INTRACEREBROVENTRICULARLY ADMINISTERED PHENYLALANINE AND TYROSINE: EFFECTS ON FEEDING BEHAVIOUR AND NOREPINEPHRINE CONCENTRATIONS OF SPECIFIC BRAIN SITES IN THE CHICKEN

  • A study was carried out to investigate the action of central L-pheylalanine (Phe) and L-tyrosine (Tyr) on food intake of the chicken. In the first trial, Phe ($200{\mu}g/10{\mu}l$) or saline was acutely administered into the right lateral ventricle (i.c.v.) of chickens (5 birds per each group). Birds (4 birds per each group) were administered with the i.c.v. Tyr ($200{\mu}g/10{\mu}l$) or saline in the second trial. The brains of the birds were removed for catecholamine assy 30 min postadministration. Catecholamine concentrations were measured at specific sites of the brain (LH: lateral hypothalamus, PVN: paraventricular nucleus, and VMH: ventromedial hypothalamus). No significant effect of amino acids on the concentration of norepinephrine of brain sites investigated was detected. Food intake and rectal body temperature were also monitored for 6 h after central administrations of Phe, Tyr or saline (5 birds per each group). Both Phe and Tyr, up to $1mg/10{\mu}l$, failed to modulate food intake or rectal body temperature.

Disappearance of Hypoxic Pulmonary Vasoconstriction and $O_2$-Sensitive Nonselective Cationic Current in Arterial Myocytes of Rats Under Ambient Hypoxia

  • Acute hypoxia induces contraction of pulmonary artery (PA) to protect ventilation/perfusion mismatch in lungs. As for the cellular mechanism of hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction (HPV), hypoxic inhibition of voltage-gated $K^+$ channel (Kv) in PA smooth muscle cell (PASMC) has been suggested. In addition, our recent study showed that thromboxane $A_2$ ($TXA_2$) and hypoxia-activated nonselective cation channel ($I_{NSC}$) is also essential for HPV. However, it is not well understood whether HPV is maintained in the animals exposed to ambient hypoxia for two days (2d-H). Specifically, the associated electrophysiological changes in PASMCs have not been studied. Here we investigate the effects of 2d-H on HPV in isolated ventilated/perfused lungs (V/P lungs) from rats. HPV was almost abolished without structural remodeling of PA in 2d-H rats, and the lost HPV was not recovered by Kv inhibitor, 4-aminopyridine. Patch clamp study showed that the hypoxic inhibition of Kv current in PASMC was similar between 2d-H and control. In contrast, hypoxia and $TXA_2$-activated $I_{NSC}$ was not observed in PASMCs of 2d-H. From above results, it is suggested that the decreased $I_{NSC}$ might be the primary functional cause of HPV disappearance in the relatively early period (2 d) of hypoxia.

  • The maximum transmission voltage in our country is going to change 345kV into 765kV owing to the increase of Electrical Power Demand and power System Stability. Our company is developing 800kV GIS and 765kV Transformer which are main equipments in 765kV substation. This paper describs the specification on 800kV GIS which we prepared for 800kV 8,000A 50kA GIS development. This specification is supported by Public Standards and Data. And, we are designing the 800kV GIS on this specification and drawing up the 800kV GIS layout for type test.

Steam Explosion Module Development for the MELCOR Code Using TEXAS-V

  • A steam explosion module, STX, has been developed using the mechanistic steam explosion analysis code, TEXAS-V, in order to estimate the dynamic load with steam explosion by implementing the module to the integrated safety analysis code, MELCOR. One of the difficulties in using mechanistic steam explosion codes is that they do not have any obvious criteria for defining some uncertain parameters such as triggering timing, triggering magnitude, mesh axial length and mesh cross-sectional area. These parameters have been user decision parts in the past. Steam explosion sample calculations and sensitivity studies on uncertain parameters were conducted to investigate those uncertain parameters. The TEXAS-V simulations were summarized in the format of a look-up table and a linear interpolation technique was adopted to calculate the steam explosion load between the data points in the table. The STX-module merged with MELCOR showed the same results as the original MELCOR and additionally it could estimate the steam explosion load in the reactor cavity.

