  • With the recent growth of environmental and ecological interests, various river restoration and habitat environment creation projects are being carried out. For this, the estimation of the habitat flow discharge is important. In U.S. and Europe nations, The instream flow incremental methodology (IFIM) has been used to estimate the habitat discharge. IFIM is the method that can be applied to evaluate the flow discharge for the suitable habitat. To use the IFIM in river, a habitat suitability index(HSI) for the target organism is needed. However, HSIs for only two species of Zacco platypus and Zacco temminckii were proposed from the field monitoring. Thus, for the estimation of the ecological flow rate for a group of fish, the development of the HSIs for various fish are necessary. In this study, physical data such as water level and flow rate, chemical data such as acidity and dissolved oxygen, and life data such as fish types and population are collected in Keum river watershed. Based on the 2,736 field data, HSIs for the following 6 fish are developed: Zacco platypus, Zacco temminckii, Microphysogobio yaluensis, Coreoleuciscus splendidus, Pungtungia herzi, Pseudogobio esocinus. Through the comparison with HSIs in the literature, the developed HSIs are modified. Also, the limits of Froude number, pH, and DO for 6 fish are proposed. The HSIs developed in this study can be utilized as a essential data for performing river project evaluations.

  • In this paper, we studied on the short-circuit process, surface structure, and component variation of vinyl cords. In the results of high speed imaging system (HSIS) analysis, as soon as wire covering was damaged by heat, the conductor of wire came in contact with the other conduct of wire, and the short-circuit occurred. Stereomicroscope and SEM analysis indicated that the source part of wire showed V-type form. The molten beads of load part were bigger than those of source part. In the results of EDX analysis, Cu and O were detected in the source part, whereas covering material (Cl, Ca), Cu and O were detected in the load part. The results will help us to find out the cause of electrical fire.

  • The new generation of nuclear power plants (NPPs) will likely make use of state-of-the-art technologies in many areas of the plant. The analysis, design, and selection of advanced human-system interfaces (HSIs) constitute an important part of power plant engineering. Designers need to consider the new capabilities afforded by these technologies in the context of current regulations and new operational concepts, which is why they need a more rigorous method by which to plan the introduction of advanced HSIs in NPP work areas. Much of current human factors research stops at the user interface and fails to provide a definitive process for integration of end user devices with instrumentation and control and operational concepts. The current lack of a clear definition of HSI technology, including the process for integration, makes characterization and implementation of new and advanced HSIs difficult. This paper describes how new design concepts in the nuclear industry can be analyzed and how HSI technologies associated with new industrial processes might be considered. It also describes a basis for an understanding of human as well as technology characteristics that could be incorporated into a prioritization scheme for technology selection and deployment plans.

  • In this paper, we are studied on the direction and formation of carbonized conductive path according to surface leakage current between electrodes. The characteristics of the tracking as surface is broken down between exposed live parts. Using the HSIS(high speed imaging system. 100,000[fps], redlake ltd., USA), it took photographs by arc growth mechanism occurred in on/off surge, ground fault and discharge between electrodes. Then the results was analyzed. Hereafter, it expected effects that application of energy utility technology through the arc control.

  • Innovative Human System Interfaces (HSIs) has been a major topic of research of the international Halden Reactor Project (HRP) for many years. Different design concepts have been addressed and prototypes have been implemented and evaluated in the experimental control room facility of HRP. Many of the concepts go far beyond traditional P&ID type displays, and utilize advanced computer graphics and animations. The paper briefly describes some of the concepts, their advantages and disadvantages experienced through evaluations and feedback from users.

  • In this paper, we studied on the growing characteristics of dendrite structure of melted wire deteriorated by over current. Electric wire was melted by Jolue's heat. By using HSIS(High Speed Imaging System), we found out a lot of melted parts of wire were dispersed and radiated. Electric wire had narrow melted areas in case of short fusing time. A lot of very small dots generated around the grain of copper cross-section and they were changed into dendrite structure. Dendrite structure appeared at the values lower than 2.5[A/sec]. In case of very short fusing time, fusing current was calculated by empirical formula. The Preece equation was not enough to analyze a variety of characteristics of melted wire because it did not consider melting time, atmosphere, etc.

  • The aim of this study is to develop a protocol for obtaining spectral signals that are robust to varying lighting conditions, which are often found in the Polar regions, for creating a spectral library specific to those regions. Because hyperspectral image (HSI)-derived spectra are collected on the same scale as images, they can be directly associated with image data. However, it is challenging to find precise and robust spectra that can be used for a spectral library from images taken under different lighting conditions. Hence, this study proposes a new radiometric calibration protocol that incorporates radiometric targets with a traditional vicarious calibration approach to solve issues in image-based spectrum measurements. HSIs obtained by the proposed method under different illumination levels are visually uniform and do not include any artifacts such as stripes or random noise. The extracted spectra capture spectral characteristics such as reflectance curve shapes and absorption features better than those that have not been calibrated. The results are also validated quantitatively. The calibrated spectra are shown to be very robust to varying lighting conditions and hence are suitable for a spectral library specific to the Polar regions.

  • The purpose of this study is to apply fundamental data of impression formation research by analysing and observing the various facial image that can be effected from hair style as well as be helpful for choosing suitable hair style for T.P.O in modern society. This study targeted 305 college women in Daegu and Gyung-book area. Hair Style Image Scale(HSIS)was used the scale of seven point modified the S-D(Semantic Differential) method. The analysis of impression formation effect of hair style using SPSS WIN package have completed from the principal component analysis by Varimax perpendicular rotation method and ANOVA was used to recognize the difference in impression formation according to hair style change. In the case of statistical difference was appeared, LSD post-verification was applied for that. The conclusions of this study is as followed ; 1. The factors of impression formation effected by hair style were classified as goodwill factor, refinement factor, elegance factor and individuality factor. 2. In terms of goodwill factor, long hair style showed highest level and short cut hair, bobbed hair in an order. In refinement factor, there was no difference between short cut hair and bobbed hair and both of them was higher than long hair. In elegance factor, long hair was highest and bobbed hair was lowest. In individuality factor, short cut hair and bobbed hair higher than long hair and no difference between short cut hair and bobbed hair.
