Recently, production cost of ready mixed concrete(remicon) has been increased due to the rising cost of raw materials such as cement and aggregate etc. cause by the upturn of oil price and increase of shipping charge. The delivery cost of remicon companies, however, has been decreased owing to their excessive competition in sale. Consequently, remicon companies began to manufacture the concrete by mixing ground granulated blast furnace slag(GGBF) in order to lower the production cost. Therefore, the objective of this study was to predict 28-day strength of GGBF slag concrete by early strength(1 day-strength, 7 day-strength) for the sake of managing with ease the quality of remicon. In experimental results, the prediction equation for 28 day-strength of GGBF slag concrete could be produced through the linear regression analysis of early strength and 28 day-strength. In order to acquire the reliability, all mixture were repeated as 3 times and each mixture order was carried out by random sampling. The prediction equation for 28 day-strength of GGBF slag concrete by 1-day strength(hot-water method) won the good reliability.

In the recent design of high ductile engineered cementitious composites (ECC), optimizing both processing and mechanical properties for specific applications is critical. This study employs a method to develop useful ECC produced with slag particles (slag-ECC) in the field, which possesses different fluid properties to facilitate diverse types of processing (i.e., self-consolidating or spray processing). Control of rheological modulation was regarded as a key factor to allow the performance of the desired processing while retaining the ductile material properties. To control the rheological properties of the composite, the basic slag-ECC composition was initially obtained, determined based on micromechanics and steady-state cracking theory. The stability and consequent viscosity of the suspensions were then mediated by optimizing the dosage of the chemical and mineral admixtures. The rheological properties altered through this approach were revealed to be effective in obtaining ECC-hardened properties, represented by pseudo strain-hardening behavior in uniaxial tension, allowing the readily achievement of the desired function of the fresh ECC.

In this study, portland cement (PC) has been partially replaced with a Class F fly ash (FA) at level of 70 % to produce high-volume FA (HVFA) concrete (F70). F70 was modified by replacing FA at levels of 10 and 20 % with silica fume (SF) and ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS) and their equally combinations. All HVFA concrete types were compared to PC concrete. After curing for 7, 28, 90 and 180 days the specimens were tested in compression and abrasion. The various decomposition phases formed were identified using X-ray diffraction. The morphology of the formed hydrates was studied using scanning electron microscopy. The results indicated higher abrasion resistance of HVFA concrete blended with either SF or equally combinations of SF and GGBS, whilst lower abrasion resistance was noted in HVFA blended with GGBS.

The cement industry brought very severe environment problems with massive carbon dioxide during its production. To solve this problem, attempts on Alkali-Activated Slag (AAS) concrete that perfectly substitutes industrial by-products such as ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS) for cement are being actively made. AAS concrete is possible to have high strength development at room temperature, however, it is difficult to ensure the working time due to the fast setting time and the loss of workabillity because of the alkali reaction. In this study, the early age properties of alkali activated slag mortar are investigated to obtain the fundamental data for AAS concrete application to structural members. The water-binder ratio (W/B) was fixed at 0.35 and sodium hydroxide and waterglass as alkali activator was used. The compressive strength, the flow and the ultrasonic pulse velocity were measured according to the type of superplasticisers, which were naphthalene(N), lignin(L), melamine(M) and PC(P), up to a maximum of 2 percent by the mass of GGBFS. The results showed that adding melamine type of superplasticizer improved the fluidity of AAS mortar without decreasing the compressive strength, while naphthalene and polycarbonate type of superplasticizer had little effect on the fluidity of AAS mortar.

