This paper was studied $CO_2$ respiration rate with physicochemical properties of soils at wetland, paddy field and forest in Nongju-ri, Haeryong-myeon, Suncheon city, Jeollanam-do. Soil temperature and $CO_2$ respiration rate were measured at the field, and soil pH, moisture and soil organic carbon were analyzed in laboratory. Field monitoring was conducted at 6 points (W3, W7, W13, W17, W23, W27) for wetland, 3 points (P1, P2, P3) for paddy field and 3 points (F1, F2, F3) for forest in 10 January 2009. $CO_2$ concentrations in chamber were measured 352~382 ppm for wetland, 364~382 ppm for paddy field and 379~390 ppm for forest, and the average values were 370 ppm, 370 ppm and 385 ppm, respectively. $CO_2$ respiration rates of soils were measured $-73{\sim}44\;mg/m^2/hr$ for wetland, $-74{\sim}24\;mg/m^2/hr$ for paddy field and $-55{\sim}106\;mg/m^2/hr$ for forest, and the average values were $-8\;mg/m^2/hr$, $-25\;mg/m^2/hr$ and $38\;mg/m^2/hr$. $CO_2$ was uptake from air to soil in wetland and paddy field, but it was emission from soil to air in forest. $CO_2$ respiration rate function in uptake condition increased exponential and linear as soil temperature and soil organic carbon. But, it in emission condition decreased linear as soil temperature and soil organic carbon. $CO_2$ respiration rate function in wetland decreased linear as soil moisture, but its in paddy and forest increased linear as soil moisture. $CO_2$ respiration rate function in all sites increased linear as soil pH, and increasing rate at forest was highest.
This study examined the effects of Korean red ginseng (RG) on muscle injury induced by eccentric exercise. Eighteen college male students were randomly assigned to either the RG group or the placebo group (P). The RG group ingested RG extract at 20 g/day (mixed with 200 mL of water) for 7 days prior to performing a downhill treadmill exercise and for 3 days after performing the downhill treadmill exercise, while the P group ingested 200 mL of water containing Agastachis Herba for 7 days prior to and 3 days following a downhill treadmill exercise. All subjects performed 2 bouts of a downhill treadmill exercise (6 km, -14 degree slope, 12 km/hr speed) with a 5 minute resting interval between bouts. Blood samples were drawn immediately before and after exercise, and at 1 hr, 24 hr, 48 hr, and 72 hr. Two-way repeated ANOVA documented that creatine kinase (CK) levels in the RG group were significantly reduced at 48 hr after exercise, as compared with P group, and remained constant until 72 hr after exercise. Lactate levels in the RG group were also significantly lower at 24 hr and 72 hr after exercise as compared to the P group. We conclude that supplementation of RGreduces CK levels and may prevent muscle injury induced by eccentric exercise.

Background: Information about the epidemiology of venous thromboembolism (VTE) recurrence in Korea is lacking. The purpose of this study was to investigate VTE cumulative recurrence rates and identify risk factors for VTE recurrence among Korean adults. Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted on adult patients (${\geq}18years$) admitted to a university teaching hospital for pulmonary embolism (PE) from 2005 to 2013. The main outcome of interest was a recurrence of VTE. We used Cox proportional hazard regression analyses to calculate the relative risk of VTE recurrence. Results: Five-year cumulative incidence of recurrent VTE events was 21.5% (95% confidence interval [CI], 17.7-25.4) in all cases of PE; 17% after provoked and 27% after unprovoked PE. Multivariate analysis showed that body mass index (BMI) of ${\geq}25$ (hazard ratio [HR], 2.02; 95% CI, 1.17-3.46; p=0.01) and longer anticoagulation therapy duration (HR, 0.90; 95% CI, 0.84-0.96; p<0.01) were independently associated with risk of VTE recurrence. Risk factors not found to be statistically significant at the <0.05 level included history of VTE (HR, 1.81; 95% CI, 0.84-3.88; p=0.12), unprovoked PE (HR, 1.70; 95% CI, 0.89-3.25; p=0.10), symptomatic deep vein thrombosis (HR, 1.62; 95% CI, 0.89-2.94; p=0.10), and female sex (HR, 1.42; 95% CI, 0.78-2.55; p=0.24). We found that age, history of cancer, and other co-morbidities did not significantly affect the risk of VTE recurrence. Conclusion: Recurrence of VTE after PE is high. Patients with BMI ${\geq}25$ or reduced anticoagulation therapy duration have a higher risk of recurrent VTE.
