  • In this paper, static and fatigue bending strengths of CFRP(carbon fiber reinforced plastic laminates having impact damage(FOD) are evaluated. Composite laminates used for this experiment are CF/EPOXY and CF/PEEK orthotropy laminated plates, which have two-interfaces[${0^0}_4{90^0}_4}$]$_sym$. A steel ball launched by the air gun colides against CFRP laminates to generate impact damages. The damage growth during bending fatigue test is observed by the scanning acoustic microscope(SAM). When the impacted side is compressed, the residual fatigue bending strength of CF/PEEK specimen P is greater that that of CF/EPOXY SPECIMEN B. On the other hand, when the impacted side is in tension, the residual fatigue bending strength of CF/PEEK speicemen P is smaller than that of CF/EPOXY specimen B. In the case of impacted-side compression, fracture is proposed from the transverse crack generated near impact point. On the other hand, fracture is developed toward the impact point from the edge of interface-b delamination in the case of impacted-side tension.

  • It is thought that impact damages and hygrothermals can affect to CFRP (Carbon-fiber reinforced plastic) composite laminated due to the sensitivity on the composite laminated Therefore, this paper focuses on the fracture mechanisms experimentally based on a scanning acoustic microscope (SAM) when subjected to impact damages, i.e., foreign object damages(FOD), and also the influence of impact damages and hygrothermals on residual fatigue bending strength of CFRP laminates. Composite laminates used in the experiment are CF/EPOXY orthotropy laminated plates, which constist of two-interfaces [04/904]s. A steel ball launched by an air gun collides against CFRP laminates to generate impact damages. Bending fatigue tests are periodically interrupted for a nondestructive evaluation (NDE) measurement of the progrossive damages to built the fracture mechanism by impact damages, and three-point fatigue bending tests are carried out to investigate the influence of hygrothermals on the effect on the residual bending fatigue strength of CFRP laminates.

  • In this paper, when CF/EPOXY laminates for high efficiency space structure are subjected to FOD(Foreign Object Damage), the effects of temperature change on the impact damages(inter laminar separation and transverse crack) of CF/EPOXY laminates and the relationship between residual life and impact damages ale experimentally investigated. Composite laminates used in this experiment are CF/EPOXY orthotropic laminated plates, which have two-interfaces $[0^{\circ}_6/90^{\circ}_6]S$ and four-interfaces $[0^{\circ}_3/90^{\circ}_6/0^{\circ}_3]S$. CF/EPOXY specimens with impact damages caused by a steel ball launched from the air gun were observed by the scanning acoustic microscope under room and high temperatures. In this experimental results, various relations were experimentally observed including the delamination area vs. temperature change, the bending strength vs. impact energy and the residual bending strength vs. impact damage of CF/EPOXY laminates. And as the temperature of CF/PEEK laminates increases, the delaminaion areas of impact-induced damages decrease linearly. A linear relationship between the impact energy and the delamination areas were observed. As the temperature of CF/PEEK laminates increases, the delamination areas decrease because of higher initial delaminatin damage energy.

  • Accurate aerodynamic characterization of projectile is crucial for successful development of munition. The aerodynamic characterization of fin stabilized projectile is more difficult than characterization of traditional symmetric ballistic projectile. Instrumented free flight experiments were conducted to quantify rolling behavior of fin stabilized projectile. The instrumented projectiles were launched from a rifled tube and the onboard sensor data were acquired through a telemetry transmitter. Roll rate was measured for fin stabilized projectile by means of an angular rate sensor. And, roll damping coefficients were estimated from onboard sensor data acquired during gun firing and trajectory analysis of mathematical model.

  • Recently, This paper suggests that LED-ID technique applying positioning method for LED light. also, Authors in this paper has launched this investigation earnestly. However, there are various interferences such as MPI(Multi Path Interference) by reflected waves of the surface and interfere factors by their correlation properties of the ID in LED-ID wireless channel. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a novel OOK(On-Off Keying)-CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) system using unipolar ZCD(Zero Correlation Duration) spreading code and verify the availability of the proposed system via the evaluation performance simulation.

