  • The acid pretreatment of collagen molecules disrupts their crosslinks and assists in the release of acid-soluble proteins, fats, and other components. Generally, to achieve optimum extraction efficiency, strong acids may be used at a lower acid concentration compared to weak acids. This study aimed to determine the yield and physicochemical properties of gelatins extracted from buffalo hides pretreated with different acids. Hides were extracted with hydrochloric, citric, and acetic acids at concentrations of 0.3, 0.6, 0.9, 1.2, and 1.5 M. A completely randomized design and the least significant difference test were used in the experimental design, and all measurements were performed in triplicate. The highest yield (29.17%) was obtained from pretreatment with 0.9 M HCl. The gel strength did not differ significantly (p>0.05) according to acid type (280.26-259.62 g Bloom), and the highest viscosity was obtained from the 0.6 M citric acid pretreatment. All the gelatins contained ${\alpha}$- and ${\beta}$-chain components and several degraded peptides (24-66 kDa). The color and Fourier-transform infrared spectrum of the gelatin extracted using 0.9 M HCl were similar to those of commercial bovine skin gelatin. In general, the physicochemical properties of the gelatin complied with the industry standard set by the Gelatin Manufacturers Institute of America, revealing that buffalo hide could serve as a potential alternative source of gelatin.

  • Traditionally, data hiding has been done mainly in such a way that insert the data into the large-capacity multimedia files. However, the document files of the previous versions of Microsoft Office 2003 have been used as cover files as their structure are so similar to a File System that it is easy to hide data in them. If you open a compound-document file which has a secret message hidden in it with MS Office application, it is hard for users who don't know whether a secret message is hidden in the compound-document file to detect the secret message. This paper presents an analysis of Compound-File Binary Format features exploited in order to hide data and algorithms to detect the data hidden with these exploits. Studying methods used to hide data in unused area, unallocated area, reserved area and inserted streams led us to develop an algorithm to aid in the detection and examination of hidden data.

  • This paper presents a wavelet-based watermarking algorithm to securely hide biometric features such as face and fingerprint and effectively extract them with less distortion of the concealed data. To hide the biometric features, we proposed a determination method of insert location based on wavelet transform and adaptive weight method according to the image characteristics. The hidden features are effectively extracted by applying the inverse wavelet transform to the watermarked image. To show the effectiveness, we analyze the various performance such as PSNR and correlation of watermark features before and after applying watermarking. Also, we evaluate the effect of watermaking algorithm with respect to biometric system such as recognition rate. Recognition rate shows 98.67% for multimodal biometric systems consisted of face and fingerprint. From these, we confirm that the proposed method makes it possible to effectively hide and extract the biometric features without lowering recognition rate.

  • Recently, as interest in personal information protection has increased, various apps for personal information protection have emerged. These apps protect data in various formats, such as photos, videos, and documents containing personal information, using encryption and hide functions. These apps can have a positive effect on personal information protection, but in digital forensics, they act as anti-forensic because they can be difficult to analyze data during the investigation process. In this paper, finds out PIN, an access control function, through reverse engineering on Calculator - photo vault, one of the personal information protection apps, and files such as photos and documents to which encryption and hide were applied. In addition, the vulnerability to this app was analyzed by research decryption for database files where logs for encrypted and hide files are stored.

  • Finding traces of the numerous contexts that exist in our culture surrounding an old-narrative and leading to it's textualization provides a chance to read the story anew. The 'Pieun(避隱)' section of 'Samgukyusa' contains the stories of people who hide from the world and avoid it, as well as the different types of stories by the compiler, the Buddihist monk, Ilyeon. In other words, the compiler has textualized the story. This study aims to attentively analyze the specific story in the 'Pieun' section and read the insights of the compiler on whether to move into the world or hide from the world. Through this analysis, it is apparent that the episode of 'Pieun' does not only illustrate the characters who wish to escape or hide from the world, but it also enables readers to grasp the intention of Ilyeon who deliberately includes the banquet story which is contrary to the meaning of the title. In the 'Pieun', he emphasizes that the behavior of revealing and hiding oneself to and from the world has significant religious and cultural meanings for an individual. The writer, without distinguishing people who move into the world or hide from it, used the Buddhist Dialectictics method to present a different interpretation.

  • In this paper, we propose a highly secure technique to hide confidential data in image pixels using a quadruple encryption techniques. In the proposed technique, the boundary surface where the image outline exists and the flat surface with little change in pixel values are investigated. At the boundary of the image, in order to preserve the characteristics of the boundary, one bit of confidential data that has been multiply encrypted is spatially encrypted again in the LSB of the pixel located at the boundary to hide the confidential data. At the boundary of an image, in order to preserve the characteristics of the boundary, one bit of confidential data that is multiplely encrypted is hidden in the LSB of the pixel located at the boundary by spatially encrypting it. In pixels that are not on the border of the image but on a flat surface with little change in pixel value, 2-bit confidential data that is multiply encrypted is hidden in the lower 2 bits of the pixel using location-based encryption and spatial encryption techniques. When applying the proposed technique to hide confidential data, the image quality of the stego-image is up to 49.64dB, and the amount of confidential data hidden increases by up to 92.2% compared to the existing LSB method. Without an encryption key, the encrypted confidential data hidden in the stego-image cannot be extracted, and even if extracted, it cannot be decrypted, so the security of the confidential data hidden in the stego-image is maintained very strongly. The proposed technique can be effectively used to hide copyright information in general commercial images such as webtoons that do not require the use of reversible data hiding techniques.

  • In this paper we propose the digital information hiding technique by which we use the combination of random sequence and Hadamard matrix to hide multiple information. The prior work used only one random sequence multiplied by information signal to lower the energy level of information signal and thus it is difficult for a third party to detect the information signal or jam it. But because we have to use the orthogonal code for hiding key in order to hide multiple information in the same digital image, only the use of random sequence that are not uncorrelated has some problems in the information hiding scheme. Thus we present a new information hiding scheme that can be used in hiding multiple information by the use of random sequence that spreads the energy level of the data to be hidden and Hadamard matrix that makes the random sequence uncorrelated.

  • In this paper, we consider the development of round key generator of DES (data encryption standard) based on Microsoft Excel Macro, which was adopted as the FIPS (federal information processing standard) of USA in 1977. Simple introduction to DES is given. Algorithms for round key generator are adapted to excel macro. By repeating the 16 round which is consisted of diffusion (which hide the relation between plain text and cipher text) and the confusion (which hide the relation between cipher key and cipher text) with Microsoft Excel Macro, we can easily get the desired DES round keys.

  • Breast cancer surgery result in changes in clothing style due to changes in the size of the breast as well as body shape. This study provides basic data as a fashion therapy to improve the quality of life for breast cancer patients who have to change clothing habits after surgery. The regression results found that the most important factor are pain and the amount of breast loss for clothes style changes after breast cancer surgery. Breast cancer patients suffer pain relative to the proximity to the date of surgery and regardless of the breast cancer resection range. However, the changes in clothes style relates to the amount of pain and breast reduction range. The t-test results on the change of the clothing styles for before and after breast cancer surgery showed that women significantly prefer comfortable clothes with sleeves and consider a closure style on clothes to put on and take off instead of clothes that are tight-fitting, have thin fabric or deep neck lines. Painful breast cancer results in women who prefer closure style on clothes, front closure clothes and garments that hide body shape. However, the larger reduction range of breast cancer patients and those with painful breast cancer prefer garments that hide body shape and are looser size clothes with sleeves.
