Variation in the facial pattern and effect of the rotational jaw growth on the facial proportion were studied in serial cephalometric radiographs of 40 Korean children (25 boys, 15 girls) ranging in age from 6 to 13 years. According to Y-axis (N-S-Gn) growth change during the 7 years of period, the subject who had exhibited 'wave-like' manner of Y-axis growth change within ${\pm}\;2^{\circ}$ was classified to the Parallelwise group and the subject who had exhibited Y-axis increase more than $+2^{\circ}$ was classified to the Clockwise rotation group and the subject who had exhibited Y-axis decrease more than $-2^{\circ}$ was classified to the Counterclockwise rotation group. For the comparison of each group, a total of 22 morphologic variables were employed and the data were analyzed by means of computer morphometrics and statistical methods. On the basis of the finding of this study, the following trends were established. 1. The Parallelwise group was $75\%$, the Clockwise rotation group was $12.5\%$ and the Counter-clockwise rotation group was $12.5\%$. 2. The growth pattern of cranial base was related to the rotation of mandible. 9. Maxillary prognathism was occured in the Counterclockwise rotation group and the rotation of palatal plane was occured in the Clockwise rotation group. 4. Mandibular prognathism was occured in the Parallelwise and the Counterclockwise rotation groups, especially in the Counterclockwise rotation group. 5. The degree of maxillo-mandibular divergency was constant in the Clockwise rotation group but decreased in the Counterclockwise rotation and the Parallelwise groups, especially in the Counterclockwise group. 6. There were no differences in the size of the anterior upper facial height (N-ANS) and the posterior lower facial height ((Go-Me)-PNS) but there were differences in the size of the anterior lower facial height (ANS-Me) and the posterior upper facial height ((S-N)-PNS) between each group. 7. The growth increment and the size of the facial depth was not related to the growth pattern of the face but the growth increment and the size of the facial height was related to the growth pattern of the face. 8. Proportional change due to the facial growth rotation was concentrated in the anterior lower face. 9. The most apparent difference between each group was happened in the size of the posterior cranial base (S-Ba) and the facial length (S-Gn).
Variation of Al tolerance in Pinus densiflora, P. rigida and P. thunbergii was investigated in a solution culture. Root length decreased as Al concentration increased, and decreased more in dilute culture media than in dense one. Aluminum tolerance based on relative root length was in the order of P. rigida > P. densiflora > P. thunbergii. Al content in tissue increased as Al concentration of the media increased, but the reverse was true for content of Ca and Mg. Al tolerance for root length showed intraspecific variation, even under the same Al concentration in the media.
The estuary of Nakdong river is very influenced by the freshwater contained nutrients and organic materials. The response results of these influences are eutrophication and red tide outbreak in this region. Concentration of chlorophyll a was 0.78~62.55$\mu\textrm{g}$/L in February 1.20~21.29$\mu\textrm{g}$/L in April 1.88~188.35$\mu\textrm{g}$/L in June and 0.78~11.21$\mu\textrm{g}$/L in August respectively. The decrease of chlorophyll a is considered that residence time is shorten by increase of freshwater discharge and unfavorable growth condition of phytoplankton is created by diffusion of low salinity and increase of turbidity. The phytoplankton maximum region located inner side of this estuary during winter season whereas it was moved to outer side when mean discharge of the Nakdong risver was increased, Therefore the variation of phytoplankton maximum region was affected by input discharge from the Nakdong river basin.
Sixty-one strains representing the main genera of wood-decaying xylariaceous fungi (mainly in Daldinia, Hypoxylon, Kretzschmaria, Rosellinia, Penzigia, and Xylaria) were tested for their ability to produce ligninolytic enzymes. The phenol oxidase activity and fungal growth of the xylariaceous fungi on gallic aicid and tannic acid media showed a variation in their ability to degrade lignocellulose. A number of species showed equal 개 betterligninolytic enzyme activities than Coriolus versicolor, a known basidiomycete wood-degrader. A large variation of the enzyme activity was observed by individual strains as well as a substantial variation between the isolates of the same species. The most frequent ligninolytic enzymes were peroxidase and general oxidase. With 19% of the strains tested, peroxidase showed the strongest ligninolytic enzyme activity, while tyrosinase activity was detected only in 7% of the strains. All strains of Kretzschmaria and Rosellinia tested was positive for laccase. Xylariaceous fungi were able to degrade the macromolecule, lignin, using each specific ligninolytic enzyme in the specfic lignin degradation pathway.

