  • Purpose: This study describes the effects of kicking a ball training on balance and upper limb function in chronic hemiplegia. Methods: Thirty chronic stroke patients were randomly selected; Kicking a ball (n=10), Treadmill gait (n=10), Stepping on the ground group (n=10). The Short Physical Performance Battery (SPPB) for balance and Foot Scan for weight distribution. Upper limb function was measured by the Manal Function Test (MFT). This treatment was performed five times a week for a total of 4 weeks. Results: Kicking group was significantly increased in SPPB (p<0.05) and MFT (p<0.05) between pretest vs post test and pretest vs follow-up. Conclusion: Kicking a ball was effective for improving weight acceptance on the paretic leg, balance and upper limb function. However, In terms of balance, the core stabilization that affected the upper extremity function was not evaluated. Thus, additional research may help determine correlation between core stability and upper limb function to improve balance.

  • IoU (Intersection over Union) is the most commonly used index in target detection. The core requirement of target detection is what is in the image and where. Based on these two problems, classification training and positional regression training are needed. However, in the process of position regression, the most commonly used method is to obtain the IoU of the predicted bounding box and ground-truth bounding box. Calculating bounding box regression losses should take into account three important geometric measures, namely the overlap area, the distance, and the aspect ratio. Although GIoU (Generalized Intersection over Union) improves the calculation function of image overlap degree, it still can't represent the distance and aspect ratio of the graph well. As a result of technological progress, Bounding-Box is no longer represented by coordinates x,y,w and h of four positions. Therefore, the IoU can be further optimized with the center point and aspect ratio of Bounding-Box.

  • An advanced real-time satellite simulator (ARTSS) has been developed to support the ground operations activities of the ETRI satellite control system, such as testing of the system facilities, validation of flight control procedures, verification of satellite commands as well as training of the ground operators. The design of ARTSS is based on the top-down approach and makes use of a modular programming to ensure flexibility in modification and expansion of the system. Graphics-based monitoring and control facilities enhance the satellite simulation environment. The software spacecraft model in ARTSS simulates the characteristics of a geostationary communication satellite using a momentum bias three-axis stabilization control technique. The system can be also interfaced with a hardware payload subsystem such as Ku-band communication transponder to enhance the simulator capability. Therefore, ARTSS is a high fidelity satellite simulation tool that can be used on low-cost desk top computers. In this paper, we describe the design features, the simulation models and the real-time operating functions of the simulator.

  • The firing noise produced at artillery test range or military training ground is impulsive burst noise which energy is generated within tens of milliseconds and distributed an isolated burst of sound energy separated to one by one noise. The long range propagation of this noise is affected by a caliber of gun, amount of propellant, distance between source and receiver, ground and meteorological condition. In this paper, main influence parameters have been described based on experimental analysis of measured data. It is considered that this analysis result can be used as useful materials for study of effective firing noise management and development of propagation model.

  • In the marine environment, many clutters have similar features with the marine targets due to the diverse changes of the air temperature, water temperature, various weather and seasons. Also, the clutters in the ground environment have similar features due to the same reason. In this paper, we proposed a robust Hybrid Machine Character (HMC) method to classify the targets from the clutters in the infrared images for the various environments. The proposed HMC method adopts human's multiple personality utilization and the CNN ensemble method to classify the targets in the ground and marine environments. This method uses an advantage of the each environmental training model. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method has better success rate to classify the targets and clutters than previously proposed CNN classification method.

  • In this paper, four formulas are proposed via gene expression programming (GEP)-based models and regression analysis (RA) to predict the flexural strength ($f_s$) values of mortars containing different mineral admixtures that are ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBFS), silica fume (SF) and fly ash (FA) at different ages. Three formulas obtained from the GEP-I, GEP-II and GEP-III models are constituted to predict the $f_s$ values from the age of specimen, water-binder ratio and compressive strength. Besides, one formula obtained from the RA is constituted to predict the $f_s$ values from the compressive strength. To achieve these formulas in the GEP and RA models, 972 data of the experimental studies presented with mortar mixtures were gathered from the literatures. 734 data of the experimental studies are divided without pre-planned for these formulas achieved from the training and testing sets of GEP and RA models. Beside, these formulas are validated with 238 data of experimental studies un-employed in training and testing sets. The $f_s$ results obtained from the training, testing and validation sets of these formulas are compared with the results obtained from the experimental studies and the formulas given in the literature for concrete. These comparisons show that the results of the formulas obtained from the GEP and RA models appear to well compatible with the experimental results and find to be very credible according to the results of other formulas.

