This study aimed to investigate effects of peer feedback types and feedback acceptance levels on academic achievement in project-based learning. The participants were 70 middle-school students taking an English course. They were divided into corrective and suggestive feedback groups. These participants were asked to create user-created content (UCC) as an individual task and provide peer feedback on a peer's UCC in the same type of feedback group. Results showed that there were significant differences in academic achievement according to peer feedback types (corrective vs. suggestive) and feedback acceptance levels (high vs. low). In particular, the suggestive peer feedback group had higher academic achievement than the corrective peer feedback group. Moreover, the group with a high level of feedback acceptance gained higher academic achievement than the group with a low level of feedback acceptance. Moreover, there was an interaction effect between peer feedback types and feedback acceptance on academic achievement. These results indicate that peer feedback types and feedback acceptance should be considered for effective peer feedback activity. These findings provide practical implications for the design and implementation of peer feedback activity in project-based learning.
The purpose of this study was to investigate whether it makes difference to use of the Augmented Feedback Type(Verbal Feedback, VTR Feedback and Verbal & VTR Feedback) to hemiplegic adults on learning of motor skill. For the purpose 15 hemiplegic adults who are received rehabilitation program at H hospital in Hong-Sung, Choong-Nam Province. Subjects were classified into three groups by random assignment; the Verbal Feedback group, the VTR Feedback group and Verbal & VTR Feedback group. Each groups received 5 subjects from hemiplegic adults. Subjects were tested by Timed Up and Go test for 9 weeks. And to find out the improvement measured by Pre-Test, Acquisition Test and Retention Test. To find out the improvement of each group's measures took average and standard deviation. To probate the significance of difference between the improvement conducted the one-way ANOVA and to probate the significance of difference of Acquisition Test and Retention test conducted paired t-test. The results of this study were as follows; First, All of Augmented Feedback Types had a positive effect on hemiplegic adults to learning of motor skill. Second, The Verbal Feedback group and the VTR Feedback group had no significantly difference at Acquisition Test, But They had the most improvement at Retention Test. Third, In hemiplegic adults, the Verbal & VTR Feedback group had the highest Retention Effect.
This study examined the relative effects of weekly and daily group feedback on the customer service behaviors in a gas station. Participants were four employees providing full services to the customers. Four target service behaviors, which were identified from the job description for the employees, served as the dependent variables. The data were collected by a supervisor. The independent variable was the frequency of group feedback on the four service behaviors: weekly and daily group feedback. An ABC within group design was adopted. After baseline (A), the weekly group feedback condition (B) was introduced. In the next phase, the daily group feedback condition (C) was introduced. Both weekly and daily group feedback were presented in a graph form and posted at a conspicuous location. Results showed that both weekly feedback and daily feedback conditions were effective in increasing the target behaviors. And, there was difference in the effects between the two conditions.
PURPOSE: The growing number of people exposed to a static sitting posture has resulted in an increase in people with a poor posture out of the optimally aligned posture because of the low awareness of a correct sitting posture. Learning the correct sitting posture by applying sensory feedback is essential because a poor posture has negative consequences for the spine. Therefore, this study examined the effects of the sensory feedback types on learning correct sitting posture. METHODS: Thirty-six healthy adult males were assigned to a visual feedback group, a tactile feedback group, and a visuotactile feedback group to learn the correct sitting posture by applying sensory feedback. The spine angle, muscle activity, and muscle thickness were measured in the sitting position using retro-reflexive markers, electromyography, and ultrasound immediately after, five minutes, and 10 minutes after intervention. RESULTS: The intervention time was significantly shorter in the visuotactile feedback group than the visual feedback group (p < .05). Compared to the pre-intervention, the repositioning error angles of the thoracic and lumbar vertebrae of all groups were reduced significantly immediately after intervention and after five minutes. After 10 minutes, there was a significant difference in the thoracic and lumbar repositioning error angles of the tactile feedback group and the visuotactile feedback group (p < .05). No significant difference was noted at any time compared to the pre-intervention in all groups (p > .05). CONCLUSION: The use of tactile and visuotactile feedback in intervention to correct the sitting posture is proposed.

