Objective: In search of an ideal method of assisted hatching (AH), we compared the effects of conventional micropipette-AH and laser-AH on the blastocyst formation rate (BFR) and blastocyst cell numbers. Methods: Four-to five-week-old ICR female mice were paired with male mice after superovulation using Pregnant mare's serum gonadotropin (PMSG) and hCG. The two-cell embryos were flushed from the oviducts of female mice. The retrieved two-cell embryos underwent one of five AH procedures: single mechanical assisted hatching (sMAH); cross mechanical assisted hatching (cMAH); single laser assisted hatching (sLAH); quarter laser assisted hatching (qLAH); and quarter laser zona thinning assisted hatching (qLZT-AH). After 72 hours incubation, double immunofluorescence staining was performed. Results: Following a 72 hours incubation, a higher hatching BFR was observed in the control, sMAH, cMAH, and sLAH groups, compared to those in the qLAH and qLZT-AH groups (p<0.05). The hatched BFR was significantly higher in the qLAH and qLZT-AH groups than in the others (p<0.05 for each group). The inner cell mass (ICM) was higher in the control and sMAH group (p<0.05). The trophectoderm cell number was higher in the cMAH and qLAH groups (p<0.05). Conclusion: Our results showed that the hatched BFR was higher in groups exposed the the qLAH and qLZT-AH methods compared to groups exposed to other AH methods. In the qLAH group, although the total cell number was significantly higher than in controls, the ICM ratio was significantly lower in than controls.

The grain size of the final products of WC-Co and WC-Ni composite powders is dependent on the size of the starting material and the conditions employed for the reduction and carburization. APT-Co and -Ni com-plex salts were prepared by the substitution reaction between ammonium ions in APT and the metal ions in Co(NO3)2 and Ni(NO3)2 solutions of different concentrations(0.1 to 0.7M) at $50^{\circ}C$ and the grain sizes of the com-plex salts was $0.54~0.76\mu\textrm{m}$. The complex which calcined the complex salts at $700^{\circ}$~80$0^{\circ}C$ for 60min. were 0.2~0.5$\mu\textrm{m}$. W-Co($5.92^{\circ}C$) and -Ni(6.95%) powders which reduced the complex oxides with H2d atmo-sphere(flow rate;600cc/min.) at $700^{\circ}$~$800^{\circ}C$ for 60min. were $0.5~0.6\mu\textrm{m}$. The mean grain sizes of WC-Co and WC-Ni composite powders which carburized both complex metals of W-Co and W-Ni at $800^{\circ}C$ for 60min. were $0.5~0.6\mu\textrm{m}$, and take place the coarsening of the grain above $800^{\circ}C$ and the optmium ratio of C3H8 and H2 was 0.2 for the control of the free carbon. The effect of Co contents on the particle sizes decreased from 0.4 to $0.25\mu\textrm{m}$ with increasing the content from 2.0 to 7.6w%. The activation energies on the reductions of oxides and the formations of carbides were as follows ; W-Co : Q = 8.7 kcal/mole, W-Ni : Q = 8.1 kcal/mole, WC-Co pow-der : Q = 17.8 kcal/mole, WC-Ni powder : Q = 16.6 kcal/mole.
The dynamic magneto-mechanical behaviors in a type of iron-nickel-based ferromagnetic alloy with constant elasticity were investigated as a function of both the DC bias magnetic field ($H_{dc}$) and the frequency. The rectangular plate-like samples were excited to vibrate at a half-wavelength, longitudinal resonance by an AC magnetic field superimposed with various $H_{dc}$. The experimental results found that the strain coefficient at resonance reached 819.34 nm/A and the effective mechanical quality factor ($Q_m$) was greater than 2000. The ratio of the maximum variation of the Young's modulus over $H_{dc}$ to the value of the Young's modulus at a zero bias field was only ${\sim}0.83%o$ because of the so-called constant elasticity. The resonant strain coefficients and $Q_m$ are strongly dependent on $H_{dc}$, which indicates a promising potential for use in DC and quasistatic magnetic field sensing.

