Home-based work as an alternative form of employment is being sought today by both workers and business. The information age with its empasis on the recoding and transfer of information along with the technology of telectommuting has increased potential for and attention to home-based work. Home-based work seems to have several advantages particulary for women who carry the double burden of household work and paid work. The reduction in traffic congestion and demand of fossil fuels that accompanies the elimination of commuting has also been seen as a important social benifit. • The ubiquitous smart home is the home of future that takes advantage of context information from user and home environment and provides automatic home services for the user. User's location and motion are the most important contexts in the ubiquitous smart home. This paper presents a method positioning user's location using four cameras and some home context parameter together with user preferences provided. Some geometry math problems would be raised to figure out approximately which area is monitored by cameras. The moving object is detected within the image frames and then simulated in a 2D window to present visually where user is located and show his moving. The moving ways are statistically recorded and used for predicting user's future moving.

  • Purpose: We evaluated patient nutritional status in a home care setting. Method: We recruited 81 patients who received in-home care using a screening sheet. The level of nutrition-related serum marker (albumin) was checked via medical records and data analyzed using descriptive analysis, t-tests, and $X^2$-test. Results: Nutritional status varied according to the primary medical diagnosis. Poor nutritional status was significantly higher in cancer patients than in other diseases. Serum albumin levels were significantly lower in the malnutrition group than the good nutrition group. Conclusions: Nutrition screening can determine the nutritional status in home care patients. Home care nurse practitioners should consider nutritional status when assessing patient health.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the housing pathways of middle-class married women toward owning a first home. In doing so, an in-depth interview as a qualitative method was conducted, life history was utilized to track down the path to first-home owning, and all the interviews were transcribed for analysis. The research participants were well-educated middle-class full-time housewives owning a home. The findings indicated that family formation through marriage and child birth was a primary driving force to buy a home. It was shown that owning a home was perceived not just as a stepping stone for building both family wealth and social capital but as one of the most important pillars to reinforcing traditional family values. In spite of some intergenerational distinctions on the path toward home owning, commonalities across generations included that home owning was considered to be a social icon for middle-class, it became almost impossible for younger generations without parental support which stimulated the intergenerational transfer of wealth, and it was greatly determined by both family income (affordability) and home finance options(borrowing capacity). This research implies that the changing social landscape transforms the value on homeownership and could undermine the socioeconomic strengths of home owning. Nonetheless, it's of importance to strategically assist first homebuyers who are likely to be a member of middle-class.
