toward the eco-migration projects. The author focuses on the eco-migration of Sanjiangyuan National Nature Reserve as a case study as it is one of the main eco-migration projects. At the end of 2010, government invested 4.47 billion CNY in eco-migration and relocated the immigration 55773 people in 10733 units. Benefits of eco-migration is obvious, however, it needs to be recognized that in the aspect of environment justice, it is unfair to sacrifice a group of people in the process of environmental protection because costs and benefits result from the environmental protection have to share among the people without discrimination. Local herdsmen received extra disadvantages in their level of material possessions, social and cultural values and the social inclusion after eco-migration project. As a part of the eco-social system established within several centuries, the local herdsmen are not only threateners to local ecology system, but also the guardians to the natural environment through religion and habits last for generations. The social and cultural values, traditional religion and Nomadic living habits, as important as the environment, are need to be cherished and protected.

  • Walking is one of the most natural and repetitive actions we do in our daily lives. However, many modern people have problems with shoulders, back and spine due to incorrect walking habits. Therefore, it is becoming important to diagnose and correct wrong walking habits, for example, in-toeing, out-toeing, etc. early, which can be a precursor to various diseases. In this study, we developed the system to diagnose and prevent incorrect gait by grasping and analyzing the angle and muscle activity of the foot according to the typical wrong gait type through MPU 6050 acceleration sensor and the surface EMG sensor. Through a smartphone, numerical and visualization screens based on walking can be used to represent the angle of the feet, real-time EMG values, and even the number of steps. The correction effect was enhanced by improving the cognitive ability through a system that allows individuals to easily diagnose gait through smart devices and improve them according to their own problems.

The Alexander Technique is an educational method which shows people how they are misusing their bodies and how their daily habits of work can be harmful. It also teaches people how to avoid work habits which create excessive amounts of static work and how to reduce the amount of unnecessary muscular force they are applying to their bodies. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the importance of repetitive strain injury on automobile assembly line process and contribute reducing the repetitive strain injury through Alexander Technique.