  • Czochralski 방법을 사용하여 격자결함이 적은 CsI 단결정 섬광체를 육성하기 위한 최적육성조건을 구하기 위하여 광투과율의 변화와 열형광특성을 이용하였다. 결정화과정을 반복할수록 불필요한 불순물 분포와 열형광강도 및 glow 피이크의 수가 감소하였다. 결정성장방향은 (110)이었고, 육성한 CsI의 결정구조는 체심입방체이었다. 그리고 격자상수는 $4.568{\AA}$ 임을 확인할 수 있었다. CsI:3rd의 활성화 에너지(trap깊이)는 약 0.45 eV 이었고, 주파수인자는 $5.18{\times}10^5\;sec^{-1}$이었다.

  • It is well known that pharmacological actions of bradykinin are smooth muscle dilatation, increase in capillary permeability, accumulation and migration of leucocytes and inducement of pain. The most significant action of bradykinin is the dilatation of blood vessels. The responses of bradykinin (0.5ug/kg, i. v. injection) on blood pressure were observed before and after single i. v. administration of guanethidine (2mg/kg) in the rabbits. The result of experiment was as follows: In the rabbit pretreated with guanethidine, the depressor response of bradykinin was much pronounced in comparison with that of normal rabbit.

154kV 송전급 폴리머애자의 산불에 의한 특성 연구 (The Study on the Forest Fire Influence of Polymer Insulator for 154kV T/L)

  • 우리나라 송전선로의 위치는 국토의 65%에 이른 산지에 대부분 포설되어 있기 때문에 산볼과 같은 화재가 발생시 폴리머 애자에 대한 신뢰성에 중요한 문제점을 발생시킬 수 있다. 따라서 산불의 가장자리 온도인 $600^{\circ}C$ 부근에 노출된 폴리머 애자의 재질에 대한 특성 분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과 애자의 표면은 무기물이 노출되어 다공성의 특성을 보였고, 내아크시험 결과는 하부 갓의 아크소멸 시간은 A시료는 260초, 290초였고, B시료는 335초, 336초였다. 그리고 접촉각 측정결과는 첫 번째 갓의 하부부분이 상부에 비하여 $3^{\circ}$정도 높게 나타났다.

HIT 태양전지 결정 실리콘 기판 및 비정질 실리콘 층의 최적조건 (The optimization of HIT solar cells on crystalline silicon substrates and amorphous silicon layers)

  • 일본 Sanyo 사에 의해서 획기적으로 HIT 태양전지가 개발된 바 있다. 이러한 HIT 태양전지는 기존의 확산-접합 Si 태양전지에 비해서 저비용 고효율의 장점을 갖는다: 22% 이상의 변환효율, $200^{\circ}C$ 이하의 공정온도, 낮은 태양전지 온도 의존도, 높은 개방전압. 한편 Sanyo사의 HIT 태양전지는 n-형 Si 웨이퍼를 이용한 반면에, 최근 미국 National Renewable Energy Laboratory는 p-형 Si 웨이퍼를 이용해서 변환효율 19% 대의 HIT 태양전지를 개발한 바 있다. 그 동안 지속적으로 p-형 Si HIT 태양전지를 고효율화하기(< 22%) 위해서 많은 노력이 진행되어 왔지만 이와 같은 노력에도 불구하고 아직 p-형 HIT는 n-형 HIT 태양전지에 비해서 다소 성능면에서 떨어져 있다. 본 연구는 n- 및 p-형 실리콘 웨이퍼로 구성된 HIT 태양전지의 물리적인 차이점에 초점을 맞추고, 결정 및 비정질 실리콘 층의 역할에 대해서 연구하였다. 특히 태양전지 효율을 향상시키는 요소들로서 결정 실리콘의 불순물 준위(n- 및 p-형) 또는 비저항, 비정질 실리콘으로 구성된 emitter 층, intrinsic 층, 경계면이 고려되었다. 그리고 이러한 요소들이 HIT 태양전지에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위해서 AMPS-1D 컴퓨터 프로그램을 사용하였고, 이를 통해서 HIT 태양전지의 결정 및 비정질 실리콘 층의 역할을 물리적 정량적으로 분석하였다. 본 연구에 적용되는 HIT는 ITO/a-Si:H(p+)/a-Si:H(i)/c-Si(n)/a-Si:H(i)/a-Si:H(n+) 및 ITO/a-Si:H(n+)/a-Si:H(i)/c-Si(p)/a-Si:H(i)/a-Si:H(p+)의 구조로서 다음과 같은 태양전지 특성을 갖는다: n-형 HIT의 경우, fill factor ~ 0.78, 단락전류밀도 ~ 38.1 $mA/cm^2$, 개방전압 0.74 V, 변환효율 22.3 % (그리고 p-형 HIT의 경우, fill factor ~ 0.76, 단락전류밀도 ~ 36.5 $mA/cm^2$, 개방전압 0.69 V, 변환효율 19.4 %).