This work presents a comparison of three performance-based seismic design methods (PBSD) as applied to plane steel frames having eccentric braces (EBFs) and buckling restrained braces (BRBFs). The first method uses equivalent modal damping ratios (ξk), referring to an equivalent multi-degree-of-freedom (MDOF) linear system, which retains the mass, the elastic stiffness and responds in the same way as the original non-linear MDOF system. The second method employs modal strength reduction factors (${\bar{q}}_k$) resulting from the corresponding modal damping ratios. Contrary to the behavior factors of code based design methods, both ξk and ${\bar{q}}_k$ account for the first few modes of significance and incorporate target deformation metrics like inter-storey drift ratio (IDR) and local ductility as well as structural characteristics like structural natural period, and soil types. Explicit empirical expressions of ξk and ${\bar{q}}_k$, recently presented by the present authors elsewhere, are also provided here for reasons of completeness and easy reference. The third method, developed here by the authors, is based on a hybrid force/displacement (HFD) seismic design scheme, since it combines the force-base design (FBD) method with the displacement-based design (DBD) method. According to this method, seismic design is accomplished by using a behavior factor (qh), empirically expressed in terms of the global ductility of the frame, which takes into account both non-structural and structural deformation metrics. These expressions for qh are obtained through extensive parametric studies involving non-linear dynamic analysis (NLDA) of 98 frames, subjected to 100 far-fault ground motions that correspond to four soil types of Eurocode 8. Furthermore, these factors can be used in conjunction with an elastic acceleration design spectrum for seismic design purposes. Finally, a comparison among the above three seismic design methods and the Eurocode 8 method is conducted with the aid of non-linear dynamic analyses via representative numerical examples, involving plane steel EBFs and BRBFs.
The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of knee flexor isokinetic training on the mean peak torque of knee muscles and hamstrings-to-quadriceps ratio(H/Q ratio) in hemiplegia able to walk independently for more than 10 meters, to analyze the effect of torque increasing on functional aspects; fatigability and ambulation times, also. Forty-one adult subjects with hemiplegia secondary to a stroke partipated in this study. All participants were in/out patients at the College of Medicine, Pocheon CHA University, Pundang CHA General Hospital. The patients were allocated to two groups: one group exclusively for isokinetic maximal voluntary knee flexor training at $150^{\circ}$/sec(n=20) and the other exclusively for isokinetic maximal voluntary knee flexor training from $30^{\circ}$/sec to $150^{\circ}$/sec (n=21) gradually. The allocation was performed according to patient age, sex, affected side to minimize imbalance between the two training groups. Training was carried out from February 14th, 2000 to April 15th, 2000. Analysis of the data was done by means of t-test, x2-test, paired t-test, ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis. The results of this study were as follows: 1. There were no significant differences between the two groups in mean peak torque of knee muscles and relative decreases in knee extensor mean peak torque with increased knee flexor velocities before training (P<.05). 2.There was no significant differences between the two groups in the H/Q ratio, and no relative increases with increased knee flexor velocities before training. 3. there were significant changes in mean peak torque in group A after training(P<.05), but no significant differences as the velocity increased 4.there were significant changes in mean peak torque in group B after training(P<.05), but no significant differences as the velocity increased 5.there were no significant differences between the two groups, and no significant differences in mean peak torque increase rate between the groups with increased knee flexor velocities after training 6.H/Q ratio increased with increased knee flexor velocities between the two groups, but not statistically And there was no significant differences between the groups with increased knee flexor velocities 7.After training, Ambulation time and its decreasing rate decreased significantly in group B (P<.05) 8Before and after training, there was no significant differences between the groups in the fatiguability 9. In the multiple regression analysis, mean peak torque increase rate of the knee extensor and flexor were higher in group B than A(P<.05), and significantly higher with increased knee flexor velocities (P<.05) Also, training method influenced on Ambulation times decreases significantly(P<.05). Results indicated that knee flexor isokinetic training was effective to knee extensor and flexor mean peak torque increase in the hemiplegia able to walk independently for more than 10 meters. Therefore, we were able to conclude that gradual training from low to high velocity was more effective in the increase of mean peak torque of knee joint and decrease of Ambulation times than training only at high velocity.
Four Quercus forests in Mt. Mohu were studied to investigate biomass, net production and effective biomass estimation method. Five $10m{\times}10m$ quadrats were set up, ten sample trees were cut and roots of three sample trees were excavated for dimension analysis in each forest. There was little difference in accuracy among three allometric biomass regression models of logWt=A+BlogD, $logWt=A+BlogD^2H$ and logWt=A+BlogD+ClogH, where Wt, D and H were dry weight, DBH and height, respectively. Analysis of covariance showed that there were no significant differences among slopes and intercepts of allometric biomass regressions, logWt=A+BlogD, of four Quercus species. Biomass of Q. acutissima, Q. nariabilis, Q. serrata and Q. mongolica forests were 164.0, 158.9, 115.3 and 118.9t/ha, respectively. Net production of Q. acutissima, Q. variabilis. Q. serrata and Q. mongolica forests were 25.0, 23.2, 14.5 and 12.6t/ha/yr., respectively. The proportion of roots to total biomass and total net production of Q. mongolica forest was higher than that of three other species forests. Net assimilation ratio of Q. acutissima, Q. variabilis, Q. serrata and Q. mongolica forests were 2.87, 2.80, 3.20 and 2.95, respectively. Relatively less leaf biomass of Q. serrata and Q. mongolica forests were the reason why total biomass and total net production of Q. serrata and Q. mongolica forests were less than those of Q. acutissima and Q. variabilis.
