Ignitors analysis of characteristics in the ballast of the HID lamps and analysis of its effect on the control IC operations (HID 램프용 안정기의 점화기 특성부석 및 제어용 IC의 동작영향 분석)

  • In this paper, four types of igniters were modeled and their characteristics were researched. And then we analyzed and experimented the effect on the control IC operation in this system. Due to the high ignition voltage, the DC power line on control IC is contaminated with the impulsive noise voltage. So the control IC operation is stopped. Therefore we have found that contamination of DC power noise is reduced by shielding, grounding pattern, and filtering method. We showed that the experimental results are agreed with the theoritical value obtained by the four types of ignitor models.

  • This paper presents dimming control system for automotive 35[W] metal halide discharge(MHD) lamp electronic ballast using digital control method. HID system has been becoming increasingly popular due to its superior performance(high luminous efficacy, good color rendering and long life etc.)over the conventional halogen system. However, this lamp demands a highly efficient ballast and very complex control circuitry that can control complex transient state in applying to automotive. Therefore, in this paper, digital control method for the HID lamp ballast is presented for optimal control that can adapt complex transient state, steady state and various environments. In developed dimming system, the system is designed to control the lamp output voltage step by step using microcontroller according to cds sensor. Therefore the designed dimming control system give good driving condition to diver and realize the power control effectively. The results of the proposed system is verified through various simulation results and the experiment results.

  • 본 논문은 고압방전램프용 안정기의 점화기 4종류를 ESR(Equivalent Series Resistance)를 고려하여 등가모델링 하였다. 전자식 안정기의 구동식에 따른 풀 브리지 방식의 점화기 2종류와 하프 브리지 방식의 1종류 마지막으로 자기식 안정기의 점화기를 모델링하고 타당성을 증명하기 위해 실험을 통하여 입증하였다.

  • 기존의 2차원 설계법을 이용하여 3차원 압출성형 HID 반사판 형상 설계에 적용할 수 있는 3차원 설계법을 개발하였다. 이 설계법을 적용하여 터널용 HID 조명기구의 반사판 형상을 설계하고 그 성능을 예측하였다.

  • Today there is an ever increasing effort to control high-pressure discharge lamps with electronic ballasts. HID lamps can be ignited by high-voltage pulses and need an ignitor to start them. An ignitor gives high-voltage pulses to HID lamps, which have the type of the arc discharge. Two kinds of ignitor circuits have been analyzed by the P-spice program and we have shown experimental results in this paper. The result of this study seems to be able to help to develope various ignitors.

  • In this paper, we analyzed and measured the characteristics of the ballasts for HID lamps according to the cable properties. The ignition voltage and the steady state voltage and current are depend on the feature and the length of the cables. So we measured characteristics at 25[m] and 100[m] distances used by a low frequency electronic ballast a high frequency electronic ballast and a magnetic ballast. By measured and analyzed result of characteristics for various kinds of ballast and cables, we concluded that the electronic ballast driving with the low frequency is better than my other ballasts, and that the capacitance between the cables is important.
