Five-Level PWM Inverter Using Series and Parallel Alternative Connection of Batteries

  • This paper presents a five-level PWM inverter using series and parallel connection of voltage sources. The alternative connection is done by an auxiliary circuit consisted of a switch, three diodes, and two batteries. The auxiliary circuit is located between input dc voltage source and H-bridge cell. Thanks to the auxiliary circuit, the proposed inverter synthesizes five-level output voltage in an effective way. Topologically both batteries are charged and discharged in the same rate, so it does not need to apply battery voltage balancing control method. Theoretical analysis of the proposed inverter is verified by computer-aided simulation and experiment based on a prototype of 1kW.

  • In this paper, a novel multilevel inverter using DC-Link voltage combination is presented to reduce the harmonics of output voltage without the output filter inductor. The proposed multilevel inverter can generate 27-level output voltage. It employs three H-bridge cells which consist of single phase full-bridge inverter module. As well as, it can make continuous output voltage level employing the properly three DC-Link voltage ratio. The validity of the proposed inverter is verified through the experimental result using a prototype which can generate a 110[Vac], 60[Hz] output voltage from 12[Vdc], 36[vdc], and 108[Vdc] input voltages

  • In this paper, we proposed the electric circuit using one common arm of H-Bridge Inverters to reduce the number of switching component in multi-level inverter combined with H-Bridge Inverters and Transformers. and furthermore we suggested the new multi-level PWU inverter using PWM level to reduce THD(Total Harmonic Distortion). and we used the switching method that can be same rate of usage at each transformer. Also, we tested the proposed prototype 9-level inverter to clarify the proposed electric circuit and reasonableness of control signal for the proposed multi-level PWM inverter.

  • Multilevel power conversion technology has received increasing attention recently for high power applications. The converters with the technology are suitable for high voltage and high power applications due to their ability to synthesize waveforms with better harmonic spectrum and apply for the high voltage equipment with a limited voltage rating of device. In the family of multilevel inverters, the topologies based on cascaded H-bridges are particularly attractive because of their modularity and simplicity of control. This paper presents multilevel inverter with cascaded H-bridge for large-power motor drives. The main features of this drive 1) reduce harmonic injection 2) can generate near-sinusoidal voltages, 3) have almost no common-mode voltage; 4) are low dv/dt at output voltage; 5)do not generate significant over-voltage on motor terminal; The topology of the developed product is presented and the feasibility study of the inverter on 3300v 1MVA 7-level H-bridge type was tarried out with experiments.

  • In this paper, an improved full bridge inverter is presented to get multiple output for UV lamp and barrier discharge. It has a structure of two equivalent half bridge inverters and one full bridge inverter. The outputs of the proposed circuit can be controlled using frequency and PWM independently. To verify the proposed circuit, theoretical analysis and experimental results has been done using a prototype power supply.

A New Single-Phase Asymmetrical Cascaded Multilevel DC-Link Inverter

  • This paper presents a new single-phase asymmetrical cascaded multilevel DC-link inverter. The proposed inverter comprises two stages. The main stage of the inverter consists of multiple similar cells, each of which is a half-bridge inverter consisting of two switches and a single DC source. All cells are connected in a cascaded manner with a fixed neutral point. The DC source values are not made equal to increase the performance of the inverter. The second circuit is a folded cascaded H-bridge circuit operating at a line frequency. One of the main advantages of this proposed topology is that it is a modular type and can thus be extended to high stages without changing the configuration of the main stage circuit. Two control schemes, namely, low switching with selective harmonic elimination and sinusoidal pulse width modulation, are employed to validate the proposed topology. The detailed approach of each control scheme and switching pulses are discussed in detail. A 150W prototype of the proposed system is implemented in the laboratory to verify the validity of the proposed topology.

  • Cascaded H-bridge 멀티레벨인버터의 구동을 위해서는 독립된 입력전압원의 확보가 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 Cascaded H-bridge 멀티레벨 인버터의 구조적 제약을 극복하기 위해 Buck-boost 컨버터와 Flyback 컨버터의 결합을 이용한 단일입력전원 구동 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 회로의 이론적 분석을 수행하고 시뮬레이션을 통하여 타당성을 검증한다.

  • Cascaded H-bridge 멀리레벨인버터는 출력전압 레벨 수를 증가시켜 고전압 응용이 가능하도록 하는 전력변환장치로 모듈화 특성이 우수하여 그 활용 범위를 넓혀가고 있다. 출력 전압레벨 수를 증가시켜 보다 정현파에 가까운 양질의 출력전압을 생성하기 위해서는 스위칭 소자와 입력 전압원 개수의 증가로 인해 회로구조와 제어방법이 복잡해지는 문제가 발생한다. 하지만 스위칭 여유율(Redundancy)에 따른 대체 스위칭 패턴의 적용으로 전체 시스템의 신뢰성을 개선시킬 수도 있다. 본 논문에서는 고장나무 분석을 통해 Cascaded H-bridge 멀티레벨 인버터의 위험도를 계산하고 스위칭 여유율과의 관련성을 분석하고자 한다.

  • A high frequency resonant inverter consisting of three unit half-bridge serial resonant inverter used as power source of induction heating at high frequency is presented in this paper. As a output power control strategy, tine-sharing gate control method is applied. The analysis of the proposed circuit is generally described by using the normalized parameters. Also, according to the calculated characteristics value, a method of the circuit design and operating characteristics of the inverter is proposed. This paper proves the validity of theoretical analysis through the experiment. This proposed inverter show that it can be practically used in future as power source system for induction heating application, DC-DC converter etc.
