  • To access massive and various HTML documents that are in the web using wireless Internet equipments, another WML document that is equal to the HTML document must be written, In the case Web documents written by HTML are massive, the construction of a WML site with the same information needs much cost of space and time, This paper designs and implements the HTML-XML converter that alleviates such a problem. The HTML-WML converter translates the Web document written by HTML to the WML document for portable wireless equipments, The HTML-XML converter has advantages that it reconstructs WML document dynamically according to portable wireless equipments and processes various image formats such as GIF, JPG, BMP, and so on, The HTML-WML converter can be used as not only a utility of the WML editor but also a real-time converter on wireless Internet.

  • In order to present wireless Internet users with previously created HTML contents and applications, it is essential to research and develop the technology to efficiently convert HTML documents into documents and further provide a way to edit the WML documents. This paper describes the design and development of a WML converter and WML editor The WML converter can convert HTML pages in real time into WML documents that are suitable for the WAP environment. The WML editor enables creation and modification of WML documents in a WYSIWYG fashion. These tools enable the previous services based on HTML documents to be easily adapted to the wireless environment. The developed WML converter can be installed on a proxy server to support real time conversion of Web contents. It is superior to other converters in terms of the various image formats it supports and the improvements on the conversion of the link and frame tags. Users can continuously browse via links and also view frames. Automatic dividing of large WML documents into WML cards md user defined conversion rules are also supported. The WML editor is also integrated with the converter and provides an integrated WYSIWYG environment for creating, converting and publishing WML documents.

  • This paper describes the implementation of HTML converter for wireless internet access in wireless application protocol environment. The implemented HTML converter consists of the contents conversion module, the conversion rule set, the WML file generation module, and the frame contents reformatting module. Plain text contents are converted to WML contents through one by one mapping, referring to the converting rule set in the contents converting module. For frame contents, the first frameset sources are parsed and the request messages are reconstructed with all the file names, reconnecting to web server as much as the number of files to receive each documents and append to the first document. Finally, after the process of reformatting in the frame contents reformatting module, frame contents are converted to WML's table contents. For image map contents, the image map related tags are parsed and the names of html documents which are linked to any sites are extracted to be replaced with WML contents data and linked to those contents. The proposed conversion method for frame contents provides a better interface for the users convenience and interactions compared to the existing converters. Conversion of image maps in our converter is one of the features not currently supported by other converters.

  • HTML 컨텐츠와 관련 어플리케이션을 효과적으로 무선 인터넷 사용자들에게 전달하기 위해서는 HTML 문서를 WML 기반의 문서로 효율적으로 변환하고 저작하여 양질의 컨텐츠를 제공하는 제반기술 및 연구에 대한 필요성이 커지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 HTML을 사용하여 제작된 기존 웹 페이지를 실시간으로 처리하여 WAP 환경에 적합한 언어인 WML 문서로 변환해주는 WML 변환기와 WML 문서를 WYSIWYG방식으로 생성하고 관리할 수 있는 WML 편집기를 설계하고 구현함으로써 무선 환경에 적합한 서비스의 제공이 가능하도록 하였다.

  • 휴대용 무선 장비의 보급으로 많은 사용자들이 좀 더 많은 컨텐츠를 요구를 하게 될 것이다. 서비스 공급업체는 좀 더 많은 무선 컨텐츠를 개발해야 할 것이다. 서비스 업체는 기존의 인터넷 컨텐츠의 근간을 이루는 언어인 HTML을 무시하고 무선 인터넷 언어인 WML로 컨텐츠를 새롭게 개발할 경우, 엄청나게 많은 시간과 비용을 소비해야 할 것이다. 이에 본 논문은 기존의 HTML 컨텐츠를 무선 인터넷 언어인 WML로 실시간 변환하는 컨텐츠 변환기를 설계하고 구현하였다.

  • 본 논문은 무선 인터넷 환경에서 사용자의 편의와 상호 운용성을 고려해서 유선상의 HTML 프레임 콘텐츠를 변환시키는 프레임 지원 HTML 변환기의 설계 및 구현에 대해 기술한다. 구현된 HTML 변환기는 일반 텍스트 콘텐츠의 경우, 일대일 태그 매핑을 통해 WML 콘텐츠로 변환이 된다. 프레임으로 구성된 콘텐츠는 프레임 콘텐츠 재구성 모듈에서 일련의 재구성 과정을 거친 후에 대부분의 프레임 콘텐츠가 여러 메뉴에 대해서 보여지는 타겟 프레임은 하나로 고정되어 있는 것을 고려해서 무선 단말기의 화면에 1행 2열의 테이블 형태의 WML 콘텐츠로 변환이 된다. 즉 좌측열에는 여러 메뉴 콘텐츠를 우측열에는 타겟 프레임에 보여지게 되는 콘텐츠를 위치 시킴으로해서 프레임 콘텐츠의 변환을 수행한다. 추가적으로 이미지 맵이 포함된 콘텐츠의 변환은 이미지 맵 관련 태그를 파싱한 후, 링크되어 있는 HTML 문서의 이름을 추출해서 WML 콘텐츠 데이터로 대체하고, 해당 콘텐츠로 링크시킴으로써 변환이 가능하게 한다.