Various problems such as increase of power loss and voltage instability may often occur in the case of low load power factor. The demand of reactive power increases continuously with the growth of active power and restructuring of electric power companies makes the comprehensive management of reactive power a troublesome problem, so that the systematic control of load power factor is required. In this paper, the load power factor sensitivity of generation cost is derived and it is used for effectively determining the locations of reactive power compensation devices and for enhancing the load power factor appropriately. In addition, voltage variation penalty cost is introduced and integrated costs including voltage variation penalty cost are used for determining the value of load power factor from the point of view of economic investment and voltage regulation. It is shown through application to a large-scale power system that the load power factor can be enhanced effectively using the load power factor sensitivity and the integrated cost.

This study was carried out to assess the use of RADARSAT data which is C-band with HH polarization for the rice growth monitoring in Korea. Nine time-series data were taken by shallow incidence angle (standard beam mode 5 or 6) during rice growing season. And then, backscatter coefficient ($\sigma$$^{\circ}$) were extracted by calibration process for comparing with rice growth parameters such as plant height leaf area index(LAI), and fresh and dry biomass. Field experimental data concerned with rice growth were collected 8 times for the ground truth at the study area, Tangjin, Chungnam, Korea. At the maximum vegetative stage of rice, backscatter coefficients were the highest at the flooded rice field ranging from -4.4dB~-3.1dB. The temporal variation of backscatter coefficient($\sigma$$^{\circ}$) in rice field was significant in this study Backscatter coefficient ($\sigma$$^{\circ}$) of rice field was a little bit lower again after heading stage. This results show RADARSTA data is promising for rice monitoring.
Deposition of diamond films on Si(100) from the mixtures of methane and hydrogen were investigated using hot W filament CVD method. The nucleation density could be increased thousandfold by surface treatment with SiC powder. Upon oxygen addition to the mixture, crystal facets became developed more clearly by selectively removing non-diamond carbons, but the film growth rate generally decreased. However, at a very high methane content(e.g. 10%), a small amount of oxygen addition has resulted in an increase in the film deposition rate presumably by promotion of methane decomposition. When the gas pressure was varied, the growth rate exhibited a maxiumum at around 20torr and the film crystallinity steadily improved with the pressure increase. The observed variation of the growth rate by oxygen addition was discussed in terms of its role in the pyrolysis and the subsequent gas phase reactions.
Serial cephalometric roentgenorgams of 40 Korean children (25 males, 15 females) were employed to study the growth changes of the cranial bases. As a result of this study, the following conclusions can be made: 1. The mean size of the cranial bases in males was larger than the females, especially at the age of 13. 2. In both sexes, growth of the cranial bases was seen from 6 to 13 years of age and the growth of the posterior cranial base (S-Ba) was larger than the anterior cranial base (S-N). 3, Variation in the changes of the saddle angle (Ba-S-N) was exhibited with males showing a marked tendency toward a decrease in saddle angle size.

Thick diamond film having ~700${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ thickness was deposited on polycrystalline molybdenum (Mo) substrate using high power (4kW) microwave plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (MPECVD) system. We could achieve free-standing diamond film via detaching as-deposited diamond film from the substrate by rapid cooling them under vacuum. We investigated the variation of photoconductivity after exposing the film surface to either oxygen or hydrogen plasma. At as-grown state, the growth side (the as-grown surface of the film) showed noticeable photoconductivity. The oxygen plasma treatment of this side led to the insulator. After exposing the film surface to hydrogen plasma, on the other hand, we could observe the reappearing of photoconductivity at the growth side. Based on these results, we suggest that the hydrogen plasma treatment may enhance the photoconductivity of free-standing diamond film.