The ratio of optimized concentration on optical characteristics for phase-separated composite organic films (PSCOF) liquid crystal display is 30% of pre-polymer (NOA65) and 70% of ferroelectric liquid crystal (Felix). The layer structure in ferroelectric liquid crystal cell made by 30% NOA65 and 70% Felix materials is tilt-bookshelf layer structure. The angle of tilt-bookshelf structure are 17$^{\circ}$, 12$^{\circ}$ which are almost same of tilt angle of ferroelectric liquid crystal in Sm $C^{\ast}$ phase. We know that this result is from compensating the layer buckling. In this paper, we will discuss the effect of layer structure in PSCOF cell on ratio of concentration between pre-polymer and liquid crystal by x-ray measurements. We believe that technology of PSCOF is a good solution to solve the problems of align-defect and mechanical shock for future TV application and plastic LCD.
Anchors are often used in construction of foundations such as transmission towers to resist uplifting forces. When plate anchors are embedded in soft clay, they may undergo a deformation under the pressure of sustained load. In soft saturated clays, the suction force can be a large par of the ultimate uplift capacity. This study is to present recent laboratory model test results conducted to evaluate the nature of variation of the suction force for plate anchors with shear strength and embedment ratio. The ratio of F$_{s}$Q$_{n}$ versus H/D in bentonite decreases with the increase of the embedment ratio.o.o.
$Sr_{l}$$\pm$x/$Bi_{2}$$\pm$y/$Ta_2$$O_{9}$ and $Sr_{l}$$\pm$$Bi_{x}$$2\pm$y$Nb_2$$O_{9}$ ceramics were prepared by a solid state reaction method. X-ray diffraction analysis indicated that single-phase of Bi-layered perovskite was obtained. According to Sr/Bi content ratio, Curie temperature( $T_{c}$), electromechanical factor($K_{p}$ ) and mechanical quality factor($Q_{m}$ ) were measured. The Curie temperature of SBN(SBT) rose from $414^{\circ}C$(314$^{\circ}C$) to $494^{\circ}C$(426$^{\circ}C$) when Sr/Bi content ratio was increased. In the case of Sr/Bi content ratio = 0.55/2.3, the maximum value of the mechanical quality factor $Q_{m}$ of SBT and SBN were obtained 3320 and 1010, respectively.
This study was carried out to classify vegetation structure of the Hyangjeokbong in the Deogyusan National Park using the gradient analysis and phytosociological method. The vegetation was classified into Quercus mongolica community(Rhododendron schlippenbachii subcommunity, typical subcommunity), Q. serrata community, Q. variabillis community, Pinus densiflora community, Cornus controversa community, Fraxinus mandshurica community and Taxus cuspidata community. Ecological characteristics such as species composition, layer structure, vegetation ratio, and the distribution of individual trees by DBH(diameter at breast height) were significantly different among communities. The order of important value of the forest community with DBH 2cm above plants was Q. mongolica(81.2), F. mandshurica, Q. serrata, P. densiflora, Acer pseudosieboldianum, Q. variabillis, Rhododendron schlippenbachii, C. controversa, T. cuspidata. Distribution of DBH of Q. mongolica and Q. serrata had suggesting a continuous domination of these species over the other species for the time being. In contrast, F. mandshurica appeared limited to the valley of the sheet and a higher frequency of young individuals, suggesting a continuous domination of these species the development of a climax forest terrain. P. densiflora and T. cuspidata had suggesting a continuous domination of these species over the other species for the time being in maintain. Q. variabilis and C. controversa had a formality distribution, suggesting a continuous domination of these species over the other species for the time being. This study examined the correlation between each community and the environment according to DCCA ordination. The Q. mongolica community and T. cuspidata community predominated in the highest elevation habitats which had few moisture, Ca and in the low pH. The Q. serrata community mainly occurred in the low elevation habitats which had many moisture. P. densiflora community predominated in the middle elevation and south-facing slope habitats which had few moisture, Ca and in the low pH. F. mandshurica community predominated in the low elevation habitats which had many moisture, Ca and pH.
