Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify the clinical effect of Red Ginseng in the treatment of postmenopausal hot flushes. Methods: We studied 49 women from 45 to 55 years old who complained hot flushes. We randomly divided women into two groups, We treated one group with red ginseng capsule, and treated another group with placebo for 2 months. patients recorded the frequency of the hot flush on an everyday basis. And we measured temperature of patient's face by DITI. Results: Red ginseng and Placebo treated group significantly decreased the frequency of the hot flush. After treatment, the temperature on the cheekbones who treated by red ginseng get lower than before treatment. But there is no statistically difference between red ginseng and placebo. Conclusion: This study shows that both red ginseng and placebo have remarkable effects on patients, but red ginseng is not better than placebo.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to report the effects of Korean medical hospitalization on six breast cancer patients who received chemotherapy. Methods: Six patients were diagnosed with breast cancer, and were admitted after chemotherapy. The patients were treated by Traditional Korean Medicine such as herb medication, acupuncture and moxibustion. Results: After the treatment, the adverse effects of chemotherapy such as general weakness and digestion disorder were improved. Conclusions: The case report shows that Korean medical hospitalization can be an effective option for treating breast cancer patients who received chemotherapy.

To forsee appropriate developmental cell stage in human embryos for cryopreservation, we observed blastocyst development in culture medium after cryopreservatlon and thawing of one cell, two cell, four cell stage of mice embryos. According to our results, development of the blastocyst of cryopreserved two cell mice embryos was significantly higher than that of cryopreserved one cell mice zygotes or four cell mice embryos.

Objectives : This study aims to report the effect of Korean medicine treatments on a sequela of operation of hallux valgus. Methods : The patient was treated with Dangkisoosan-gami, Acupuncture treatment including Herbal-Acupuncture and physical therapy. We evaluated treatment effects by circumference of foot and ankle, Edema index score by Body Composition Analyzer, Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) and Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). Results : After 25 days of treatment, the symptoms such as lower extremity edema, foot pain and ankle pain were improved. Conclusions : In this case, Korean medicine treatments for a sequela of operation of hallux valgus was effective. But further studies are required to confirm the effect of these methods.

The present study was designed to test the validity of the semen analysis(S/A) and the sperm penetration assay(SPA) as a prognostic indicator of male fertility in 123 patients undergoing in vitro fertilization(IVF). We attempted to correlate the traditional semen parameters or the extent of sperm penetration in SPA with the results of human IVF rate or cleavage rate. Poor correlation was found between the results of S/A and human IVF rate(sensitivity, 80.6% ;specificity, 46.7%; positive predictive value, 91.6%;negative predictive value, 25%). Conversely, good correlation was found between the results of SPA and human IVF rate(sensitivity, 100% ; specificity, 80% ;positive predictive value, 97.3% ;negative predictive value, 100%). Our results corroborate the conclusion that SPA can be a valuable tool as a prognostic indicator of male fertilizing ability.

Purpose : The purpose of this study is to report the effect of Hwa-acupuncture for the pain due to weakened gluteus medius muscle during pregnancy Methods : The patient in this case, 35 years-old gravida, was treated at Dongseo oriental medical hospital for thirteen times (09 August 2004 - 26 August 2004) because of the pain due to weakened gluteus medius muscle during pregnancy. This patient was treated with Hwa-acupuncture and physical treatment. Results : After quite short Hwa-acupuncture and physical treatment, the symptoms of patient are remarkable alleviated. Conclusion : We think that many gravida suffered from lumbago and pelycalgia can be managed effectively by Hwa-acupuncture. After this, futher study, approach and case will be needed.

This study was carried out to elevating the pregnancy rate in infertile patient by Gamete intrafallopian transfer (GIFT). The GIFT program was performed from July 1988 to June 1990. Of the 131 cycles, the mean age of patient was 31.6 years and the mean duration of infertility was 5.3 years. 41 patients became pregnant, for a pregnancy rate of 31.3%. 5 preclinical abortions and 6 clinincal abortion was occured. 2 ectopic pregnanices and 1 combined pregnancy were occured. 7 twin pregnancies and 1 triplet were occured (multiple pregnancy rate;22.2%). 11 pregnancies were term delivered, 17 are ongoing pregnancies. GIFT may be considered as an alternative to in vitro fertilazation in infertility cases in which at least one fallopian tube is patent.
