Design of manufacturing process, in general, facilitates the creation of new process that may potentially harm the workers. Design of safety-guaranteed manufacturing process is, therefore, very important since it determines the ultimate outcomes of manufacturing activities involving safety of workers. This study discusses application of information-theoretic measure (entropy) to safety assessment of manufacturing processes. The idea is based on the general principles of design and their applications. Some examples are given.

Although the diagnostic information provided by radiographs may be of definite benefit to the patients, the radiographic examination does carry the potential for harm from exposure to ionizing radiation. Therefore we should try to expose radiation as low as reasonably achievable and to give diagnostic information to patients as much as possible. All of dentists should have competence in radiation protection. I wish to deal with what we should do for the optimization of radiation protection in dental clinic.

In recent years, for the viewpoint of environment and electric power demand for stable secure, new energy such as photovoltaic system (PV) become increasingly popular. In case of interconnecting PV to the commercial electric company, two problems will occur when operating in isclation with the other general consumers. One is doing harm to the power quality. And the other is the security problem caused by charching a part of commercial system line that has to be no voltage. In this paper, a simple modelling of distribution system and grid-connected PV system and simulation result were proposed.

The AC induced voltage on underground pipelines not only do harm to workers and instruments, but also cause big trouble in some case. This paper gives the mechanisms, examples, and countermeasure for the AC induced voltages which are caused by the resistive coupling between the grounding system of the 22.9kV distribution power system and the underground pipeline.

Various sleep-related problems are common in pregnant women. Sleep disorders may result in intrauterine growth restriction as well as harm to pregnant women. Pharmacotherapy of sleep disorders in pregnancy require cautious judgement. All physicians managing sleep-related problems of pregnant women in clinical practice need to understand sleep-related problems and their management in pregnancy. Therefore, I have reviewed the literature on normal sleep, sleep disorders and their management in pregnancy.