BVI PHOTOMETRIC STUDY OF THE OLD OPEN CLUSTER RUPRECHT 6

  • We present a BV I optical photometric study of the old open cluster Ruprecht 6 using the data obtained with the SMARTS 1.0 m telescope at the CTIO, Chile. Its color-magnitude diagrams show the clear existence of the main-sequence stars, whose turn-off point is located around $V{\approx}18.45mag$ and $B-V{\approx}0.85mag$. Three red clump (RC) stars are identified at V = 16.00 mag, I = 14.41 mag and B - V = 1.35 mag. From the mean $K_s-band$ magnitude of RC stars ($K_s=12.39{\pm}0.21mag$) in Ruprecht 6 from 2MASS photometry and the known absolute magnitudes of the RC stars ($M_{K_S}=-1.595{\pm}0.025mag$), we obtain the distance modulus to Ruprecht 6 of $(m-M)_0=13.84{\pm}0.21mag$ ($d=5.86{\pm}0.60kpc$). From the ($J-K_s$) and (B - V ) colors of the RC stars, comparison of the (B - V ) and (V - I) colors of the bright stars in Ruprecht 6 with those of the intrinsic colors of dwarf and giant stars, and the PARSEC isochrone fittings, we derive the reddening values of E(B - V ) = 0.42 mag and E(V - I) = 0.60 mag. Using the PARSEC isochrone fittings onto the color-magnitude diagrams, we estimate the age and metallicity to be: $log(t)=9.50{\pm}0.10(t=3.16{\pm}0.82Gyr)$ and $[Fe/H]=-0.42{\pm}0.04dex$. We present the Galactocentric radial metallicity gradient analysis for old (age > 1 Gyr) open clusters of the Dias et al. catalog, which likely follow a single relation of $[Fe/H]=(-0.034{\pm}0.007)R_{GC}+(0.190{\pm}0.080)$ (rms = 0.201) for the whole radial range or a dual relation of $[Fe/H]=(-0.077{\pm}0.017)R_{GC}+(0.609{\pm}0.161)$ (rms = 0.152) and constant ([Fe/H] ~ -0.3 dex) value, inside and outside of RGC ~ 12 kpc, respectively. The metallicity and Galactocentric radius ($13.28{\pm}0.54kpc$) of Ruprecht 6 obtained in this study seem to be consistent with both of the relations.

구리 안정화재가 있는 YBCO 박막형 초전도 선재의 과전류 통전 특성 (Over-current characteristics of YBCO coated conductors having Cu stabilizer)

  • Differently from BSCCO tapes which are fabricated by powder-in-tube method, the coated conductors are made by the evaporation of YBCO on metal substrate. Due to this structural merit, although the coated conductors are generally used for large current transportation, they are expected to be favorable to the purpose of the fault current limitation as well. In this study, using YBCO coated conductor having copper stabilizer formed by plating technique(produced by Superpower Co.), we investigated the over-current characteristics of the coated conductor. The coated conductors had 85 A $I_c$ and 90 K $T_c$. The resistance of the conductor was 0.93 $m{\Omega}/cm$ at 300 K and 0.17 $m{\Omega}/cm$ at the temperature right above $T_c$. To the coated conductors, we applied the voltages of the range from 150 $V_{rms}$ to 230 $V_{rms}$ and measured the V-I curves using four probe method. From the results, we could analyze the electric behavior of the coated conductor in flux flow state. As the current exceed $I_c$, the currents were distributed into the superconductor and metal stabilizer. The amounts of the currents shared through both current paths were calculated under the assumption that the ,Joule heating was perfectly eliminated by $LN_2$ surrounding the conductor. Finally, the condition for the stable current flowing state which does not affect the conductor was established from the analysis on the over-current characteristics.