  • The satellite on geostationary orbit accommodates multiple payloads into a single spacecraft platform and launched in June 26, 2010. The electrical power required to the satellite during sunlight is generated by a solar array wing. The solar cells are the GaInP/GaAs/Ge Triple Junction cells named Gaget2 cells from RWE Space, which were based on a Spectrolab epitaxy. This paper evaluates solar array power performance at end of design life based on the trend analysis results for the flight data on geostationary orbit. The estimated solar array power performance at end of design life compares with the power performance provided by solar array manufacturer. The solar cells show nominal behavior without significant degradation through the trend analysis results.

  • The marketing system of non-timber forest products has been criticized as it mainly depends upon private local dealers, having too many steps between producers and consumers, we believe, which makes it less efficient. Meanwhile, there were only a few empirical studies of how they are delivered to consumers. In order to devise and implement targeted forest policies efficiently, it is quite necessary to understand the distribution channel of them. We analyzed the distribution channel of chestnut, bitter persimmon, oak mushroom, and wild greens by data analysis, field and phone survey, and then drew an implication for improving the marketing system. First of all, the number of middle step has to be reduced and the direct transaction has to be expended. In addition, we need to have more active involvement of Forest cooperative in production sites, adding values by processing, and the upgrade of current marketing centers of non-timber forest products, which have been launched since 2004 by Korea Forest Service.

  • Since the execution of structural design by professional structural engineers is not mandatory for small-size buildings in Korea, structural design is conducted by architects or contractors resulting in concern about the seismic safety of the buildings. Therefore, the Korean Structural Engineers Association proposed dedicated structural design criteria in 2012. The criteria were developed based on a deterministic approach in which the structural members are designed only with information of story and span length of the buildings and without structural analyses. However, due to the short time devoted to their development, these criteria miss satisfactory basis and do not deal with structural walls popularly used in Korea. Accordingly, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport launched a research on the 'development of structural performance enhancement technologies for small-size buildings against earthquakes and climate changes'.. As part of this research, this paper intends to establish direction for the preparation of deterministic structural design guidelines for seismic safety of domestic small-size reinforced concrete buildings. To that goal, a typical plan of these buildings is selected considering frames only and frames plus walls, and then design is conducted by changing the number of stories and span length. Next, the seismic performance is analyzed by nonlinear static pushover analysis. The results show that the structural design guidelines should be developed by classifying frames only and frames plus walls. The size and reinforcement of structural elements should be provided in the middle level of the current Korean Building Code and criteria for small buildings by considering story and span length for buildings with frames only, and determined by considering the shape and location of walls and the story and span length as well for buildings with frames plus walls. It is recommended that the design of walls should be conducted by reducing the amount of walls along with symmetrically located walls.

  • In accordance with global energy conservation policies such as MEPS(Minimum Energy Performance Standard), electric motor industry is moving to super-high-efficiency machines and research to develop IE4 (International Energy Efficiency Class4) motors has been launched. In this situation, SynRM (Synchronous Reluctance Motor) has been attracting attention in place of induction motor which hardly provides super premium efficiency. As a result, much research on SynRM is being performed at home and abroad. Also, some products have already been appearing in the market. Compared to induction motor, SynRM has better efficiency per unit area and wider operating range. Although the utilization of control system in synchronous motor results in higher prices, we still need to concentrate on developments of SynRM so as to comply with the new policies. This study demonstrated the electromagnetic design methods of super-premium SynRM while maintaining the frame of existing IE3 induction motor for blower. We documented the design procedures for generating high saliency which is the most essential and mechanical stress analysis is also treated. In conclusion, we proved the validity of our design by manufacturing and testing our SynRM models.