Recently, the cement industries brought very severe environment problems such as resource depletion and global warming with massive carbon dioxide during its production. The number of cases using industrial by-products such as the ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS) in concrete mixtures is increasing to resolve the environmental issue. GGBFS is mainly used in the range between 20 to 50% to replace cement, but nowadays lots of researches are carried out to develop the alkali-activated slag (AAS) concrete with no cement. In this study, the early age properties of alkali activated slag (AAS) mortar are investigated to obtain the fundamental data for AAS concrete application to structural members. The experimental variables were the water-binder ratios of 0.3, 0.4, and 0.5 and NaOH as the alkali activator of 4%, 8%, and 12% by the mass of GGBFS, and compressive strength, flow, setting time, and ultrasonic pulse velocity of AAS mortars were measured and analyzed. It is found from the test results that as the normal concrete the lower W/B, the higher compressive strength. However, superplasticizer has to be used for producing high strength AAS concrete because the workability of AAS mortar are significantly lowered.

This study aimed to examine the cause of latent hydraulic property manifestation of ground granulated blast-furnace slag(GGBFS) using different alkali activators in pH, type and quantity. According to the experimental result, the higher pH value accelerated lastly latent hydraulic property and the early stage strength of GCBFS was ranked as activators with the higher pH, in an order of NaOH, $Ca(OH)_{2}$ and $Na_{2}$$Co_{3}$. Also, NaOH had accelerated latent hydraulic property of GGBFS, which had 40~50% of the 3 and 7 days compressive strength of base mortar in case of using 10% of powder-weight. In the case of 30% of GGBFS substitution with annexing 2.5% $Ca(OH)_{2}$, the compressive strength on the 3 and 7 days of the early-age, was increased to 5~10% than that of the same admixture with no activator. With annexing 5.0% $Ca(OH)_{2}$, the strength was increased to 10~20%. Although activator NaOH was effective on the manifestation of latent hydraulic property, it caused cement mortar compressive strength decrease by enlarging pore diameter.

This study investigates the properties of the flow, air content, strength, hydration heat, and the autogenous shrinkage, and the results are summarized as following. As a properties of fresh concrete, the flow increased and the air content decreased as the replacement ratio of BS increased. The time of set delayed as the replacement ratio of BS increased by latent hydraulicity. The compressive strength of hardening concrete was smaller than OPC as the replacement ratio of BS increased at young concrete, however it was more than equal after 28th day and from then on. The rising temperature ratio which occurs by simplicity insulation decreased as the replacement ratio of BS increased, but it increased by latent hydraulicity reaction at the latter half. The length ratio of autogenous shrinkage of OPC was 319×10-6, however it was shorter when the replacement ratio was 40% as showing 290×10-6.
Blended Low Heat type cement is ground granulated blast furnace slag and fly ash mixed ternary with ordinary portland cement. From the viewpoint of X-ray patterns of domestic LHC, the main components of cement such as $C_2$S, $C_3$A, $C_3$S are considerably reduced. Therefore the heat evolution of LHC paste is 42cal/g lower than of OPC paste. At early age, the compressive strength development of LHC concrete is delayed, but the slump loss ratio of fresh concrete is reduced more than 20% with elapsed time. The penetrability of LHC is lower than that of OPC by 1/7.8 with the penetrability of chloride ion into the concrete until the age of 120 days. And the PD Index value of LHC is 0.44$\times$10-6 $\textrm{cm}^2$/s, which indicates only 39.3% of OPC. From the Mercury Intrusion Porosimetry test of cement past, we know that the pore size of LHC is more dense than that of OPC by production of C-S-H.
The current contractor for use in performance compared to the performance study of industrial byproducts. Due to the stagnation of the construction business and the rise of raw materials, the contractor of the cost savings and environmental issues, and present a variety of ways for research actively being. Through special about the compressive strength characteristics of the mixed concrete, carbonation resistance and chloride penetration resistance of this study, previous studies have been a lot of progress, industrial byproducts, fly ash and blast furnace slag concrete structures were applied to evaluate.

This study aims to develop non-sintered cement that can replace the Portland cement by utilizing industrial by-products. As a suggestion, the physical properties of non-sintered cement mortar depending on the curing method were investigated with ground granulated blast furnace slag, class C fly ash, and class F fly ash. As a result of the study, it was found that the strength performance and absorption rate were improved through the heat treatment process after steam curing. It was confirmed through crystal phase analysis that the hydration was accelerated after heat treatment, and the bonding material formed a dense internal structure.