  • This research is an attempt to obtain more accurate land cover information from LANDSAT images. Canonical correlation analysis, which has not been widely used in the image classification community, was applied to the classification of a LANDSAT images. It was found that it is easy to select training areas on the classification using canonical correlation analysis in comparison with the maximum likelihood classifier of $ERDAS^{(R)}$ software. In other words, the selected positions of training areas hardly affect the classification results using canonical correlation analysis. when the same training areas are used, the mapping accuracy of the canonical correlation classification results compared with the ground truth data is not lower than that of the maximum likelihood classifier. The kappa analysis for the canonical correlation classifier and the maximum likelihood classifier showed that the two methods are alike in classification accuracy. However, the canonical correlation classifier has better points than the maximum likelihood classifier in classification characteristics. Therefore, the classification using canonical correlation analysis applied in this research is effective for the extraction of land cover information from LANDSAT images and will be able to be put to practical use.

  • Body balance necessary for ordinary daily activities can be undermined by diverse causes. In this study, as a way to control such a problem, we have produced smart insole as a wearable device in the form of insole and developed analysis software evaluating body balance, which measures ground reaction force applied to each area of sole and Center of Pressure (COP). The software visualized changes in COP positions while a user was moving and average COP positions, and it is also capable of measuring the COP values in the Anterior-Posterior (AP) and Medial-Lateral (ML) areas of feet. Through gait analysis, it can analyze the time of walking, strides, speed, COP trajectory while walking, etc. In addition, we have developed training contents for body balance improvement designed in consideration of Y-Balance Test and Timed Up and Go (TUG) Test. They were established in virtual reality similar to daily living environment so that people can expect more effective training results regardless of places.

  • The disease causing colic is the greatest cause of death in the domestic horse population today and accidental deaths as a result of colic leads to decreased productivity and economic losses in the horse breeding industry. Large colon impaction is the most common cause of colic in horses. Horses may ingest sand either by eating from the ground in sandy locations, or because of its inclusion in hay. In certain areas sand impaction is relatively common. The horse (4 year, female) presented with abdominal pain, which was charactered by willing to lie down, pawing, and looking at flank. A month later, the horse died suddenly at sand paddock. Post-mortem examination revealed the sand impaction as a lot of feces, sand and gravels in the right dorsal colon. In addition, there was necrosis and debilitation in mucosal lining of the large colon and rupture site on the right dorsal colon. The purpose of this article is to review sand impaction and emergencies in Thoroughbred horses.

  • In this research, the vulnerability of some reinforced concrete frames with different stories are studied based on the Park-Ang Damage Index. The damages of the frames are investigated under various earthquakes with nonlinear dynamic analysis in IDARC software. By examining the most important characteristics of earthquake parameters, the damage index and vulnerability of these frames are investigated in this software. The intensity of Erias, velocity spectral intensity (VSI) and peak ground velocity (PGV) had the highest correlation, and root mean square of displacement ($D_{rms}$) had the lowest correlation coefficient among the parameters. Then, the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm was used, and the sinusoidal waves were equivalent to the used earthquakes according to the most influential parameters above. The damage index equivalent to these waves is estimated using nonlinear dynamics analysis. The comparison between the damages caused by earthquakes and equivalent sinusoidal waves is done too. The generations of sinusoidal waves equivalent to different earthquakes are generalized in some reinforced concrete frames. The equivalent sinusoidal wave method was exact enough because the greatest difference between the results of the main and artificial accelerator damage index was about 5 percent. Also sinusoidal waves were more consistent with the damage indices of the structures compared to the earthquake parameters.