This study was carried out to investigate the effects of PMSG and/or HCG treatment on superovulation and fertilization in the golden hamster. The results obtained were summarized as follows: 1. The female groups treated with 30 IU PMSG or 30 IU PMSG+25IU HCG ovulated more eggs than those treated with 15 IU PMSG or 15 IU PMSG+25IU HCG(P<.01). All the PMSG treatment groups superovulated as compared with the untreated control group(P<.01). There were no differences on fertilization rate between the superovulated groups and the control group. 2. The fertilized ova were obtained only by the female group treated with 30 IU PMSG at 1000hr on day 1(morning of ovulation) of the estrous cycle. 3. The intervals between PMSG and HCG injection necessary to obtain the consistent superovulation and fertilized ova were 66hr and 72hr. 4. The superovulated ova were collected from oviduct 48hr, oviduct and uterus 72hr, and uterus 96 hr after mating. 80.3% of two cell, 75.8% of eight cell, and 73.7% of blastocyst of the ovulated ova occurred 48hr, 72hr, and 96hr after mating, respectively.
The anaerobic bacterium P. productus was known to produce acetate from CO, C02 and H2. In this research the acetate f formation from waste gas was studied. For this research, kinetic parameter study on CO conversion were carried out. From t this study maximum CO conversion rate of 39.3 mmol/L . hr . 0.0 and Km of 0.578 atm were obtained. Also the effect of c CO refreshment, N source, initial pH and c비ture temperature on acetate formation were studied. Acetate formation in 5L lab s scale fermenter was tested and specific acetate production rate of 0.48 g/L-hr-O.O. was obtained and the acetate c concentration was 21 g/L.
With increasing anthropogenic emission sources, air pollutants are emerging as a severe environmental problem worldwide. Accordingly, the importance of landscape trees is emerging as a potential solution to reduce air pollutants, especially in urban areas. This study quantified and compared NO2 and SO2 reduction abilities of ten major landscape tree species and analyzed the relationship between reduction ability and physiological and morphological characteristics. The results showed NO2 reduction per leaf area was greatest in Cornus officinalis (19.81 ± 3.84 ng cm-2 hr-1) and lowest in Pinus strobus (1.51 ± 0.81 ng cm-2 hr-1). In addition, NO2 reduction by broadleaf species (14.72 ± 1.32 ng cm-2 hr-1) was 3.1-times greater than needleleaf species (4.68 ± 1.26 ng cm-2hr-1; P < 0.001). Further, SO2 reduction per leaf area was greatest in Zelkova serrata (70.04 ± 7.74 ng cm-2 hr-1) and lowest in Pinus strobus (4.79 ± 1.02 ng cm-2 hr-1). Similarly, SO2 reduction by broadleaf species (44.21 ± 5.01 ng cm-2 hr-1) was 3.9-times greater than needleleaf species (11.47 ± 3.03 ng cm-2 hr-1; P < 0.001). Correlation analysis revealed differences in NO2 reduction was best explained by chlorophyll b content (R2 = 0.671, P = 0.003) and SO2 reduction was best described by SLA and length of margin per leaf area (R2 = 0.456, P = 0.032 and R2 = 0.437, P = 0.001, R2 = 0.872, P < 0.001, respectively). In summary, the ability of trees to reduce air pollutants was related to photosynthesis, evapotranspiration, stomatal conductance, and leaf thickness. These findings highlight effective reduction of air pollutants by landscaping trees requires comprehensively analyzing physiological and morphological species characteristics.