Objective: Patients with low back pain can possibly have impaired core muscle function, which is the common cause of low back pain. Spinal stabilization exercises are recommended for prevention and reinforcement. This study aimed to compare the effects of different types of feedback on abdominal and lumbar multifidus (LM) muscle recruitment during spinal stabilization exercises. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: Fifty-seven healthy subjects (sex=male 21/female 36, age=21.28±1.60 years) were divided into three different groups: the control group (n=19), the auditory feedback (AF) group (n=19), and the visual and auditory feedback (VAF) group (n=19). The control group received no feedback, whereas the AF group only received AF during exercises and the VAF group received the AF and visual feedback through the real-time ultrasound images. The main outcome measure was the assessment of the thickness of the abdominal muscles and LM measured by a dual ultrasound. Results: When VAF was applied, the thickness of the transverse abdominis significantly increased rather than when feedback was not applied or with AF only (p<0.05). The VAF group showed significant differences in both the control group and the AF group in the post-hoc test (p<0.05), and there was no significant difference between the control group and the AF group. Conclusions: With spinal stabilization exercises, VAF should be applied in standing posture for healthy adults to further promote the production of effective contractions.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of visual feedback bicycle training on running performance, maximal oxygen uptake and quadriceps muscle strength. Design: A randomized controlled trial. Methods: Fifteen healthy adult men with no musculoskeletal or nervous system disease and capable of bicycle training were included. After the pretest, subjects were randomly assigned to visual feedback bicycle training group and general fixed bicycle training group. Both groups were trained two times a week for three weeks, each week for a fixed time and number of repetitions, followed by a six week washout period and then crossing the training method. visual feedback bicycle training provides visual feedback of heart rate in real time using a monitor and a heart rate meter during bicycle training, and general fixed bicycle training performed general bicycle training without visual feedback. After training, each item was measured using a wearable technology, gas analyzer, isokinetic equipment. Results: The results of this study was significant differences in running performance, maximal oxygen uptake and quadriceps muscle strength in visual feedback bicycle training group (p<0.05). The differential effect was found between visual feedback bicycle training group and general fixed bicycle training group in running performance, maximal oxygen uptake, and quadriceps muscle strength (p<0.05). Conclusions: This study suggested that that visual feedback bicycle training can be applied as a useful training method to improve running performance, maximal oxygen uptake and quadriceps muscle strength.
Objectives : Asymmetrical weight bearing during standing has been identified as a common problem in persons with hemiplegia. This study examined the effect of auditory and visual feedback on symmetric weight bearing with hemiplegia. Method: The intervention program was instituted for 10 min each day with a total of twelve treatment sessions. The machine which was used for this study is the Weight Balancer, OG GIKEN, WB-202, Japan Result: There was a significant improvement of symmetric weight distribution in auditory feedback group whereas the visual feedback group disclosed some improvement but not significantly. There was no significant change in control group. Conclusion: Results of this study suggest that an auditary feedback group can be more effective than visual feedback group or control group in helping the persons with hemiplegia achieve symmetric stance.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to assess the difference in the effect of provision of feedback on knowledge of performance and knowledge of result in the training using somesthetic video game aimed at enhancement of balance of hemiparalysis patients due to stroke. METHODS: 20 stroke patients participated in the study. The participants were randomly divided into 2 groups, namely, the knowledge of performance feedback group (KP group, n=10) and the knowledge of result feedback group (KR group, n=10). Both groups received somesthetic video game training 5 times (30 minutes each) a week for total of 4 weeks. The KP group received feedback on the patterns of movement in execution of somesthetic video game. The KR group received feedback on the scores acquired following execution of somesthetic video game. Verification of the significance of the data was performed through paired t-test and independent t-test. RESULTS: Both groups displayed significant reduction in the movement of center of pressure (COP) and Timed up and Go (TUG), and significant increase in the Berg Balance Scale (BBS) following the training. Although the movement of COP was reduced for the KP group in comparison to the KR group, it was not statistically significant, and there was significant reduction in TUG and significant increase in BBS. CONCLUSION: The above results illustrate that provision of feedback on knowledge of performance is more effective than feedback on knowledge of result in somesthetic video game training for the purpose of enhancement of balance in stroke patients. Therefore, provision of feedback on knowledge of performance is necessary in somesthetic video game training for stroke patients.
Purpose : This study examined the feedback effect of real-time ultrasound imaging on the thickness of transversus abdominis(TrA), internal abdominal oblique(IO) and external abdominal oblique(EO) during abdominal hollowing exercise(AHE) in crook lying. Methods : We performed this study on 30 healthy men who voluntarily consented to participate in this study after listening to its purpose and method. All subject were divided into an experimental group(n=15) with using the real-time ultrasound imaging feedback(RUIF) and a control group(n=15) without the RUIF The thickness changes between rest and AHE were compared between the two groups in crook lying. Results : The difference in TrA and EO thickness changes between the groups were significant in crook lying (p<0.05). Conclusion : The group with using real-time ultrasound imaging feedback showed a higher increase in the thickness of TrA than the other group without real-time ultrasound imaging feedback. And the thickness of EO in the group with using real-time ultrasound imaging feedback decreased than the other group without real-time ultrasound imaging feedback. If the muscle thickness can be regarded as an indicator of muscle activity, RUIF will be helpful for inducing the independent activity of TrA by reducing the activities of abdominal muscles such as EO.