Development of root galls of clubroot disease on Chinese cabbage seedlings was first observed 17days after inoculation of Plasmodiophora brassicae at $25^{\circ}C$ 4-11days earlier than at 5, 20, 3$0^{\circ}C$ and 35$^{\circ}C$. Subsequent enlargement of root galls was also fastest at $25^{\circ}C$ and 2$0^{\circ}C$ but delayed at 15$^{\circ}C$ and 3$0^{\circ}C$ or above. Chinese cabbage seedlings with root gall formation showed reduction in number of leaves above ground fresh weight and amount of root hairs but increase in root weight, Root galls development was highest at soil moisture level of 80% of maximum soil moisture capacity than at 60% and 100%. Optimum soil pH for root gall development was pH 6 although root galls were formed at a range of pH 5 to 8. Period of light illumination also affected root gall development with the greatest gall development at 12hr/12hr in light/dark period and the least at 8hr/16hr. Site of root gall formation and gall shape did not differ greatly among treatments of temperature soil moisture pH and light experiments.

The effects of membrane type, temperature and pH on the permeate flux and removal of soluble solids from soybean curd whey by reverse osmosis were studied at recommended pressures for optimum performance of the membranes. The fluxes obtained with HR 95 and HR 98 membranes at 60 bar were not lower than that with CA 930 membrane at 20 bar. Soluble solid content in the permeate increased to 1.5 Brix after 90 min by CA 930 membrane, as opposed to 0 Brix with the HR 95 and HR 98 membranes. Permeate flux was increased by 28.4% as operation temperature increased from $30^{\circ}C$ to $50^{\circ}C$. COD of the whey was rejected up to 80.5%, 99.7% and 99.5% by using the membranes of CA 930, HR 95 and HR 98, respectively. pH adjustment of the whey resulted in decreasing membrane performance. But the rejection rate of COD in permeate with HR 98 membrane was slightly increased to 99.9% when the pH was adjusted to 7.0.

This study was carried out to find the optimal conditions for the extraction of the effective ingredients based on central composite by monitoring the extraction characteristics of each ingredient with a response surface methodology. The optimal condition for the effective component alliin was extract temperature of $60.86^{\circ}C$, extract time of 3.77 hr, and ethanol concentration of 50.68%, and that for allicin was $65.11^{\circ}C$, 2.79 hr, and 13.62%, respectively, with the maximum extraction of 16.72 mg%. The maximum value of extracted total phenolics was 16.72 mg%, the optimal condition for electron donating ability was $93.35^{\circ}C$, 3.22 hr and 10.38%. The optimal conditions for pH 1.2 and 3.0 nitrite-scavenging ability was extract temperature of $79.77^{\circ}C$ and $76.46^{\circ}C$, extract time of 3.22 hr and 3.31 hr, and the ethanol concentration of 10.38% and 1.12%, respectively. With this optimal condition, the obtained maximum values for nitrite-scavenging activities at pH 1.2 and 3.0 were 94.85% and 63.22%, respectively.
The purpose of the present study is to estimate the release of dissolved Inorganic nitrogen and photophorous from sediments of Deukryang Bay. One method used In this study is to calculate nutrients released from a concentration gradient between sediment porewaters and the overlying water based on periments. The calculated and measured ammonium released from the sediments were 8.93mg-atN/$m^2$ hr and 60.4mg/atN/$m^2$ hr, respectively In July. 8.57mg-atN/$m^2$. hr and 32.9mg/atN/$m^2$ hr, respectively in October. The ammonium was released more highly in truly than in October, and the measured ammonium flux was higher than the calculated one. The calculated nitrate plus nitrite released from the sediments were 0.31mg/atN/$m^2$. hr in July and 0.84mg/atN/$m^2$. hr in October. The measured nitrate plus nitrite released from the sediments was 282mg/atN/$m^2$. hr in October. The calcuated was lower than the measured because the content of the nutrients in the sediments was always much more than in the overlying waters, and it has shown a differently seasonal pattern compared to the ammonium flux. The calculated phosphorous released from the sediments were 0.97mP/atN/$m^2$ hr and measured negative fluxed -6.50mP/atN/$m^3$ hr In truly, and alculated 0.18mg/atP/$m^2$. hr and measured 24.6mg/atP/$m^2$. hr, respectively in October.
